大部分節目,當中許多節目更開放 予世界各地愛好藝術的觀眾 。

衷心祝賀香港藝術節今年踏入第 49 屆 。這一年一度的藝術盛事在新冠 肺炎疫情的挑戰下,仍然辦得有聲 有色,精采可期。

今年藝術節帶來一連串繽紛多彩的 網 上 及 現 場 節 目, 涵 蓋 音 樂、 歌 劇、戲劇、舞蹈、電影等多個藝術 範疇 。總體來說,藝術節會在「遠 在咫尺」的主題下,呈獻合共約三百 場節目、活動及表演。 藝術節的亮點,包括捷克布爾諾國 家歌劇院及其兩年一度「布爾諾楊 納傑克節」的多場精選數碼版歌劇 及音樂會 。同樣引人注目的,還有 兩部取材自英國劇作家尼爾 .巴奈 特改編劇作《鼠疫》的發人深省作 品,一部為英語版,另一部為粵語 版。粵語版為香港本地製作,英語 版則由身處六個地區的六名演員作 網上實時演出。來自蘇格蘭鄉村的 魔術師史葛.蕭凡亦會在網上實時 演出,他的互動作品《心靈旅程》每 場只限三十位觀眾參與 。此外,亦 有十六部慶祝香港賽馬會當代舞蹈 平台十周年的製作,包括與中國內 地及英國藝術家合力創作的作品 。 在藝術節開幕演出中,香港中樂團 會進行兩首曲目的世界首演,而廣 獲讚譽的莫斯科莫伊謝耶夫舞團, 則會為這國際藝壇盛會作閉幕演出。 我很高興市民可於登記後免費觀賞

藝術節一如以往,在學校推廣藝術 教育,並透過幕後花絮影片、藝術 家對談、演前及演後講座等「加料 節目」,讓觀眾與藝術家互動交流 。

It gives me great pleasure to congratulate the Hong Kong Arts Festival on the staging of its 49th annual celebration of the arts, and doing so in splendid fashion despite the daunting challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Festival features a cheering range of online and in-venue programmes showcasing music, opera, theatre, dance, film and more. In all, the Festival presents some 300 events, activities and performances under the theme “Separate Together”. Festival highlights include a dazzling digital selection of operas and concerts from the Czech Republic’s National Theatre Brno and its biennial Janá ek Brno Festival. Equally notable are two piercing productions of British playwright Neil Bartlett’s adaptation of The Plague, one in English, the other in Cantonese. The Cantonese version is produced in Hong Kong, while the English version is a live

online performance starring six actors in six time zones. Illusionist Scott Silven also performs online and live, from rural Scotland. His interactive production, The Journey, is limited to 30 participants per show. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series celebrates its 10th anniversary with 16 productions, including collaborations with artists from the Chinese mainland and the United Kingdom. The Festival opens with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra performing two world premieres and concludes its international slate with the acclaimed Igor Moiseyev Ballet from Moscow. I find it particularly gratifying to note that the vast majority of events are available free of charge, upon registration, with many of them open to arts lovers from all over the world. The Arts Festival’s promotion of arts education in schools continues. And PLUS programmes bring together audiences and artists through behindthe-scenes videos, artist dialogues and pre- and post-performance talks. For all that, and much more, I am grateful to the inspired diligence and dedication of the Hong Kong Arts Festival team. My thanks, too, to the sponsors and donors for their generous support of the arts and culture, particularly in these trying times. I wish you all an enjoyable and memorable Hong Kong Arts Festival.

香港藝術節於 1973 年正式揭幕,是國際藝壇中 重要的文化盛事,於每年 2、3 月期間呈獻眾多優 秀本地及國際藝術家的演出,致力豐富香港的文 化生活 。 藝術節的節目精采多元,涉獵音樂、歌劇、戲 曲、實驗劇場、芭蕾舞以至街舞等林林總總的類 型 。過往曾獲邀在藝術節舞台表演的國際演藝名 家及團體包括一流的國家歌劇院、劇團、管弦樂 團,以及眾多具代表性的表演者等 。我們亦經常 與傑出的國際藝術家及團體攜手製作演出 。

The Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) is a major international arts festival committed to enriching the cultural life of the city by presenting leading local and international artists in all genres of the performing arts in February and March each year. Since its launch in 1973, the HKAF has presented top international artists and ensembles across multiple genres—from music, opera, Chinese opera and ballet to break dance and experimental theatre. International guests have included major state operas, established theatres, top orchestras and stars of the day. We also frequently partner with renowned international artists and institutions to produce exceptional new works. We have also collaborated with Hong Kong’s own creative talent to produce work which is now part of the local canon and to showcase emerging local artists. Over the years, the HKAF has commissioned and produced over 200 local productions across genres including theatre, chamber opera, music and contemporary dance—many with successful subsequent performances in Hong Kong and overseas. As part of our enduring commitment to enriching the cultural life of the city, we organise a diverse range of Festival PLUS activities for the community before and during the Festival to enhance engagement between artists and audiences. These include film screenings, masterclasses, exhibitions,


為了培養未來的藝術家和觀眾,我們大力投資下 一代的藝術教育 。「青少年之友」成立 29 年來, 已為逾 782,000 位本地中學生及大專生提供藝術 體驗活動 。會員可參加由國際及本地藝術家主持 的示範講座及工作坊、學生展演、演前講座、公 開彩排,以及欣賞藝術節演出等 。通過「學生票 捐助計劃」,藝術節每年亦提供約 10,000 張半價 學生票 。

香港藝術節是一所非牟利機構,其主要收入除了 政府的恆常資助及票房外,極大一部分來自各大 企業、熱心人士和慈善基金會的贊助和捐款,以 及政府針對捐款和贊助收入而提供的配對資助 。

meet-the-artist sessions and guided backstage and cultural tours. Beyond the main Festival, the HKAF also promotes inclusivity and understanding through the arts. Its “No Limits” project, co-presented with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, strives to create an inclusive space for people with different abilities to share the joy of the arts together. To nurture the next generation of artists and audiences, the HKAF also invests heavily in yearround arts education for young people. Over the past 29 years, our “Young Friends” scheme has reached over 782,000 local secondary and tertiary school students; members can enjoy showcases, pre-performance talks, open rehearsals, Festival performances and in-school workshops led by international and local artists. Donations to the Student Ticket Scheme also make approximately 10,000 half-price student tickets available each year. The HKAF is a non-profit organisation. Its principal income sources are: recurrent funding from the government, box office revenues, and sponsorship and donations made by corporations, individuals and charitable foundations which form a significant portion of total income and also enables the HKAF to receive support from the Government’s matching scheme that matches income generated through private sector sponsorship and donations.

劇情大綱

SYNOPSIS

年 輕 的 孫 帝 象 剛 從 檀 香 山 留 洋 回 來, 矢 志 改 變 迂 腐 的 中 國 。他於領洗成為基督徒時,改名「孫日新」。憑着滿腔 熱誠和堅定理念,孫日新與好兄弟陸皓東、陳少白、楊鶴

齡、 尢 列 等 人 開 始 秘 密 策 劃 革 命, 眾 人 鬥 志 激 昂, 揭 竿 起義……

然而孫日新真正最重要的鬥爭,其實從未記載在這段耳熟 能詳的歷史之中……

The young Sun Tai-cheong, having just finished studying abroad at Honolulu and returned to his hometown in Guangdong, is determined to bring changes to the corrupted China. He then changes his name to “Sun Yat-sen” after being baptised as a Christian. Fuelled by overflowing enthusiasm and perseverance, he teams up with his comrades Luk Ho-tung, Chan Siu-pak, Yeung Hok-ling, Yau Lit and other like-minded folk, secretly planning for revolutions against the Qing government. The group rises in ardent spirit and an uprising is imminent… Sun’s truly pivotal fight, however, has never been recorded on this familiar page of history…

THE FOUR BANDITS MUSICAL

兩年多前,香港藝術節打算委約香港藝術家,創作一個關於年輕孫中山的 音樂劇,先找上音樂家金培達 。由他開始,到 2020 年加入導演馬嘉晉,再 找來編劇陳詠燊及作詞人岑偉宗,《日新》的四人創作團隊成形 。有二十年

