大部分節目,當中許多節目更開放 予世界各地愛好藝術的觀眾 。
衷心祝賀香港藝術節今年踏入第 49 屆 。這一年一度的藝術盛事在新冠 肺炎疫情的挑戰下,仍然辦得有聲 有色,精采可期。
今年藝術節帶來一連串繽紛多彩的 網 上 及 現 場 節 目, 涵 蓋 音 樂、 歌 劇、戲劇、舞蹈、電影等多個藝術 範疇 。總體來說,藝術節會在「遠 在咫尺」的主題下,呈獻合共約三百 場節目、活動及表演。 藝術節的亮點,包括捷克布爾諾國 家歌劇院及其兩年一度「布爾諾楊 納傑克節」的多場精選數碼版歌劇 及音樂會 。同樣引人注目的,還有 兩部取材自英國劇作家尼爾 .巴奈 特改編劇作《鼠疫》的發人深省作 品,一部為英語版,另一部為粵語 版。粵語版為香港本地製作,英語 版則由身處六個地區的六名演員作 網上實時演出。來自蘇格蘭鄉村的 魔術師史葛.蕭凡亦會在網上實時 演出,他的互動作品《心靈旅程》每 場只限三十位觀眾參與 。此外,亦 有十六部慶祝香港賽馬會當代舞蹈 平台十周年的製作,包括與中國內 地及英國藝術家合力創作的作品 。 在藝術節開幕演出中,香港中樂團 會進行兩首曲目的世界首演,而廣 獲讚譽的莫斯科莫伊謝耶夫舞團, 則會為這國際藝壇盛會作閉幕演出。 我很高興市民可於登記後免費觀賞

It gives me great pleasure to congratulate the Hong Kong Arts Festival on the staging of its 49th annual celebration of the arts, and doing so in splendid fashion despite the daunting challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Festival features a cheering range of online and in-venue programmes showcasing music, opera, theatre, dance, film and more. In all, the Festival presents some 300 events, activities and performances under the theme “Separate Together”. Festival highlights include a dazzling digital selection of operas and concerts from the Czech Republic’s National Theatre Brno and its biennial Janá ek Brno Festival. Equally notable are two piercing productions of British playwright Neil Bartlett’s adaptation of The Plague, one in English, the other in Cantonese. The Cantonese version is produced in Hong Kong, while the English version is a live

online performance starring six actors in six time zones. Illusionist Scott Silven also performs online and live, from rural Scotland. His interactive production, The Journey, is limited to 30 participants per show. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series celebrates its 10th anniversary with 16 productions, including collaborations with artists from the Chinese mainland and the United Kingdom. The Festival opens with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra performing two world premieres and concludes its international slate with the acclaimed Igor Moiseyev Ballet from Moscow. I find it particularly gratifying to note that the vast majority of events are available free of charge, upon registration, with many of them open to arts lovers from all over the world. The Arts Festival’s promotion of arts education in schools continues. And PLUS programmes bring together audiences and artists through behindthe-scenes videos, artist dialogues and pre- and post-performance talks. For all that, and much more, I am grateful to the inspired diligence and dedication of the Hong Kong Arts Festival team. My thanks, too, to the sponsors and donors for their generous support of the arts and culture, particularly in these trying times. I wish you all an enjoyable and memorable Hong Kong Arts Festival.

The Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) is a major international arts festival committed to enriching the cultural life of the city by presenting leading local and international artists in all genres of the performing arts in February and March each year. Since its launch in 1973, the HKAF has presented top international artists and ensembles across multiple genres—from music, opera, Chinese opera and ballet to break dance and experimental theatre. International guests have included major state operas, established theatres, top orchestras and stars of the day. We also frequently partner with renowned international artists and institutions to produce exceptional new works. We have also collaborated with Hong Kong’s own creative talent to produce work which is now part of the local canon and to showcase emerging local artists. Over the years, the HKAF has commissioned and produced over 200 local productions across genres including theatre, chamber opera, music and contemporary dance—many with successful subsequent performances in Hong Kong and overseas. As part of our enduring commitment to enriching the cultural life of the city, we organise a diverse range of Festival PLUS activities for the community before and during the Festival to enhance engagement between artists and audiences. These include film screenings, masterclasses, exhibitions,

