Whilst there have been real improvements in the death rates of children, improvements in maternal healthcare is however far too slow to achieve the targeted three quarters by 2015. Paradoxically, the world knows what it can do about this. Given that the clinical care and treatment of pregnant women are so well understood, the social factors are the most significant and intractable barrier to improvement.

Learnings from the Kaiser Permanente Model April 6-9, 2014 Oakland, California

Kaiser Permanente International's educational programs attract participants from nearly 50 countries on six continents. These programs aim to bring the knowledge of Kaiser Permanente one of the largest and most successful organized health care delivery systems in the world to governments, health plans, and other international institutions that are striving to improve their health care systems. This program agenda covers Kaiser Permanente's integrated delivery system and health information technology, clinician leadership, patients as partners, innovation, comparative effectiveness, the social determinants of health, and the future of health care delivery.