音樂劇創作經驗的岑偉宗說,過去都是編劇先寫了一些內容,才找音樂 / 作

詞人,但這次大家由頭談起,「將東西建立再打碎,寫好再修正,是很健康 的創作過程 。」

Two years ago, the Hong Kong Arts Festival began commissioning local artists to create a musical about the young Sun Yat-sen. First, they brought musician Peter Kam on board, before director Eugene Ma, playwright Sunny Chan and lyricist Chris Shum joined the team, as the Yat-sen creative quartet began to take shape. Shum, who has 20 years of experience creating musicals, says that it would usually be the playwright who makes the first drafts before bringing in musicians and lyricists. But this time, everyone was involved from the beginning, taking part in a journey that he described as “building something and then smashing it, by writing and then polishing; it’s a very healthy creative process”. the works, and they shared with the HKAF their experience of the creative process throughout the production. 18

用音樂劇去寫年輕孫中山,可 以 怎 寫 ? 陳 詠 燊 說:「在 這 年 代談奮鬥很容易流於口號式, 我喜歡寫勵志片,但勵志片不 容易寫 。」他深思熟慮,決定 作品要避免歌頌孫中山 。 他說孫中山對自己而言,又熟 悉又遙遠,開始做資料搜集及 創作後,他明白孫中山也只是 一 個 人, 有 很 多 缺 點,「他 由 叫 口 號, 到 下 定 決 心 改 變 世 界,到底要動用多少資源,做 多少行動?這是一個年輕人 準備改變世界的成長故事 。現 在我沒從前那麼佩服他,但欣 賞他在挫敗和矛盾中的遊走能 力 。近年我寫的每一個作品, 命 題 都 是〔關 於 主 角〕 做 自 己,角色的優缺點都要自己承 受 。」 金培達說在創作上,團隊是藉 大 人 物 讓 平 凡 人 看 自 己:「每 個人都要一點時間去找到自己 位置和使命 。」 馬嘉晉說,孫中山最初在美國 讀書,從小成績優異,畢業後 回到廣州,一開始無法融入社 會,「以 外 來 者 的 身 份 回 來, 他的挫敗、經歷,怎樣令他蛻 變成自己想成為的人 ?」 談年紀,導演比其他三人小一 截, 但 若 講 到 音 樂 劇 上 的 經 驗,反而是從事電影編劇多年 的 陳 詠 燊 是 新 人, 他 說:「我 很喜歡音樂劇電影,例如《芝 加 哥》、《星 聲 夢 裡 人》, 一 直 想做音樂劇電影,我曾跟電影 公司老闆談過,他們叫我不用 再想了 。難得這次遇上機會, 我很興奮 。」

Finding one’s calling How does one write a musical about a young Sun Yat-sen? “In this era, talk of action can easily be reduced to shouting slogans,” Chan says. “I really enjoy writing motivational stories, but they’re not easy to write.” He thought long and hard, and decided the show would avoid singing Sun’s praises. Chan said that, to him, Sun felt familiar yet distant, but after Chan began his research and started the creative process, he understood that Sun was also just another human being, with many flaws. “From chanting slogans to making the decision to change the world, how many resources did it take, for how much action? This is a story of a young man growing up as he prepares to change the world. I am less in awe of him now than I was, but I admire his ability to continue on his path, despite the failures and challenges he faced. In recent years, every piece I’ve written has been about finding one’s calling, which means the protagonist has to take responsibility for his/her good and bad qualities.” Kam says that, in creating the musical, the team used the iconic figure to inspire others to look inside themselves. “Everyone needs time to find their own positioning and calling.” Ma says that Sun Yat-sen studied in the USA, earning stellar grades from a young age. After graduating, he returned to Guangzhou but struggled to reintegrate into society there. “He came back as an outsider. How did his failures, his experiences mould him into the person he envisioned for himself?”