meet-the-artist sessions and guided backstage and cultural tours. Beyond the main Festival, the HKAF also promotes inclusivity and understanding through the arts. Its “No Limits” project, co-presented with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, strives to create an inclusive space for people with different abilities to share the joy of the arts together. To nurture the next generation of artists and audiences, the HKAF also invests heavily in yearround arts education for young people. Over the past 29 years, our “Young Friends” scheme has reached over 782,000 local secondary and tertiary school students; members can enjoy showcases, pre-performance talks, open rehearsals, Festival performances and in-school workshops led by international and local artists. Donations to the Student Ticket Scheme also make approximately 10,000 half-price student tickets available each year. The HKAF is a non-profit organisation. Its principal income sources are: recurrent funding from the government, box office revenues, and sponsorship and donations made by corporations, individuals and charitable foundations which form a significant portion of total income and also enables the HKAF to receive support from the Government’s matching scheme that matches income generated through private sector sponsorship and donations.

踏入千禧年之後的香港舞壇,經歷過回歸的亢奮,之後的 十年,卻似乎平平淡淡的過去了 。
藝術可以平淡致遠,但藝術圈不能平淡,標新立異的當代 舞圈更加不能 。
創造舞蹈平台的想法,自 2010 年開始——建立一個健康的專
業舞蹈生態圈,讓本地獨立年青編舞及舞者能夠持續發表 新作品及演出,配合藝術節的推廣以至教育外展等培育年 青觀眾的活動,在沉寂的舞壇裏醞釀起一股舞蹈風暴 。
這 個 設 想, 有 幸 得 到 香 港 賽 馬 會 慈 善 信 託 基 金 的 全 力 贊 助,於 2012 年迎來了第一屆平台 。
2021 年,這個平台走過了十年光陰,舞出了一個時代 。
是時候做一個小小的總結了,不是為了懷緬,是為了溫故 知新,繼往開來 。

After the fervour surrounding the reunification, the Hong Kong dance scene went through a rather calm and uneventful decade as it entered the new millennium. Art itself can be placid and mild, but the artistic environment should not be, least of all the contemporary dance scene, which thrives on innovation and experiment. The idea of creating a contemporary dance series began in 2010, to establish a vibrant professional dance ecosystem that would allow young local independent choreographers and dancers to continually present new works and performances. The goal was to create a producing platform integrated with promotion and educational outreach activities to cultivate young audiences, so as to re-energise the local dance scene.
This ambitious vision was fortunate to receive the full funding support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charitable Trust Fund, without which CDS would not have existed for 10 years since 2012. After dancing through a decade in 2021, the series is a key player in the development of contemporary dance. It is time to take a look back at how the series has contributed to a fertile environment for dance in the city. To commemorate is not to bury the past, but to review the present so a new future might be reinvented.

Launched at the 40th Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2012, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series (CDS) is a comprehensive art project that encompasses curation, artistic creation, presentation, production, audience building and contemporary dance education. The CDS commissions young dancers to create independent choreographic works, and it discovers potential artists and provides professional art administration and technical production support, which gives choreographers an opportunity to experiment with their creativity. The dance series also helps independent artists to meet their creative needs within the limitations of the local arts environment by matching choreographers and dancers with composers and costume, set and lighting designers to broaden the creative spectrum of contemporary dance in Hong Kong. 14

與海外藝術家聯手創作的作品將再次登上藝術節的舞 台,在經歷演化後展現更成熟的面貌 。

The CDS encourages collaboration between local and overseas artists to stimulate creative thinking and new production models. Past collaborators include Italian choreographer Alessandro Sciarroni; mainland choreographers from Young Artists Platform of Dance (Beijing), including Xie Xin, Li Chao, Yang Chang, Zhang Yixiang, Gong Zhonghui and Chang Xiaoni and dramaturg Tian Gebing; as well as British dancers Dickson Mbi and Jos Baker, and Belgian sound artist Peter Lenaerts. The tenth anniversary programmes feature some returning works that involve collaborative efforts with overseas artists, which have evolved into more mature pieces since their initial productions. There are also works premiered in the series that have had the opportunity to tour overseas or appear at international dance festivals; these creative visions nurtured in Hong Kong have shone on the international stage. Major international dance festivals that have been graced by CDS alumni include the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), the San Francisco Festival (USA) and the Full Moon Festival (Finland), among others.

