PERRY DOGWOOD FESTIVAL PLANS UNDERWAY FOR 25TH PERRY DOGWOOD FESTIVAL, APRIL 13TH - 14TH The Perry Area Chamber of Commerce held a press conference Tuesday morning to unveil a flurry of plans for the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the Dogwood Festival scheduled for April 13th and 14th. Details included a Dogwood Tree Planting Project, the addition of a DockDog Competition during the two day Arts and Crafts Show in Downtown Perry, a Hot Air Balloon Rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds, and ten sanctioned events being produced during the two day festival. Chamber officials also unveiled the Official Art for the 25th Annual Dogwood Festival as well as a new logo and website design. 2012 Perry Chamber Chairman Rob Brooks opened the gathering with information regarding the Dogwood Tree Planting project stating “An anniversary festival is the perfect time to reflect on the history of the event and also provide ways to strengthen the future. This belief is what led the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce to partner with private individuals who are invested in the community and the City of Perry to collaborate in the planting of 25 Cherokee Princess Dogwood Trees in key points around Downtown Perry.” The trees were planted in Rotary Park, in front of the entrance into Downtown Perry on General Courtney Hodges Blvd, and surrounding the newly renovated Perry Arts Center. Chairman Brooks thanked the individuals who personally donated to the project including State Senator Ross Tolleson, State Representative Larry O’Neal, State Representative Robert Dickey, State Representative Buddy Hardin, Former State Representative Larry Walker, and Perry resident David Walker. He stated “Without these individuals’ personal investment and the City of Perry providing the planting and ongoing maintenance this project would not have been possible.” Other items covered included the unveiling of the 25th Anniversary
Dogwood Festival Official Art. Festival Co-Founder Kathy O’Neal introduced Perry resident Gloria Ragland who presented her commissioned piece to the Perry Chamber of Commerce. The artwork will be used in a variety of ways including on festival t-shirts and art prints which will be sold during the April events. Rob Brooks announced the expansion of what has traditionally been a two day Arts and Crafts event with the addition of a DockDog Competition which will be located on Main Street April 13th and 14th during the festival and free to visitors. Community Partners OdoBan and PetsRule were present to give details concerning the addition which included an explanation of the layout and points system an official DockDog Competition requires. Since the Dogwood Festival is now an Official Preliminary Competition, dogs from across the Nation will compete at the Perry event vying to win the regional title so they can move on to the National DockDog Competition in Las Vegas in the fall. Chairman Brooks mentioned “This new component of the Dogwood Festival will not only serve as a new attraction for festival goers, but will also create an economic impact for the City of Perry as competition teams arrive, eat in local restaurants, patron local businesses and spend the night in local hotels. We estimate over 300 room nights based on around 100 competition teams being in Perry for three days.” The downtown component of the Dogwood Festival is not the only part of the programming expansion. 2013 Perry Area Chamber of Commerce Chair Beth McLaughlin made an announcement that excited the crowd. She stated “The Dogwood Festival presents a thrilling new element to its lineup for 2013 with the addition of a Hot Air Balloon Rally.” McLaughlin further explained the event, “The Hot Air Balloon Rally is scheduled for April 13th beginning at 4pm and fea-
tures 15 Hot Air Balloons providing tethered rides and an evening glow weather permitting, a kid’s zone with exciting games and activities, live music throughout the event, and food vendors.” Although food vendors will be at the event guests will be encouraged to bring picnics and lawn chairs to spread out and enjoy the afternoon with family and friends. McLaughlin went on to announce the sanctioned events associated with the 2013 Dogwood festival and gave definition to what an Official Dogwood Festival Sanctioned Event is, “These are events which are produced by community organizations during the Dogwood Festival. These events become a part of the festival umbrella and are presented as Official Events taking place during the April 13th and 14th.” She went on to list the ten sanctioned events which include the Dogwood Pageants presented by the Perry High School Cheerleaders on March 9th, Art in the Armory presented by the Perry Arts Center Advisory Board on April 12th through14th, 25th Annual Dogwood Festival Official Kick-Off Party presented by the New Perry Hotel on April 12th, Dogwood Festival 5k and 1 mile health walk presented by Elite Sport and Spine on April 13th , Festival Flapjack Fundraiser presented by the Kiwanis Club of Perry on April 13th, Charity Bass Tournament and Raffle presented by the Perry Rotary Club on April 13th, Your Dogwood Play at Rozar presented by the Friends of the Perry