Of the four creatives on the show, the director is by far the youngest. But in terms of experience in musical theatre, it’s Chan who’s the newcomer. “I love musical films, such as Chicago and La La Land, and I’ve always wanted to work on one,” the veteran screenwriter says, “I’ve talked to film company bosses about this, but they told me to forget it. This is such a precious opportunity, I’m so excited.” Moving the story with song The artistic language in musical theatre is different from in film. What is usually expressed through dialogue is, in Yat-sen, entrusted to the lyricist, while the expression of emotion is the work of the music rather than the camera. The four creators had to work closely together to produce a worthy piece of art. The creative process involved a lot of interaction, according to Chan. “I had to learn to determine when to use dialogue, when to begin the song,” he says. “For plot progression and the expression of deep emotion, that’s when you hand it over to the songs.” Kam says he has worked on a lot of film soundtracks, where things are different: “In film, emotions can be expressed using close-ups, without dialogue, which gives the audience space to interpret the moment themselves. But in musicals, there’s no blank space—the point of the songs is to move the plot forward.” As for the lyrics? “I believe the lyrics have to express action,” Shum says. “For example, where 19

以歌曲推進劇情

音樂劇的藝術語言跟電影有 別,平常角色透過對白表達, 《日新》必須把部份台詞交予作 詞人,部份情緒表達,由鏡頭 交予音樂 。四個創作人緊密合 作,方有佳作 。

陳詠燊提及創作過程中有很多 互 動:「我 要 學 習 分 析 甚 麼 時 候 用 台 詞, 甚 麼 時 候 交 給 歌 曲。 戲 劇 推 進 和 深 刻 的 情 緒 表達,就交給歌曲 。」金培達 說:「我 做 很 多 電 影 配 樂, 電 影表達情緒會用特寫鏡頭,不 用對白,觀眾有自己的演繹空 20

dialogue might say ‘I hate you’, in musicals, it has to be, ‘I will kill you’.” He explains that the former needs only to convey emotion, but by adding an element of action, the plot can be moved on. Shum understands the special characteristics of Cantonese and has deep knowledge about writing lyrics in the language. He agrees with composer Leon Ko, who says Cantonese has a huge range of intricate expressiveness when speaking with different people. “There are five levels of expressiveness in Cantonese: grace, brilliance, wittiness,

crassness, spitefulness,” he says. “The pop songs we heard growing up were mostly written to show grace. If a creator does not take this into account when writing for a musical, every character might end up being graceful, and so end up the same.” Working in his mother tongue Cantonese, after living in North America for more than a decade and mostly directing in English, Ma agrees it feels different and is more emotional. He has more than ten years’ experience acting in and directing musicals, and should be teaching theatre at

那歌詞的作用又是怎樣 ? 岑偉 宗 說:「我 認 為 歌 詞 要 講 到 動 作,例如平常對白寫『我好恨 你』, 在 音 樂 劇 上 要 寫 成『我 要殺死你』。」他解釋,前者只 流於純粹情緒表達,若加上了 動作即可推動劇情 。 岑了解廣東話語韻,對以廣東 話 入 詞 素 有 研 究。 他 認 同 作 曲家高世章所說,跟不同人談 話,廣東話在使用上語感的精 緻 程 度 極 大,「廣 東 話 有 五 個 語感層次:雅、妙、趣、俗、 鄙 。我們聽流行曲長大,多用 雅言入詞,如果創作人沒有留 意,寫音樂劇,每個角色都用 上雅,就人人都一樣 。」

他透露,香港的製作因時間資 源所限,一般較流水作業,通 常沒有時間做工作坊,但這次 以工作坊形式由演員把歌曲試 唱, 將 基 本 戲 劇 結 構 呈 現, 「工 作 坊 的 作 用 是 放 大 缺 點, 有問題可馬上調整 。」

由零星想法到組成團隊,將材 料創作整合,一再打磨,在疫 情下這一年,大家透過網絡開 會,作品漸漸成型,正如金培 達 所 言:「希 望 觀 眾 看 過 這 個 work-in-progress(階段性創作) 的音樂劇作品後,會用新的角 度去看今後的香港音樂劇 。」

