SPRING ISSUE OF HOBURNE LIFE.

Welcome back to Hoburne, and I hope like us, you are looking forward to a fantastic 2024 season. It certainly feels like it’s been a long, wet and dark winter, but change is in the air, and that glorious spring sunshine is finally here.

This is our first issue of the owner’s magazine for 2024, and there is plenty to update you on what’s been happening on the park over winter and what’s to come later this year. This winter has been extremely wet, and our grounds team has been working tremendously hard in all conditions to keep on top of the park, which hasn’t been an easy task. Despite that, longer days are coming, trees are blossoming, and Easter eggs are in the shops! This magazine is very much for our owners, and we want to hear from you. If you have something you wish to share with the magazine, then let us know. Grab a coffee and enjoy reading.

OWNER LISTENING SESSIONS

The next listening session will take place on 13th April

Sandra Mueller, Director of Operations, Greg Nolan, General Manager and Rachel McCrirrick, Operations Manager will be available for small groups of owners to join them to talk about whatever is important to you. We will be listening intently to your feedback and following the session a summary of the topics discussed along with responses will be shared with all owners.

King prawn linguine with cherry tomatoes, broad beans and peas, finished with salsa verde and Winchester cheese.

This delicious recipe is featured on our new Spring menu. It was created by Milen, our head chef at Cotswolds and is a light pasta dish full of spring flavours.

The pasta recipe makes 2 portions. The salsa verde will make 10 portions, it freezes well, so you can keep the leftovers to use again within 2 months. It makes an excellent dip for nacho chips!

Hobr Coswol m mmr

1. How long have you worked for Hoburne?

a. I’ve been at Hoburne Cotswold for nearly 4 years, but overall I’ve worked at Hoburne for a combined 17 years. I started out at Hoburne Naish becoming the F&B Manager before moving to Hoburne central support office. I returned to Naish as an Operations Manager before leaving to join a new start up, Holiday Park group, as their Group Operations Manager. After keeping in contact with many friends and ex-colleagues within Hoburne, I was approached with the opportunity to return as the General Manager of Hoburne Cotswold during the first COVID-19 lockdown and haven’t looked back.

2. What has been your biggest achievement since working at Hoburne?

a. Creating a stable team which many owners informed me they hadn’t had on park for a long time. This had led to things such as moving the park’s grade from a 4-star to a 5-star holiday park for the first time, achieving recognition from both the Green Tourism & David Bellamy award schemes for our conservation and energy saving work on park. We’ve also managed to build a more stable relationship with our owners by providing more consistency.

3. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

a. I travelled a lot in my early twenties, mainly around Europe and once managed to get on a private tour of the Colosseum in Rome with none other than legendary booking promoter Don King and his entourage!

4. When you’re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?

a. I mainly spend my time with my family. I’ve been married for 11 years and have 3 daughters (19,18 & 4) and a 10-week-old son. Personally, I spend my time watching as much local football as I can. I’m a Sheffield Wednesday supporter at heart (but I general keep that quiet). I also play 8-ball pool to a decent level, although I don’t play as much as I used to.

5. Who is your favourite Sammy Squad character?

a. Larry the lobster, hands down the best character. He’s always been my favourite.

Hobr Coswol omowr

1. How long have you been a Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. This is our third holiday home on the park. We bought our latest one in May 2022.

2. Why did you pick Hoburne Cotswold?

a. The location is perfect for us, as it’s only an hour and a half from where we live in Warwickshire. We went for a tour around the park to see if any areas looked good for us. We absolutely loved the lakeside location and there was a second-hand van for sale, which was just right for us, so we went for it! The park is smart, clean and tidy and the whole sale process was smooth and stress free.

3. What’s your favourite thing to do whilst staying at your holiday home?

a. For us, it’s all about kicking back, relaxing and spending time together. It’s great to get away from day-to-day life and we find the whole site relaxing. We don’t use the facilities much, instead we prefer to go out and take trips in the local area. Cirencester is great to take in the history and enjoy the markets and shopping. Lower Moor Farm which is Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and has a lovely cafe overlooking the lake and The National Arboretum at Westonbirt are favourites of ours too but are a bit further away.

4. What do you love most about being a holiday homeowner?

a. The Hoburne team are so helpful, and we have found that nothing is too much trouble. Everything happens quickly and without a fuss, it’s brilliant. Our park neighbours are great too, if we ever need any help with anything we’ll just ask any of them and they are always very happy to help. Mike and Sue were so lovely when we moved in, they came out and helped us move all our things in, we were very grateful. It feels like a real community.

5. What top tip would you give to a new Hoburne holiday homeowner?

a. Don’t be afraid to ask anyone if you need anything, everyone is so friendly and helpful. Make sure you make a visit to the Organic Farm Shop at Abbey Home Farm, Burford Road, just outside Cirencester, as it’s brilliant.