Led by professional dance teachers and delivered in a relaxed interactive environment, the programme gives students in Hong Kong secondary schools the chance to immerse themselves in the power of contemporary dance. This prepares students to approach performances with open minds, after which they will also have a chance to chat to the choreographers and reflect on their experiences at post-performance talks. For instance, the tenth anniversary programmes feature a performance tour which infuses dance, drama and personal stories of three contemporary dancers to explore the meaning of contemporary dance with participants. Key points of the tours are summarised for students on educational display panels. Previous events have included school exhibitions, guided talks, workshops, open rehearsals and official performances, as well as preand post-performance guided appreciation sessions.

給予我靈感創作這部新作的, 是生命中那一個個通常被鎖閉 起 的「 盒 子 」。《 Mokita 》 一 字源自基維拉語,巴布亞諸語 言的一種,指那些「我們心知 肚 明, 卻 絕 口 不 提 的 東 西」, 像 英 語 常 說 的「房 間 裏 的 大 象」。 不 論 那 關 於 種 族、 性 別 或是社經地位,我相信那是我 們每天都會遇到的事 。 我希望創造一個世界,將這些 感受轉化成一套能眼見的形體 語言;它無法歸類、難以輕易 理解,但可以被感知,甚或影 響我們對自身的看法 。
我在倫敦進行了研究,邀請了 三位舞者試驗這些概念,透過 自由討論和即興活動去細看並 反思他們的身份及文化根源 。 當中有關毛髮的討論別具意 義, 看 看 從 中 抽 取 DNA 及 個 人資料,如何能幫助分析家族 史 。這啟發了一套我特別感興 趣的形體語言,一套展現了毛 22

The inspiration to create this new work comes from many experiences in my life where things were often left “unspoken”. Mokita, from the Papuan language Kivila, means “the things that we all know but we don’t talk about”, similar to the expression “the elephant in the room”. I believe this is something that we all encounter on a daily basis, whether it be in reference to our race, gender or social and financial status. I wish to create a world that visualises these feelings into a movement language that cannot be categorised or easily understood, but that can be felt and possibly translate into how we see ourselves.

This resulted in a movement language that I’m particularly interested in, which embodies the use of the hair and primal ways of moving. I am extremely excited to be collaborating with Hong Kong dance artists to further explore this movement language on a more profound level and learn more about the dancers’ cultural backgrounds. I am also excited to have the opportunity to exchange our different perspectives on life experiences as well as dance.

Concept and Choreography – Dickson Mbi
Dickson Mbi is an award-winning Hip-Hop dance artist, worldrenowned for Popping which plays an integral part of his work. Born in Cameroon, Mbi grew up in London, trained at Lewisham College and obtained an MA in choreography at London Contemporary Dance School.
He choreographed the winning piece Unstrung for the BBC Young Dancer 2019. He was the associate choreographer for Riz Ahmed’s Manchester International Festival 2020 show The Long Good Bye and was recently awarded the Jerwood Arts Live Work Fund 2021.
He founded the Dickson Mbi Company alongside producer Farooq Chaudhry in 2017, focusing on developing a unique form of expression, fuelled by the desire to unite and create through the human experience. Choreographic commissions for the company include Sadler’s Wells, The Barbican, The Lowry and Dance East. Mbi is also co-director of Fiya House; a collective of artists specialising in Popping who are passionate about the growth and elevation the next generation of UK dancers. Dickson received nominations for Best Achievement in Dance, UK Theatre Awards 2017, Outstanding Male Performer & Emerging Artist, National Dance Awards, Times Breakthrough Artist and South Bank Sky Arts Awards 2018 for his work with Russell Maliphant Company and Boy Blue Entertainment.

Cheung Tsz-kwan graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2012 and obtained a Diploma in Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2014. She has trained in popping dance and contemporary dance for the past ten years. Cheung enjoys travelling and dancing in different places around the world. She aspires to become a free and independent dancer who brings inspiration to others.

