CITY OF BRIDGE Urban fabric of histocial centre in Dordrecht
The value of the heritage buildings will be the starting point of the redesign process: restore the previous identity, responding to its historical events, and capturing the core values as the redesign concept. The building was used as an interior gathering space for almost one century and became part of the urban routing. In addition, the building is located in the prime area inside the historical city centre and surrounded by the typical urban fabric consists of canal&bridge. Therefore, I would like to extend the public characteristics and make the building an extension of the public space. To create a similarspatial experience inside the building, ‘bridge’ is used as the main spatial concept for the interior design.

Revitalising the obsolete. What happens to the traditional twentieth century commercial areas in major Dutch cities in an era that everyone is shopping online? The result is many physical stores, including my sitefamous Dutch retail company V&D, closed down and left many empty holes in Dutch city centres. These vacant buildings, which used to have close interactions with Dutch citizens’ urban life, are not accessible anymore and are gradually segregated from the vibrant urban life. They are urgently in need to transform to rescue the liveability.

CEILING - REVESED MOUNT Drop Ceiling at the Entrance Hall URBAN PALIMPSEST
In this project, I was the main designer and was involved in the process from concept design to construction.

Confronting the specific program requirements, our team intended to create a dynamic working atmosphere with abundant spatial experience. Therefore, the team adopted the concept of Reversed Mount on ceiling design and created an inverted pyramid as a prototype for a drop ceiling. Then, the celling prototype was mirrored, rotated within the modular system to create the different variations. Considering the requirement of fire resistance, wooden transfered aluminum plate, polycarbonate plate, and polyurethane became the main material for the project.
REVERSED MOUNT
Originally built as a warehouse in a Creative Industrial Park at the outskirts of Shanghai, the building was proposed to be an office with laboratory equipment. Our office was assigned to design the office area, around 2000m2, as a working and resting station for the experimenters. Containing three floors in total, the building was redesigned to have the ground floor as the main entrance hall with a mezzanine added, first and the second floor as the working area and a mezzanine space was also added above the second floor to function as a guest room.

INCLUSIVE CITY Atmosphere inside the Art Community
Located at the north-west corner of Roomtuintjes, east of Amsterdam, the site has interesting interactions with surroundings such as height difference and view sources. Also, the complex locates inside a racial mixed community with some social problems. Therefore, the challenges it brought like street noise, privacy problems and safety issues needs to be addressed. Based on the urban framework from group work, the design kept all the existing buildings and uses art, mainly performing, music and dancing, as a common language to respond to the mixing cultural background. A new corridor system as well as collective space that suits young people’s needs are proposed. The old building remain to be residential function while the space at the joint is changed to be collective use. The additional structure turned into interior balcony, which become the winter garden and create mirco climate. It also function as the main living space for each unit. The In general, the design aims to create an atmosphere that inspire culture exchange, art creation while all groups of people are welcomed to the community. The semester lasts for 20 weeks, including 10 weeks for group research and 10 weeks for individual architecture design.

Locating on an “island” of Suzhou within its grid of canals in Panmen, the site is called as the “last urban village in Suzhou”, which includes many aspects of the urban history of Suzhou uniquely superimposed on one another. There are numerous seniors living there who have experienced many of the changes that have occurred in this area. However, they have become somewhat isolated from the exterior world, without much communication with and connection.

MULTIPLE LAYERS OF SUZHOU Isolation between generations and regions
With abundant research on history and elderly's behavior as a foundation, functions such as health care centre, and primary layout was proposed. While as study loop proceeds, it is found that elderly's mental isolation is also urgently to be addressed in addition to physical isolation. Therefore, to be social sustainible, young generations should be introduced to the community as well, and to promote a more dynamic living pattern. In addition to a health care center as infrastructure, more multi-functional space with barrier system is proposed to accommodate intergenerational activities.Also, the design needs a more appealing gesture to respond to Suzhou culture. 15

When speaking of traditional architecture in Suzhou, courtyard is always regarded as one of the most important feature. The courtyard within domestic Suzhou housing functions as the main public space: introducing sunlight, ventilation, and accomodate vigorous community activity. Suzhou courtyard represent the tradiational living pattern in Suzhou. Therefore, this typology is potential to be inherited to modern housing design since it could bridge the past and the future.

The design responds to the 'relocational problem' happening at the outskirts of the city. Due to the urban spread, many rural villages are demolished to be built as new city, making thousands of residents leave their home. As a result, they are supposed to be relocated to other residental areas inside the city, namely our site. Locating in front of the Suzhou canal, the site represents a featured Suzhouness life pattern and consists of diversed courtyard housing. The design attempts to promote harmony community life between localness and relocated residents. In general, the project responds to the urban context on the form and space organization. In addition, the concept breaks the isolated 'Alley culture' and brings more public for a modern community. 20

Abundant culture background render the project become a place that recall historical memory under a high modern circumstance. The client plans to open a bookstore containing the function of book-selling, fashion display and food market. Considering the site's original function as a shipyard, the office attempts to transform the ship hull idea as the main concept. The language continues from underground to aboveground and become part of the landscape. In 4-month working time, I worked as an architectural assistant.

The proposal aims to explore the new typology of educational architecture in China, that is the circular campus. Our team, including two other architects and me, did the schematic design for this project. I was in charge of concept design, digital modeling and making presentation documents. The proposal aims to explore the new typology of educational architecture in China, that is the circular campus. Our team, including two other architects and me, did the schematic design for this project. I was in charge of concept design, digital modeling and making presentation documents.