Animal Shelter on April 14th, the Dogwood Doggy Costume Contest presented by the PET Plantation Funeral Home and Canine Clubhouse on April 14th, and the 1st Annual Kids Fishing Derby presented by the Go Fish Education Center on April 14th. 3.08 GRANT’S LOUNGE 42ND ANNIVERSARY PARTY Grant’s Lounge, the “Original Home of Southern Rock,” will host a grand celebrationin honor of the historic nightclub’s 42nd anniversary on downtown Macon’s Poplar Street, headlined by the reunited Southern Rock band Birnam Wood. Local favorite Back City Woods will close the show. The festivities will begin in the paved courtyard behind Grant’s Lounge with a soul food buffet catered by Good to Go. Birnam Wood began playing in Macon in 1968. Originally from Florida, they came to Macon hoping to be heard and signed by a major label, but had consistent issues because of their unique sound. The band did record at the world renowned Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, AL, before deciding that it was time to tour and move ahead without the backing of a major label. They amassed a strong following in their time playing at Grant’s Lounge in Macon and the Georgia/Florida area and have appropriately chosen Grant’s as the venue for a reunion to celebrate their 45th anniversary. $10 per person.

Tom Waits Chicago...1979
IN HIS OWN WORDS During his 25 years in Chicago, Kirk West photographed legendary blues, country and rock ‘n’ roll musicians. His intimate photographs of candid moments have rarely been seen by the everyday music fan. After retiring in 2010 as Allman Brothers Band touring manager, West finally took the time to painstakingly sort through everything he shot from 1968 through the early 1990s. His photos are on display at Macon Arts Alliance thru March, with a gallery talk on March 22 that is free and open to the public.
“
I got my first camera at 10 so i was actually just shooting my life along the way.....first i shot model cars at age 10-14...then i shot dragsters and hot rods as i got older and started to drive and build cars...then when music became a large part of my life i started to point my 35mm camera at musicians....i couldnt play any thing but my vision turned out to be pretty good..... the first time i shot music was in chicago in 1968 and thru out the late 60's and very early 70's it was still only a 'hobby"....i was roamin the country livin the hippie life and shootin the world along the way. i suppose the first rock n roll show i shot seriously was in the fall of '68 and was frank zappa & the mothers of invention. i would say that the seriousness required to make it a career came into play in about '76-77. when i returned to chicago in 77 i got deeply involved in makin a go of it as a business. did that for 15 years until the job with the allman brothers consumed alllll my time. then when i retired from the abb job in 2010 i revived the foto thing .....starting with mining the past first then i started lookin around to see what catches my eye....(like how i was able to use 3 tenses in a single sentence?) Hmmm, my most memorable shoot? Thats hard to say, but spending the weekend at george jones' home in east texas in 1984 would be hard to top. johnny & june cash along with george and his wife were doing a weekend of concerts at george's concert venue on his ranch near the louisiana state line. the chicago tribune sent a writer and i down to do a cover story on johnny so we got to stay at the guest house and i had total run of the place for 3 days...shot johnny, june, george and all the concerts as well......did
formal portraits of them all plus hangin with george was a total hoot...shot him in every room of the house...the best stuff was with george rollin around on his king sized bed....amazing weekend. but also 2 days with the police all over chicago or several months with tom waits while he was livin in chicago doin a play at the steppanwolf theatre company and oh, then there was the 30 years shootin the allman brothers band....album covers, dvd projects, promo sessions...years and years of great stuff there that will some day soon be a whole project of its own... Kirsten & I are very into travelin’ these days (what a surprise coming from a guy that traveled for a living for 35 years!!)....we have been to Eastern Europe three times in the past couple years and really love that area of the world...i shoot all day everyday and we are lovin it...it also inspired me to look at the american south differently than i have while living down here.....so i am currently workin on a project of shootin the deep south before it totally disappears to the onslaught of walmarts and dollar general stores that are completely killin the mom n pop country stores and small towns...not a unique quest but something that i really enjoy....2011 i spent a month drivin the back roads of mississippi shootin old blues sites and birth places and tombstones....from memphis to new orleans...amazing trip and amazing fotos.... Also, I have plans for a coffee table foto book or two....a couple more gallery shows...one in Philadelphia and one in New York City. I signed a contract with getty images this year and they are reppin me thru out the known world ... so "retirement" is goin pretty well....