對於以母語廣東話創作,在北 美生活十多年、以往多執導英 文作品的導演認為感受不同, 更易觸動 。馬嘉晉有十多年演 出及執導音樂劇的經驗,本來 正在美國三間大學教導戲劇, 因應美國疫情下工作停頓,暫 時 回 港 。 他 說:「傳 統 戲 劇 通 常只有一個視點,但音樂劇有 三個作者,作為導演我要綜合 大家的視點 。」

three US universities; but the pandemic has forced him back to Hong Kong for now. He says, “In traditional theatre, there’s usually just one visual focus, but with musicals there are three authors, and as director, I have to combine everyone's visual points.” He reveals that Hong Kong's productions are often limited by time and resources, leaving them operating more like a factory line, with no time to workshop anything. But in this production the team is running workshops with the actors, which allows them to trial the songs and bring the bare bones of the musical to life. “The point of workshopping is to magnify the shortcomings, so we can immediately fix any problems that emerge.” From the germs of scattered ideas to forming a team, during the pandemic everyone worked together via online conferencing, bringing all the material together and working on it until the musical began to take shape. As Kam says, “I hope that after seeing this work-in-progress, audiences will view Hong Kong musicals in a new way.”

金培達是香港著名作曲家,他 曾 創 作 多 部 華 語 音 樂 劇, 包 括《留 住 愛》、《天 龍 八 部》、 《啊 ! 鼓嶺》、《愛在星光裏》、 獲 獎 無 數 的《媽 媽 再 愛 我 一 次》, 以 及 2015 年 第 17 屆 中 國  上海國際藝術節的開幕演出 《猶太人在上海》。2017 年,他 首度創作歌劇《林徽因》。 他曾為超過一百部電影譜曲, 作 品 風 格 多 變 而 動 人, 更 曾 十一次獲頒香港電影金像獎最 佳原創音樂與最佳原創歌曲 獎 。1999 年憑《紫雨風暴》獲 金馬獎最佳原創音樂獎;2006 年憑《伊莎貝拉》獲柏林國際 電影節最佳電影音樂銀熊獎, 是該國際獎項第一位華人得獎 者 。 近 期 作 品 包 括《七 月 與 安生》、《北京遇上西雅圖》系 列、《寒 戰》系 列 及 2018 年 獲 得香港電影最佳原創歌曲獎的 《大樂師・為愛配樂》。 此 外, 他 獲 香 港 特 別 行 政 區 政府邀請委約創作香港回歸十

Peter Kam is a renowned Hong Kong composer. Kam has written numerous musical theatre works, including And Then There’s You, Born to Be a Hero, Love You Teresa, Ah! Ku Liang, the awardwinning Mama Love Me Once Again and Jews in Shanghai, which opened the Shanghai International Arts Festival in 2015. In 2017 Kam composed his first opera Lin Huiyin.

by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR to compose, “Just Because You Are Here”, the theme song for the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR. In addition, he was commissioned to compose the theme song for the Beijing 2008 Olympics’ one-year countdown campaign theme song. In 2008, the Hong Kong government awarded him the Medal of Honour for his contributions to the arts.

Kam is an eleven-time winner of Best Original Film Music and Best Original Song at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Known for his diversified and moving compositions, he has scored over 100 films. In 1999, he won Best Original Score for Purple Storm at the 36th Golden Horse Award. In 2006, he won the Silver Bear for Best Film Music for Isabella at the Berlin International Film Festival, a first for a Chinese composer. His recent movie scores include Soulmate, Helios, the Finding Mr Right series, the Cold War series, as well as Concerto of The Bully, which won Best Original Song at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2018. Playwright – Sunny Chan

Sunny Chan is a screenwriter and film director. He graduated from the HKAPA and from Lingnan University with a Master of Arts in Chinese in 2000. Over 20 screenplays he has written have been produced, including the Love Undercover series, Funeral March, and Diva, Ah Hey. In 2018, Chan’s directorial debut Men on the Dragon received 11 nominations at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards, included Best Director and Best Screenplay. Chan has been a lecturer in Screenwriting and Creative Development at the HKAPA. He has also hosted a number of TV programmes and written columns in the local press. Chan has throughout the years served as chairman of the HKADC’s Film and Media Arts Group, on the Panel of Examiners of the Hong Kong Film Development Fund, as chairman of the HKAPA Alumni Association and as a committee member by invitation of the Hong Kong Screenwriters’ Guild.