孫楠畢業於香港兆基創意書院 及香港知專設計學院音樂及 創 意 媒 體 系, 是 嘻 哈 街 舞 團 隊 FlowRulerz 成 員 。 他 習 藝 多 年, 曾 多 次 參 與 舞 蹈、 劇 場 及音樂演出和創作,曾合作藝 人 包 括 方 皓 玟、E-kids、 蘇 志 尹 等。 他 亦 是 不 同 大 專 院 校 舞蹈學會的排舞師,曾為香港 藝術節香港賽馬會當代舞蹈平 台《微末之物》的創作舞者, 以及擔任 100 毛「萬千呃 like 賀 台 慶」、 千 載 一 念《逝 去 的 花 火》和《那些還未說的…》的 形體指導 。孫楠亦是一位 DJ, 他曾為舞台劇《 Between You & Me 》及《紅牆》作曲,亦不時 在網上發表音樂作品 。
Jimmy Suen graduated from the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity and the Hong Kong Design Institute, majoring in music and creative media. He is a member of the hip-hop street dance group FlowRulerz. Suen has been working in the arts for a number of years, participating in dance, theatre and music performance and composing. He has worked with artists including Fong Homan, E-kids and Andy So, and has been a choreographer for various universities’ dance associations. He was the creator and performer for The Smallest Little Thing, premiered at the HKAF’s CDS, as well as the movement director of 100Most’s Happy TV Most Birthday to Me and Thoughtful Theatre’s The Fading Spark and The Unspoken. Suen has also experimented with music. He is also a DJ, and has composed for the musicals Between You & Me and Bent and published his other musical works online.

Performer Profiles
Kae Wong started dancing in 2008 and was trained in different forms of dance, especially waacking, house and popping. She is a member of Shíyàn z. and an organiser of Waack City HK. In 2016, Wong took part in the street dance music comedy Malade J plus The Right Kind of Wrong, the HAG graduation show Myth of a Changeable Constant and Momento – Zu and Pi the Musical. In the past 11 years, she has been a dancer and judge for many competitions and performances, being an Ocean Park seasonal dancer 2014-2017 and 2019, and a judge of the 2017 Waack City Grand Final in Shanghai, Taiwan Ocean Battle Vol. 13 and the World Final Waacking Top 4. She was also waacking champion of Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups presents Street Dance Carnival in 2019.

羅文偉畢業於香港演藝學院, 主修燈光設計,在學期間獲頒 周生生證券獎學金及演藝學院 友誼社獎學金 。他於 2017 年加 入城市當代舞蹈團,擔任駐團 燈光設計師 。他參與劇場創作 多年,涉獵劇場編導、燈光設 計、舞台設計及錄像設計 。他 現正於香港演藝學院戲劇學院 修讀導演系碩士 。
他曾為不同劇場演出擔任設計 師,作品包括城市當代舞蹈團 《冬 之 旅 . 春 之 祭》、《茫 然 先 生》、《 Re-Mark 》; 香 港 話 劇 團《極樂過山車》;黎海寧編舞 作 品《 Frida 》; 前 進 進 戲 劇 工 作坊《會客室 - Best Wishes 》; 風車草劇團《告別之後》;多空 間《冇關係》;Trodden Dreams x MW 舞蹈劇場《火滅》;香港 演藝學院《六個尋找劇作家的 角色》、《熒 .睿》等 。

