LANIER CENTER TO HOST “BISCUITS & BOUQUETS” SALON SERIES MACON, Ga. — The Lanier Center for Literary Arts will kick off its upcoming Sidney’s Salon Series on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Sidney Lanier Cottage. The series, entitled “Biscuits & Bouquets,” will focus on Southern food and gardening. Scheduled guests include Gena Knox, Carol Porter and Nathalie Dupree. The first guest set for Aug. 14 is Gena Knox, co-founder of Fire & Flavor, which is headquartered in Athens, Ga., and offers grilling planks and papers, skewers, rubs and brines. She has written two cookbooks, “Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavors” and “Gourmet Made Simple.” Carol Dodd Porter, 2010 nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, writes the “Cookbook Farm” column for The Telegraph and hosts a cooking show on TV35 WDIG in Dublin, Ga. Porter will discuss her favorite Southern cookbooks at a Salon on Sept. 11. Nathalie Dupree is the author of 10 cookbooks, selling over half a million copies, and host of more than 300 television shows that have aired since 1986 on PBS, The Food Network and The Learning Channel. A special event with Dupree will be held Nov. 13. Location, times and admission cost will vary from regular Salons. Another Salon will be held Oct. 9 (guest TBA). The series will take place in the Sidney Lanier Cottage at 935 High St. Salons will include refreshments at 5:30 p.m. followed by the programs at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free for Historic Macon members, $5 for non-members and $3 for students.