you can just pick up and try out. These guys just have no egos what so ever. They will be happy to help you learn technique. Tradebowgeorgia.com is a great resource. They will have information on these shoots all over Georgia. They also give out awards to new hunters. They are called First Blood awards. My son, Luke will be getting an award this year for his first bear with a recurve, and his first white tail with traditional gear.
PRIMITIVE SPORT Big game hunting with a stick bow legend, Jerry Russell
In the world of primitive bow hunting, Jerry Russell is a legend. If it flies, swims, walks or crawls, chances are Jerry could take it down with his bow. And just to be clear, he hunts with a primitive bow, not a compound bow. For 37 years, Jerry has been taking animals with the real stick and string. He’s taken 19 species of animals all over North America and Africa and now offers guided hunts for deer, turkey and hog in the central and north Georgia regions as well as trophy Black Bear hunts in Canada, Snow Goose and Duck hunts in Missouri and big duck hunts in Northwest Florida. They also offer one of the most fun bowfishing trips on the planet along the Ocmulgee River.
Jerry was kind enough to sit down with me and tell us a lit-
tle about how he got into traditional Bow Hunting. How long have you been hunting? Since I could walk. How did you get into hunting? Well I lost my father when I was twelve, so it wasn’t that he took me hunting everywhere. He did take me, but I don’t really remember much of it. So to be honest I’m really not sure, why I got into hunting, but I have always had a love for it. Did you grow up on land where hunting was just the thing to do? I grew up in a suburban environment, but I always found a way to hunt. I picked up a bow when I was very young. I haven’t shot big game with a firearm in over 25 years. And I went straight to a primitive bow, I never shot a compound. I was just constantly outside when I was young. And once I killed that very unlucky whitetail with my bow I was hooked. That’s really impressive for a kid. I mean it’s hard enough to kill a deer with a gun, especially a trophy deer, or anything for that matter. But having a stick bow in your hand has to decrease the chances of actually taking an animal exponentially, even when you see one. That’s true, but that’s also the thing a lot of people don’t understand about someone and a stick bow. It’s the difficulty that makes it fun. I have no problem with whatever someone wants to shoot. If it’s legal, and they are hav-
ing fun, and they are smiling at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. A stick bow has just always been my thing. I like that it’s much harder. What’s the hardest thing about using a stick bow? I think most people that get into stick bow hunting get discouraged by it because it is much more difficult than a compound bow. You can pick up a compound bow and become proficient with it, sit it down for a year, and pick it back up and still be pretty good with it. You can’t do that with a stick bow. It’s all muscle memory, and pure instinct. That’s not something that you just have. It requires constant practice to be confident, and if you don’t have that confidence, then you shouldn’t hunt with it. I have a longbow, but I have found it challenging to find a resource where I could learn how to shoot it properly. What are some resources in Georgia for someone getting into the Stick bow? The stick bow community is a really cool community. Traditional Bow Hunters of Georgia, North Georgia Traditional Bow Hunters, and other organizations like them have Traditional bow shoots where people can come and learn. And the people there are some of the most open and friendly people that I’ve ever met. You can go to these shoots as a beginner and feel right at home. There will be 50 bows on a rack that
You’ve hunted all over the US, Africa, and Canada. What do you think is the most difficult animal you have ever taken? The Prairie Mule Deer. It took me a long time to take it but that Prairie Mule deer; its senses are so in tune to its environment, it makes a whitetail look goofy. And you are in a short grass prairie so there is no place to hide.