Lyricist – Chris Shum

Chris Shum is a celebrated lyricist with work spanning musicals, plays, movies, television dramas and pop music. In 2006, he won Best Original Film Song at the 43rd Golden Horse Awards and a prize at the 2006 CASH Golden Sail Music Awards with the song “Perhaps Love”. He also won Best Original Film Song in 2013 at the 32rd Hong Kong Film Award for the theme song of The Last Tycoon. The Legend of Zhang Baoza earned him a prize at the 2011 CASH Golden Sail Music Awards. He has also won the Best Original Music Award four times at the Hong Kong Drama Awards. In 2018, Shum wrote the script and lyrics for Pica Pica Choose, a collaborative production by Mr Wing Theatre Company (Taiwan) and Yat Po Singers. Other works include the script and lyrics for Yat Po Singers’ This Victoria Has No Secrets and Hong Kong Repertory Theatre’s La Cage aux Folles. He also wrote the Cantonese lyrics for the Disney animated films The Lion King (2019) and Frozen 2 (2019), as well as lyrics for the soundtrack of Dante Lam’s film The Rescue (2021). Shum has authored several books on lyric-writing and theatre.

Director – Eugene Ma

Eugene Ma is a Hong Kongraised, New York-based Drama Desk-nominated multidisciplinary theater-maker and the co-artistic director of the newly formed International (minor feelings) Trading Company. Ma’s recent directing credits include Lisa Clair’s The Making of King Kong (Target Margin); Cherry Lou Sy’s Anima Animus (Public Theater); Suzen-Lori Parks’s In the Blood (Columbia University) and Paula Vogel’s The Baltimore Waltz (Daedalus@ Oregon Shakespeare Festival), among others. He was a resident director at the Flea Theater (New York). A proud AEA union member, Ma was an acting company member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and has performed across the United States at Theater for a New Audience (New York) as well as Berkeley Repertory, Seattle Repertory, Yale Repertory Theaters and more. He received his B.F.A. in Drama (Directing Concentration) from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He is a recent faculty member of Columbia University’s Graduate Acting Programme, Yale School of Drama and Harvard University’s Theater, Dance & Media, and currently the Artist-in-Residence at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

Terry Tsang was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer award at the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2019. His latest creation Mo Ngaan Tai was restaged at two arts festivals in Hong Kong shortly after its premiere in 2019, and was later invited to festivals in Italy and Taiwan. Previously, Tsang studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance, and was a full-time dancer in the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) from 2013 to 2019. He toured with the company to various countries and regions, including Norway, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Australia, Japan, Korea, Mainland China and Taiwan. He is also an active practitioner in local contemporary dance scene. Terry Tsang also specialises in dance photography with his establishment of Labora-Terry Arts, exploring the possibilities and relationships of the human body.

凌文龍 2008 年畢業於香港演藝 學院戲劇學院,獲頒藝術學士 (榮 譽)學 位, 主 修 表 演 。 他 於 2008 至 2018 年間成為香港話 劇團的全職演員,至今演出近 五十齣舞台劇,作品包括《遍 地芳菲》、《脫皮爸爸》、《都是 龍袍惹的禍》、《頂頭鎚》、《最 後作孽》、《情敵勸退師》等 。

他 2016 年憑《最後作孽》提名 第 25 屆香港舞台劇獎最佳男主 角(喜 劇 / 鬧 劇);2020 年 憑 《親 親 麗 南》再 獲 提 名 第 29 屆 香港舞台劇獎最佳男配角(喜 劇 / 鬧 劇)。2018 年 起, 凌 文 龍開始參演電影演出,憑《黃 金花》獲第 20 屆上海國際電影 節亞洲新人獎最佳男主角獎提 名、 第 12 屆 亞 洲 電 影 大 獎 最 佳新演員獎提名,以及第 37 屆 香港電影金像獎最佳男主角提 名,並獲最佳新演員獎 。

Ling Man-lung is a Hong Kong actor and graduate of the HKAPA, having majored in acting. He was an actor with the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre from 2008 through 2018. He has now appeared in nearly 50 stage productions, including Boundless Movement, Shed Skin Papa, The Emperor, His Mom, a Eunuch and a Man, Field of Dreams and The Sin Family, among others. He was awarded Best Actor (Comedy/Farce) at the 25th Hong Kong Drama Awards in 2016 for The Sin Family, and Best Supporting Actor (Comedy/ Farce) at the 29th Hong Kong Drama Awards for The Beauty Queen of Leenane in 2020. His first film role in Tomorrow Is Another Day in 2017 earned him a nomination for Best Actor in the Asian New Talent Awards at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival, Best Newcomer at the 12th Asian Film Awards, and Best Actor at the 37th Hong Kong Film Awards, at which he also received the Best New Performer award.