Raymond Law graduated from the HKAPA, majoring in lighting design. He was awarded Chow Sang Sang Securities Scholarships and The Society of APA Scholarship. He joined City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) as resident lighting designer in 2017. He has been involved in theatre art for a number of years, and has served widely as a director, lighting designer, set designer and video designer. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in drama, learning in depth the major disciplines of directing. Law has lit many stage productions including CCDC’s Mr Blank, Winterreise·The Rite of Spring, Mr Blank, Remark; Hong Kong Repertory Theatre’s Euthanasia Coaster, Helen Lai’s Frida; On & On Theatre Workshop’s Best Wishes; Windmill Grass Theatre’s Ever After; Y space’s None of Your Business; Trodden Dreams x MW Dance Theatre’s Put Out the Flame; HKAPA’s Six Characters in Search of an Author, Luminous!, and more. Law is also active in theatre making. In 2009, he formed INSPIRE Workshop, a theatre company aiming to create multimedia stage work with excellent performance. Jaycee Kwok graduated from the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts of the HKAPA in sound design and sound recording. His recent sound design works include the 2019 Hong Kong Arts Festival’s Pavilion of a Hundred Flowers (toured in Hong Kong and mainland China) and Elephant in the Room; Ah Yin’s I Sick Leave Tomorrow and I Sick Leave Tomorrow “Season 1–3”; Kearen Pang Production’s Laugh Me to the Moon; 100Most’s I Kill Die Jor Dear Customer; The Radiant Theatre’s Magic Ichiba, Rubber Man, Magic Tofu Flower (Re-run), Starry, Pillow Talk 5 and Beautiful Sounds; Hong Kong Repertory’s The Ward, A Dream Like a Dream, SCROOGE – the Musical, and Reincarnation of the Prunus Mume, among others. Vanessa Suen graduated from the HKAPA where she majored in set and costume design; she was awarded several scholarships during her studies. She also won Best Stage Design at the 27th Hong Kong Drama Awards for Theatre Horizon’s Peer Gynt. She was nominated for Best Stage Design at the 19th Hong Kong Drama Awards for Dead Man’s Cell Phone at Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio. Her work on Heteroglossia Theatre’s Foreign Land earned her a nomination for Scenography of the Year at the IATC(HK) Critics’ Awards. DRAMATURG’S NOTE
我和我的紙老虎團隊曾兩次受 邀在香港藝術節演出,由此與 香 港 藝 術 節 結 緣。 大 約 兩 年 前,聽香港藝術節副節目總監 蘇先生說起藝術節的青年編舞 平台,有意推動香港本地年輕 藝 術 家 的 創 作, 並 邀 請 我 參 與,幫助年輕編舞們工作 。我 深感榮幸 ! 多年來,我每次來 港工作,都得到很多可愛的香 港年輕人幫助,能為他們做點 事,正是求之不得 。 回想二十多年前,內地解禁之 初,很多表演領域的國際藝術 風潮、觀念和訊息,都是經由 香港這個窗口吹撒到當時也正 年輕的我這一代人身上,現在 能反身做些些微的回哺,幸莫 甚焉 。
兩年來,兩次赴港皆被疫情所 阻,不能親身現場工作,只能 跨屏幕與各位年輕人相見 。但 在種種限制情況下,仍然能深 切感受到香港年輕一代的所思 所慮、他們的境遇和才華 。在 香港這樣一個生機勃勃又背負 了諸多歷史命運之地,不誕生 36
Upon the HKAF’s invitation, Tian’s Paper Tiger Theatre Studio and I have had the honour of presenting our performances on the Festival stage twice. To encourage the creative endeavour of local rising choreographers, Mr So Kwokwan, the HKAF’s associate programme director, has invited me to join the Festival’s young choreographers’ platform. Given a superb opportunity to assist these young talents, I felt extremely privileged. Whenever I visited Hong Kong, many lovely young souls lent me a helping hand. Thus, I am equally grateful to do something for them. Reminiscent of the city 20 years ago when the mainland had just opened up, Hong Kong was the window of international artistic waves, concepts and beliefs across various disciplines of performing arts. Such an influx of ideas at that time has greatly influenced the young generation on the mainland, including me. Today, I am more than fortunate to return my artistic intellect to

this beloved city. In these two tempestuous years, the pandemic has twice thwarted me from travelling to Hong Kong. Without on-site encounters, I could only greet the youngsters through my computer screen. Despite these restrictions, I could still synchronise with these thoughtful and talented minds. Such a vibrant place with complex histories and fates, is absolutely one of the best cradles of top-notch choreographers and artists. Indeed, art and theatre are always the pathway to resistance and resurrection. I sincerely hope that my slight contribution to Hong Kong theatres, in particular this collaborative project, will provide assistance to the teenagers, embarking on their long journey in theatres!