What’s been your most memorable hunting experience? A caribou hunt I did in Alaska in 2006 I was hunting Kodiak Island. The worst weather I’d ever encountered in my life. Wind over 100 miles an hour. Destroyed our camp. We woke up in the middle of the night with tornados going across the bay. We survived that night and woke up the next day to clear weather. I had trialed a huge bull, the biggest I’ve ever seen. He always had a big group so I couldn’t approach him. I was standing on a ridge that next day and I saw one even bigger. I followed him for a very long time, and finally I got into a position where I could put a stalk on him. Had to shoot my recurve over a river and I shot him in his bed. I knew this was a huge bull. I have really cared about Pope and Young Score but I knew this bull was huge. . I couldn’t get the rack out of there because if I cut it, Pope and Young would disqualify it. So I left it. A year later a buddy of mine hiked up to where we were and scored it, He scored 402. It ended up being #8 overall in the world. Pope and Young ended up shipping it back for us. That was just a crazy experience. Very dangerous and very rewarding.
When did you decide you wanted to guide full time? I had been offered guiding jobs throughout the years, but I just couldn’t do it When I retired from the fire department after 30 years, I decided that’s what I wanted to do, and I’ve been doing it ever since, and I’ve loved every minute of it.
What is your pricing like? Hog and Deer are around $275 bucks. It all depends on the species of animal you want to hunt. Our Canadian Bear Hunts are $2650 but that includes everything. If you can get to Montreal, we take care of the rest, and that’s an incredible deal. I truly love hunting, so to be able to do this for a living is a gift for me, and I like to make our hunts affordable for anyone. And I realize that it’s a lot more fun for a dad when he can afford to take his son hunting with him. Hunts for kids are half off. THE SCENE Q&A with actress Catherine Bach, Craze Hunter, Out and About with Sean Pritchard, Exclusive Bar & Music Schedule, Go Hear
THE INTERVIEW
DAISY DUKE Acress Catherine Bach talks about her days in Hazzard County, her best friend Bo Duke and getting the part playing the sexiest southern gal on ‘70s tv. I'm certain that I would be a different person if I hadn't grown up with the Duke boys in my life. Even as a kid, it made me proud that two outlaws from Hazzard County could take time out of their life every week to be heroic. I constantly listened to Waylon Jennings at six years old because of them. I got more than one burn on my ass from trying to slide across the hood of my mother's Oldsmobile. I probably rocked a rebel flag or two, because it looked cool. And I had the requisite Daisy poster hanging just so, in my room. So this week, when The Dukes of Hazzard Reunion promoter, Chris Jennings, told me that I'd be interviewing one of the cast members, it made me smile. I'd interviewed Cooter when he was a congressman, and had an awesome time. When Catherine Bach called me out of the blue, I had no idea who it was, until she told me it was Daisy. I'm pretty sure I got red in the face. BY BRAD EVANS
I was seriously pumped when I saw all of you were coming to Byron the first weekend of March. I’m 37 years old, so I grew up watching you guys. I have to tell you though, I’ve been interviewing all kinds of people; politicians, movie stars, rock stars, etc for years, and when I called Chris to ask for an interview with a cast member, I just sort of expected him to say I could interview Cooter, or Luke, which was fine. I’ve got to tell you though, when he told me Daisy would be calling me, I got more than a little nervous. What do fans usually say to you when they meet you today? Awww. It’s really interesting. It depends on what part of the country they come from. The last really interesting appearance I had was Baton Rouge. We had a pretty big crowd and this one fellow told me he had waited in line for six hours to get to meet me. He said he’d been pondering on what he was going to say to me. And he decided to recite me his favorite bible verse. I thought that was so sweet. Where do you live now? Did you just ask ‘What do I look like now?” (laughs) Of course not! 14 MARCH 2013
Ha! I’m in LA. I’ve been here 30 years. I work from home. I have a big office in my house, and today is Interview Day! What have you been up to? We were so happy to see you coming to Georgia. I haven’t seen a Hazzard Reunion in a while. Yeah, I can’t do them as much as I like to. I only do about one a year. I have two girls, so I need to be here for them as much as I can. I also do this show on CBS called The Young and The Restless so I need to be there as well. If I’m going to be gone, I have to let them know. But I really love getting together with everyone.
