THE PEOPLE OF TULSA HAVE HAD A COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP WITH JUSTICE. IN A TOWN THAT HAS SEEN ITS FAIR SHARE OF RACIAL VIOLENCE, POLARIZED CITIZENS AND GENERAL UNREST, THE PEOPLE HAVE NOT ALWAYS HAD THE BEST OPINIONS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM. WE WERE TASKED WITH CHANGING THE NARRATIVE OF JUSTICE FROM A PURELY PUNITIVE SYSTEM TO ONE OF RESTORATION AND HOLISTIC COMMUNITY GROWTH. A HEFTY ASK FOR ONE COURTHOUSE. MY PARTNER AND I ANSWERED THIS ASK BY CREATING A SUM OF PARTS. CIRCLES, SYMBOLS OF EQUALITY, ARE BOUND TOGETHER BY ONE COMMON THREAD OF COMMUNITY. INSPIRED BY SCULPTURE AND EXECUTED TO MAXIMIZE AN INTERIOR ASSEMBLY SPACE, OUR COURTHOUSE PRIZES NATURAL LIGHT THROUGH AN ORGANIC TRANSLUCENT ROOF, AND DRAMATIC CURVES CREATE OUTDOOR SPACES FOR RESTORATION AND COMMUNICATION THAT NESTLE THE BUILDING.