Terence Leung is a graduate of the University of Southern California and he has appeared in several theatre productions. His recent works include Playwrights Foundation’s Final Boarding Call (a staged reading) with Theatre Space’s Invisible X, Uragiri Gomen! and Hong Kong 3 Arts Musical Institute’s White Collar Principle. Leung is a bel canto-trained singer and performs classical music in the vocal group, Signo. In his free time, Terrence Leung has written and filmed short stories about family and care for diabetic patients.

Ng Siu-hin is a Hong Kong actor. He graduated from the HKAPA in 2016, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama. During his studies, he began his career with Adam Wong’s She Remembers, He Forgets. After graduating, he started acting in cinema, television and the theatre. His recent works include the films In Your Dreams, Napping Kid, Leaving Virginia; the TV dramas Stained, Afterlife Firm and Who Sells Bricks in Hong Kong. His first theatre experience was HKAPA’s graduation works A Streetcar Named Desire and Twelfth Night in 2016; other performances include Trinity Theatre’s The Rose of the Name in 2017, Windmill Grass Theatre’s production of The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer in 2019.

陳 熙 鏞 是 2018 年 畢 業 於 香 港 演 藝 學 院 戲 劇 學 院, 主 修 表 演,在學期間兩度獲得傑出演 員獎,並憑《火臉》獲香港小 劇場獎最佳男主角提名 。他近 年專注身體研究,曾參與史蒂 芬 .王「心之技藝」課程,並 前往丹麥歐丁劇場交流 。 他現時跟從張國穎學習聲樂, 近來熱衷於研究藝術治療、法 國戲劇理論家亞陶的學說、作 曲以及爵士樂 。

Cast Profiles

Andrew Chan graduated from the HKAPA in 2017-2018, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama, majoring in acting. During his studies at the HKAPA, he was twice awarded Outstanding Actor and nominated as Best Actor for the Hong Kong Theatre Libre’s Fireface. In recent years, he has focused on physical theatre and joined Stephen Wangh’s “An Acrobat of Heart” course, also took part with an exchange at Odin Teatret in Denmark. Andrew is currently a vocal student of Margaret Cheung. He is a fan of art therapy, the theory of Antonin Artaud, composing and jazz.

陳湛文 2012 年於香港演藝學院 戲劇學院畢業,主修表演 。他 畢業後活躍於香港舞台劇界, 曾參演多個本地專業劇團之創 作 及 演 出 。 他 2017 年 憑《少 年十五二十時》獲得第 26 屆香 港舞台劇獎最佳男配角;2018 年主演由陳果導演執導的電影 《三夫》,獲第 13 屆亞洲電影大 獎最佳新演員及第 38 屆香港電 影金像獎最佳新演員提名 。除 演出外,其自編自導的多元化 劇場《蘭陵王 .高長恭》曾獲 邀請參加第 9屆香港藝穗民化 節 。近期演出包括音樂劇《利 瑪 竇》, 以 及 馮 志 強 導 演 執 導 電影《失衡兇間:唐樓》與陳 果導演執導電影《漁光曲》。

Sammy Chien graduated from the HKAPA in 2008, majoring in vocal studies. He is also a graduate of the Jockey Club Opera Hong Kong Young Artist Development Programme. Chien won first prize in the Operatic Aria competition of the Hong Kong Youth Singing Festival in 2006. He is currently the conductor for Music Clover Choir. Sofei Au graduated from the HKAPA in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in drama, majoring in acting. During her studies, her work included The Taming of the Shrew, Beyond the Horizon, The School for Scandal. She twice won HKAPA’s Outstanding Actor and won several scholarships recognising her stage acting.

Her recent works include Chung Ying Theatre’s Go Go Ghost, Fly Me to the Moon, The Government Inspector, The Big Big Day; the HKAF’s Doctrine of Happiness; Theatre Horizon’s The Lu-Tings, Century-Old Dreams of a Fishing Harbour and the Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies’s Funny Money, among others.