What Daisy looks like now... In 2012 she joined the cast of Young & the Restlesss.
How did you first get the job as Daisy? It was so crazy. Back in the late ‘70s I was considered very exotic, but I was a good actress. The agency that I had been with, they were like, look, we’re never going to make any money with you, you should go back to South Dakota and marry a cowboy. Or go back to school and be a teacher. You are never going to be anyone we make money off of because you look too exotic. But I didn’t leave LA. I hung around, and did a few things, and I ended up writing a one-act play. I wasn’t really going out on interviews for parts anymore. But I wrote this play about a young actress and what she’s going to do if she doesn’t make it by her 25th birthday. At that time, to me 25 seemed really old. It’s her 25th birthday and she’s got one last horrible party with one last terrible producer, who never really wanted to do anything but mess around with her, and so now she‘s gonna kill herself. But instead she decided to tell her life story to the LA Times, so that other actresses won’t be taken advantage of. So I tell the story of this actress. Well everybody loved it. I got a writing deal at ABC from it. It was great. I wrote movies of the week. So now I’ve got a writing deal. The girl who directed the play ended up with a directing job. So she and I were celebrating in Beverly Hills. I don’t think I’d ever been there before. After lunch I asked her if she wanted to walk around. At the time I had been offered an interview for the part of Daisy Duke, and I wasn’t really excited about it. I told my friend that I didn’t think I was gonna go. They had been trying to cast it for the past year. She told me I HAD to go. I was like, “I’m way too exotic. They want this girl to look like Dolly Parton.” She said, “Who cares if you get the part, it’s an experience, you never know who you are going to meet on the way in or the way out.” So I jumped up from lunch and I went to the interview. And John Schneider (Bo Duke) is sitting there in the lobby. I say hi, and I meet Guy Waldron, the creator. It just so happened that there was a terrible case of the flu that year. So all the big bosses weren’t there. Guy saw me and had me come on in. I spent two hours there; I had a great time with Guy and John. They sent me straight to network, since everyone was sick I didn’t have to go through the hierarchy. Then they asked if I could drive John home. He didn’t have a car, or couldn’t drive or something. So we drove around and I showed him Beverly Hills. We talked for 2 or 3 hours, and just had the best time. A few days later, after working with Guy and John, I went in for another reading, and everyone stood up and clapped. At that point, I didn’t care if I got the job or not. It just felt great. It was a good experience and I was happy about that. Two weeks later, I got on a plane and headed to Georgia. They got me a room at a Holiday Inn. I called my old agency, because they would never return my calls. I left a message that I got this part and that they wouldn’t let me sign a deal without representation. They wouldn’t return my call. So I remembered this guy I used to body surf with that was a lawyer and had him negotiate my deal.
Tell me about your first day on the set? I was freaked out. It was all guys and me, this one little girl. The men on that show, they remember every nuance. It was a coming of age for so many of them. It was all about who could man up. I sort of kept my distance from all that. I just had a blast. But the first few days I was just freaked out. I didn’t feel breezy and easy. I felt out of my element. I had never done anything that big. I was sitting in the make up chair with my little cowboy make up artist, and he got the feeling I was nervous I guess. He asked me to look up, and he kind of held his cowboy hat above me. He told me to look up into his cowboy hat so he could get make up under my eyes. There is a Polaroid in his hat. It’s a photo of Jimmy Best (Roscoe P Coltrane.) And as I look closer, he’s only wearing his holster, and his tube socks and his cowboy boots! I laughed so hard, and it really just broke the ice. It was hilarious. I couldn’t believe he did it. So I had to pass the picture around. I must have showed all 150 people on the set by the time Jimmy got there. When he comes walking up to do his scene, everyone just bowed down on the ground.