「用 舞 蹈 去 說 話, 似 是 老 生 常 談, 可 是 誰 在 說 話 ? 說 怎 樣 的 話 ? 說給誰聽 ? 是次作品以『舉手』(幾乎每個人都做過的動 作)為藍本,然而舉左手或右手有分別嗎 ? 手舉到哪裏會影響 到本身的涵義嗎 ? 手掌的方向重要嗎 ?
舉手,可以是標誌納粹的禁忌動作,可以是象徵自古以來投票的 其中一個方法,可以單純是演唱會中舉手投足的投入擺動。通過 拆解『舉手』包含的表現性及隱藏的脈絡,再把觀眾置身一場有關 動作的『拍賣會』中,動作所謂的價值由賣方和買方共同決定。 」
“Using dance to speak one’s mind seems rather clichéd. Still, who is speaking, what to speak, and to whom do we speak remain unanswered questions. The blueprint of this work develops from ‘hand-raising’, an everyday gesture performed by all of us. Here, it is also unanswered whether it makes any difference which hand to raise, whether the extent affects the meaning of the gesture, and whether the direction of the hand matters. Hand-raising can be interpreted as a taboo Nazi or fascist salute, as one of the well-established means of voting, or simply as a natural response to rhythms in a pop concert. Revealing the expressivity and hidden contexts behind hand-raising, this work situates the audience in an ‘auction’ of gestures, in which the so-called exchange values are mutually negotiated by the sellers and the purchasers.”

馬師雅畢業於香港演藝學院舞 蹈系,主修現代舞及編舞,取 得學士(榮譽)學位,在學時 曾 獲 頒 發 多 項 獎 學 金。 她 於 2007 年獲選入威廉 .科西舞蹈 團 的 Forsythe’s Project 接 受 訓 練;2012 年再獲美國舞蹈節編 舞獎學金赴河南交流,並發表 作品《 Base-Line II 》。 她畢業後積極與不同藝術媒介 和藝術家合作與交流,包括香 港藝術節、新視野藝術節及西 九文化區等,亦曾赴美國、荷 蘭、意大利、台灣、韓國等地 藝術節作演出 。 近 期 創 作 包 括《 烏 》、《 點 指》、《 Soulless 》、《舞 蹈 青 年 2015 》、《樓上樓下》、《嘰哩咕 嚕音樂家》等 。當中《烏》獲 選 參 與 韓 國 2019 年 南 韓 NDA 國 際 舞 蹈 節,《點 指》 則 於 2020 年獲邀到日本、新加坡、 韓國及澳門作演出 。

Alice Ma graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the HKAPA (Honours), majoring in contemporary dance and choreography. She was awarded several scholarships during her studies. In 2007, she was selected to work in Forsythe’s 42
Project, which was conducted by the world-renowned William Forsythe Dance Company. In 2012, she received a scholarship from the American Dance Festival for artistic exchange in Henan, and premiered her work Base-Line II. Organisations and artists she has collaborated with include the Hong Kong Arts Festival, ReNew Vision, West Kowloon Cultural District and more. She has also performed at arts festivals in the United States, the Netherlands, Italy, Taiwan and South Korea. Her recent choreography credits include Wu, Over-master, Soulless, WuDaoQingNian 2015 and Upstairs Downstairs, Town Musicians and more. In 2019, Wu was selected as part of the Seoul NDA International Festival’s programme. In 2020, Over-master was invited to tour in Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Macau. She has been a part-time instructor at City Contemporary Dance Company Dance Centre since 2009 and at the HKAPA School of Dance since 2016. In 2020, she received the Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer Award at the 22nd Hong Kong Dance Awards, where her work Over-master was nominated for Outstanding Choreography.

Dever Chan graduated from the HKAPA, majoring in contemporary dance. He was a full-time dancer in Taiwan Cloud Gate 2 from 2010 to 2018. Besides stage performances, he has devoted himself to promoting dance to various age groups, resident schools, campus tours and exhibitions. He is now a freelance dance artist, exploring different roles and identities in the performing arts industry.

Pansy Lo graduated from the HKAPA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance in 2015, majoring in ballet. She joined CCDC as a full-time apprentice dancer after graduation. She is now a freelance dancer and choreographer. She has worked with different art groups, including CCDC, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre and E-Side Dance Company. She was awarded several scholarships. In 2014, she represented HKAPA School of Dance in ImPulsTanz’s Biblioteca Do Corpo. Lo presented her first choreography …Choosing… in 2014. In 2018, she was invited to Tainan to perform her second work Losing Soul; in 2019, she presented The Beauty of Restriction in E-Side Dance Company’s Activation 7+.

