THE CONCEPT, TARGET AUDIENCE AND STRATEGY
A SINGLE PLASTIC BAG CAN TAKE UP TO 1.000 YEARS TO DEGRADE. HELP THE WORLD MAKE THIS THE FUTURE BY DONATING YOUR WORN OUT T-SHIRTS, TO MAKE NEW ENCIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY BAGS. CONCEPT To make people aware about the plastic bag problem, and give them a smart and easy solution of something that does not harm the environment under production.
TARGET AUDIENCE Students from 18 years old and young adults up to 27 years of age, that is shopping groceries in small amounts each day.
Everybody has an old t-shirt laying around, and this can be donated to oldtee.com, which is a company that are making the t-shirt bags of the worn out t-shirts. This is much better than throwing them in the garbage. People can also make their own t-shirt bags with just a needle and a thread.
STRATEGY My strategy is to place a campaign with a fact and a solution on different mediums such as: buss stops, bilboards, shopping baskets, facebook, paper ad and magazine ad to get the target audiences attention and to make them aware and react.
T-shirts has their primary function. But by giving the old t-shirt a new life, is a solution that does not harm the environment since the t-shirts is already made for a primary purpose to start with, and are now helping the environment by having a new function.
Wolworths will be a part of the solution, and are sponsoring the drop one product campaign with the different ads.
The goal is to get people to stop using the plastic pags, and start using the t-shirt bags and be a part of the smart and environmental friendly solution.

THIS IS THE LOGO FOR THE DROP ONE PRODUCT CAMPAIGN The logo is simple, and the name communicates the message very good for this solution and campaign.

SHOPPING BASKET AD This is the shopping basket ad, which include the problem to get the viewers attention. I have chosen to have an ad on the baskets because this is the first and the last thing people is holding before they are putting the groceries in the plastic bags. This will help reminding the people about the fantastic solution. A facebook link is also included if the viewer want more information.

MAKE THIS THE FUTURE
T-SHIRT BAG
ONE SINGLE PLASTIC BAG CAN TAKE UP TO 1.000 YEARS TO DEGRADE
Turning an old T-shirt into a reusable shopping or grocery bag is a simple, clever craft to help everyone be “green.”
Plastic bags are not biodegradable. They clog waterways, spoil the landscape, and end up in landfills where they may take 1,000 years or more to break down into ever smaller particles that continue to pollute the soil and water.
The popular reusable bag is getting yet another new source: your old T-shirts. Not a job for the weaker of the bunch, a strong cotton blend may be the best foundation for this fresh, fun and useful accessory. Good news is this project is great for beginners and only takes a few steps.
Plastic bags also pose a serious danger to birds and marine mammals that often mistake them for food. Thousands die each year after swallowing or choking on discarded plastic bags. Finally, producing plastic bags requires millions of gallons of petroleum that could be used for transportation or heating. Plastic bags aren’t biodegradable. They actually go through a process called photodegradation—breaking
down into smaller and smaller toxic particles that contaminate both soil and water, and end up entering the food chain when animals accidentally ingest them.
STEP 1 Turn T-shirt inside out and pin bottom of the T-shirt along the hem. Using a sewing machine, sew bottom of T-shirt closed. Flip shirt right side out and lay flat on table, making sure all seams are lined up.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, more than 380 billion plastic bags are used in the United States every year. Of those, approximately 100 billion are plastic shopping bags, which cost retailers about $4 billion annually.
STEP 2 Place medium-size bowl about half-way over the neck hole. Using a watererasable marking pen, trace along the edge of the bowl. Cut along the outline, making sure to go through the front and back sides of the shirt, in order to 1

create an opening for the bag that’s larger than what the neck hole allows. STEP 3 Line up the hems on the front and back side of the sleeve and cut, making sure to go through both sides of the shirt. Repeat on the other sleeve. Tip: A jersey shirt would also work well for this craft, as it is already sleeveless, and it’s made of a great mesh material.