While she was on the Dukes of Hazzard, her legs were insured for $1,000,000.
Did you have any idea of how large the show would become? Me? The out of work ethnic actress? No I didn’t know. But I really did like the character. I was having fun, and I really felt like I was doing a good job. Everything felt right. I’ve read a lot about girls sort of hanging around the set waiting for John and Tom? Did you have a lot of guys sort of following you around during that time? No. The producer used to carry a gun and he hardly let me out of his sight. I basically had 150 big brothers, protecting me with all the cast and crew. Who was your favorite person in Hazard County? That is so hard to say. To this day John Schneider is my brother. I am so close to him. I actually get mad at him if I don’t hear from him in a while. We are that close. He loves my cooking. I was having a personal problem one time and I was in New York City and I was walking down the street crying. And I ran into someone, and

One of these days before I’m a hundred years old I’m going to build or fix up a cabin somewhere, even if it’s in an abandoned train yard. I got a lot of inspiration from Rock the Shack ($40). This 240-page celebration of the shanty takes a look at all sorts of away-from-it-all retreats, from cabins and cottages to simple shelters and farms. Like the structures themselves, the interiors of the various homes featured inside run the gamut from the most basic essentials to modern luxury, but all of them offer a look at what someone considered the perfect hideaway.

If you, like me, put hot sauce on everything but your morning coffee, then you should try DoubleKick Caffeinated Hot Sauce ($10). This flavorful condiment combines Asian and Southwestern chili sauces for a flavor all its own while packing the one-two punch of ginger and caffeine to get you going. With a rich taste that's both savory and sweet, it tastes great on nearly everything. It’s like a two for one deal on everything.
Pay homage to some of your favorite dudes in a totally historical way with Replaceface Prints ($12-$150). These clever works of art put the faces of some of modernity's most recognizable guys — Bill Murray, Steve Jobs, Chuck Norris, Ricky Gervais, and David Bowie among them — into historical paintings of various generals and conquerors. They offer fine art prints, , which vary in size from ,but they also offer them framed, as stretched canvases, as stationery cards, as throw pillows, and as cases and skins for the iPhone and iPod touch.
DAISY CONT. I looked up to say excuse me, and it was John!. I mean what are the chances? Ben Jones (Cooter) is family. His wife is like my soul sister. When my husband died, I really relied on them. They flew out here every single month to be with me. Ben called me every day. I love them so much I can almost cry thinking about them. Jimmy Best (Roscoe), we talk all the time. Denver Pyle (Uncle Jesse) and I used to go eat and shopping all the time together. He was fantastic. Sorrel Booke and I were really good friends, we corresponded all the time when I was in Africa working on a project with Robert Mitchum. But he never told me he had cancer. I did so many shows and appearances with everyone, and I just know and love them all. We see the General Lee from time to time, what became of Dixie? Dixie turned into a Wagoner for me. I picked up John from the airport one night, and people would actually just jump in the jeep with me. I had my own Dixie that wasn’t on the show, but I had to get rid of it. But I do have a General Lee. It’s being restored right now in North Carolina being overhauled by a professor and his class at the University of North Carolina. My husband bought it before he died, probably for himself but he said it was for me. What was your take on Vance and Cody? They were sweet boys. What can you say. What a tough act to follow, John and Tom. You just can’t do it. Honestly, John and Tom had an ax to grind. I asked them if they wanted me to go out with them. And they said no
because then we won’t have anyone to come home to. So I stayed. And they came back! What did you do in the first few years after Hazard was over? I did some plays. I thought about what I wanted to do in my life. I went to Europe. In ‘93 I did a series with Robert Mitchum I got married and had my daughters and I wanted to concentrate on that. All of a sudden I wanted to be home. My daughters are 14 and 17. I have had them doing plays and stuff since they were 4. One daughter is a great little filmmaker. She won an international film fest for high school kids all over the world. She’s really good. My little one is a cheerleader, and she likes pondering math problems. She is also a great writer. We’ll see what happens. Do you have any tips on making the perfect pair of jorts? You can buy them on my website! http://www.catherinebach.com/ Thanks Catherine, we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks. Oh I’m so looking forward to coming back to Georgia! Hug that baby! I can hear her in the background!