陳偉洛是香港創作人及表演 者,於香港中文大學建築系畢 業後曾就讀奧地利薩爾斯堡舞 蹈 實 驗 學 院, 其 後 於 2016 至 2018 年 度 及 2018 至 2019 年 度 分別獲歐洲聯盟委員會轄下的 「創 意 歐 洲 DNA 網 絡」及 香 港 賽馬會音樂及舞蹈信託基金頒 發獎學金,入讀比利時表演藝 術訓練及研究所,並於 2019 年 畢業 。
陳偉洛於 2021 年發表最新作品 《 Click 》, 作 品 探 討 表 演 性 及 編排 。近期創作包括 2019 年獨 舞作品《 Everyone knows what it means to think 》及與瑪琳娜 . 瑪 蓮 達 合 編 的《 /bI'twi:n/ 》, 探討觀者詮釋表演時的個人選 擇及自由 。
陳偉洛曾參演克里斯汀 .杜阿 提 2018 年 創 作 的《釋 放 一 切》 及梅度 .貝納魯 2019 年創作的 《我們是未來》,作品於歐洲及 南美演出 。同年演出安娜 .泰 瑞 莎 . 姬 爾 美 可 2019 年 新 作 《夢》,於比利時首演 。 他於 2020 年與夥伴成立獨立藝 術空間牛吉地,旨在探索如何 與同業們共享場地資源 。
Choerographer and Performer Profiles
Chan Wai-lok is a choreographer and performer from Hong Kong. He studied at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (Austria) after graduating in architecture from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He furthered his studies in Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (Belgium) in 2019 upon receiving scholarships from the [DNA] network, supported by Creative Europe under the European Commission (2016–2018) and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund (2018–2019). Chan’s more recent work Click (2021) explores the ideas of performativity and choreography. Democratic interpretation and emancipation in audiences is the main theme he has been exploring in his recent solo Everyone knows what it means to think (2019) and a collaboration with Mariana Miranda, /bI'twi:n/ (2019). He performed in Let It All Out (2018), created by Cristian Duarte and worked with Meytal Blanaru in We Were the Future (2019), which toured in Europe and South America. His latest collaboration, Somnia (2019), with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, was also premiered in Belgium. He is the co-founder of the independent art space “ngau4 gat1 dei6”, which aims to promote resource sharing among the counterparts in the performing arts industry. 45

Dramaturg – Tian Gebing
Tian Gebing graduated from Beijing’s Central Academy of Drama. He founded Paper Tiger Theatre Studio in 1997. Since then, he has collaborated with artists from different areas and coordinated numerous works and arts activities which have been performed in major international arts festivals. He has created cross-cultural theatre works since 2010, important works including Totally Happy (Münchner Kammerspiele), Dekalog (Narodowy Stary Teatr Krakow), 500 Meters: Kafka, Great Wall or Images from the Unreal World and Daily Heroism (Thalia Theater Hamburg and Theater der Welt) and Infection, State of Emergency, Beethoven (OCT Contemporary Art Terminal, Shenzhen), among others. As curator and judge, he curated Caochangdi Work Station’s Young Playwright and Director Scheme (2005–2011), Belgium Pioneer Performance in China (2012), Playing the Fool Theatre Festival (2012 and 2016), Power Station of Art’s experimental performing arts festival ReActor (2015–2017) and Shenzhen OCT Contemporary Art Terminal's Waiting for Testing - Rewriting Theatre History (2020), among others.

黎子瑜畢業於國立臺北藝術大 學,獲頒劇場設計碩士學位, 主 修 燈 光 設 計。 他 主 要 從 事 劇場燈光設計、裝置創作及技 術統籌等工作,嘗試尋找不同 表演藝術作品中獨特的光影語 言 。近年作品包括香港文化中 心 三 十 周 年《燕 宇 春 徽》、 大 館 舞 季《非 變 之 舞》、 香 港 藝 術節賽馬會當代舞蹈平台《舞 鬥》 系 列、《 BON 4 BON 》、 《二 延 體: 誘 發》、《回 聲 摺 疊》等 。其作品《備忘錄》入 選 2017 年世界劇場設計展新銳 組別 。
Lai Tze-yu obtained his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design, majoring in lighting, from the Taipei National University of the Arts. He currently works in lighting design, installation and technical coordination. He explores the unique languages of light and shadow in different forms of performing arts. His major designs include: Hong Kong Cultural Centre’s Yin Yu Chun Fai, Tai Kwun Dance Season’s Morphing, Hong Kong Arts Festival Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series’s Dance Off, BON 4 BON, Shuffle and Folding Echoes. 梁子蔚畢業於香港演藝學院, 獲頒藝術學士(榮譽)學位, 主 修 舞 台 及 服 裝 設 計。 在 校 期 間, 她 於 進 念 . 二 十 面 體 聯合製作、榮念曾執導的《看 不見的城市》擔任舞台及服裝 設 計, 亦 在《舞 蹈 三 部 曲: 慶 典》為 編 舞 家 桑 吉 加 創 作 的《我們笑着舞蹈》擔任服裝 設計 。
梁子蔚畢業後與舞台單位、機 構和中小學合作,擔任助理服 裝 設 計 師 和 服 裝 主 管。 近 期 作品包括為香港話劇團 x 小息 《視 外 之 景》及 orleanlaiproject 「風 平 草 動」系 列《樂 園(終 章)》和《清 醒 做 夢 時 間》擔 任設計服裝 。除舞台外,她曾 為多間中學和教育機構擔任時 裝設計導師、教授工作坊,以 及協助不同品牌活動及時裝表 演 。 她亦曾在品牌 niin 實習, 擔任助理珠寶設計師,後於不 同品牌協助時裝表演等活動 。 她現為自由身創作人 。
Jade Leung graduated from the HKAPA, majoring in set and costume design. Leung has been involved in set and costume design for numerous school productions including Invisible Cities, directed by Danny Yung of Zuni Icosahedron. She was also the costume designer for the dance production Pathos, choreographed by Sang Jijia. She worked as an assistant costume designer and wardrobe manager for theatre groups and schools after graduating. She has recently worked as costume designer for Hong
Kong Repertory Theatre and Littlebreath Creative Workshop’s Project Seeing and orleanlaiproject’s Paradise: Epilogue and only when you sleep, it works. She has also worked as wardrobe manager for Hong Kong Arts Festival’s Danz Up, Macbeth, Ghost Love and Sing Out. Her latest costume design work was Paradise: Epilogue, with choreographer-director Chan Kwun-fee, in the Wild Is the Grass series held at Tai Kwun. She works as a fashion design instructor for workshops in schools and educational institutions, and assists in activities and fashion shows for different brands. She worked as an intern assistant designer at the jewellery brand niin, and later assisted with fashion shows and various events. She is now a freelancer.

Gloria Ngai received her bachelor’s degree from the HKAPA and her master’s degree from Central Saint Martins. After graduation, she has collaborated with many performing arts organisations in Hong Kong, including the HKAF, Opera Hong Kong, Zuni Icosahedron, City Chamber Orchestra, Tang Shu Wing Theatre Studio, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Yat Po Singers. Gloria is a widely recognised production manager for opera and international touring productions. 雙演出《火滅》/《煉金》呈獻兩部作品於平台首演後的成熟面貌:《火滅》 以肢體動作探索一對相處日久的夫妻的張弛關係,而《煉金》則由短篇發 展至中篇形式,進一步展現身體、氣球、燈光及音響之間的化學作用 。 This double-bill performance showcases the development of two works since their premiere at CDS. Put Out the Flame narrates the emotions behind a married couple’s every-day routine with their sharp, gravity-defying movements, while the extended-length revival of Hermetic Diode plays with body, plastic bubble, sound installation and visual art elements.

Dance artists from Hong Kong and mainland China seek an answer in this playful, incisive double-bill. Elephant in the Room is an ensemble portrait of the masks we wear to shield the entirely visible but inconvenient truths. A brandnew collaborative creation, Dirty explores societal restrictions of the body while invoking the wild, animalistic origins of movement.