Tell us how you got into Music? David: The early days of MTV had a lot to do with my obsession with music. I ditched piano lessons at the age of 13 and picked up a guitar. Since then I've become a huge music fan. I love everything from country and blue grass to rock and R&B. I enjoy making music. I was hooked the first time I played a power cord on an electric guitar. Ken: Music has been in my life as far back as i can remember. My parents had tons of records to listen to. so i started listening and soon found myself with #2 pencil's in my hands and beating on empty coffee cans. Been drumming ever since. Who are your influences? Ken : Early on, Peter Buck of REM, played a huge part in what I listened to. Then I heard the Red Hot Chili Peppers cd "Mothers Milk" and it opened up another world. Then the early 90's gave me alternative rock. And so the process of listening to all styles of music began. I just take all i hear and play it the way it feels to me. David: I think early on i was influenced by guitarists like Slash and Randy Rhodes. Later, I really got into bands like 311 and Drivin N' Cryin. Bands with big sound and great lyrics have always influenced me. What does your music sound like? Far From Over's sound is a blend of modern rock and alternative styles. A lot of our original music is influenced by bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction. Other bands like Weezer and Jimmy Eat World had a part in shaping our sound also.
What's your best story on stage? There are so many that no one in particular comes to mind, but it's always fun to see the reaction on people's faces when they realize that they are listening to a two piece band. How about the craziest after party story? Due to certain litigation we are unable to divulge any details, but it involved a bunch of beer, a couple of four wheel drives, and a Waffle House. What's next for Far From Over? We're looking forward to a great summer playing shows here in Macon and throughout the Southeast. A new full length cd is in the works for later this year as well as new merchandise. Recently the band was ranked #2 on reverbnation.com's most popular rock bands in the middle georgia area. Being a part of the Exposed Music Festival in Marietta, along with support from the Harley Davidson Fight Cancer Rally in Atlanta, the band has become popular with a wide range of listeners.

n the months before their deaths, relatives say Mildred and Jewel Cleveland had struggled living in the same house with Mildred's grown son, Jason Howard. Jobless and socially withdrawn, Howard was a disturbed man who had been committed to a mental institution for schizophrenia following his arrest for robbing a bank. Although his mother thought that Howard could be rehabilitated and insisted that he live with them, relatives say her husband, Jewel, wasn't so sure. Police think that after killing and burying the Clevelands, Jason Howard continued to live in the house. He paid bills, cared for the family pets, and even took a trip to the family's vacation home. With the aid of cadaver dogs, Liberty County police found JASON HOWARD Arrested 4/13/2009 the bodies of Jewel and Mildred Cleveland wrapped in tarps and buried in a 4 Cts Felony Murder barn on June 15, 2004. An autopsy later confirmed that both had been shot in the head and that Mildred had been beaten first. In his own words from a November 1994 note, Howard explained: “Let it be known that I, Jason M. Howard, can be extremely paranoid, therefore as a fugitive I will not only be carrying firearms but explosives as well...I'm not dangerous until I am crossed or cornered, so stay away. Keep away and don't blame me for a dead tactical team.” For the next several years, Howard would live in the woods in Macon, in a camp he constructed out of camouflage tarps and tents and everything else he could find. He was featured on America’s Most Wanted during those years, though he would elude arrest until 2009, when Macon Police found him breaking into a rental car. Some months later, a friend of the 11th Hour, and a cross country runner, came across Howard’s camp in the woods. In it three journals were found. What follows is a page of one of these journals, the first in a series of pages that look inside the head of a suspected killer.
