JOIN THE EPSILON KAPPA CHAPTER IN CELEBRATING THEIR FOUNDER"S DAY!!!
On November 26th, 2024, the Epsilon Kappa chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma at Hofstra University celebrated their Founder’s Day and 111 years of friendship, faith, love, sincerity, integrity and strength. Our sisterhood was founded by 10 visionary and progressive women at Hunter College in New York City who envisioned an inclusive sisterhood that accepts women of all backgrounds, faiths, beliefs and cultures. While our local Epsilon Kappa chapter was founded on April 1, 1989, sisters all over the globe nationally recognize and celebrate this momentous day and spread the message of Phi Sigma Sigma.
SEE WHAT OUR PRESIDENT, TAYLOR FLACK ORGANIZED TO CELEBRATE THIS SPECIAL DAY!
EPSILON KAPPA CHAPTER ARCHON TAYLOR FLACK
Our chapter president, Taylor Flack, organized a Founder Day’s celebration, during which we discussed the history of our non-sectarian sorority and our own personal chapter history. After reviewing our Phi Sigma Sigma history, sisters looked through photos and chapter memories from the past couple of years and reminisced how Phi Sigma Sigma brought us all together from all parts of the world. Taylor also organized a sisterhood activity called “We live for each other” were used to write “Which sisters inspire you”, “Sisters you want to get to know better”, “A sister which you admire” and “A sister who makes you laugh”.
“So, to my sisters here today, thank you for being part of this incredible journey. To those who will become part of this sisterhood in the future, know that you are joining something truly special.”
-Archon Taylor Flack
On a nationwide level, Phi Sigma Sigma created a movement throughout social media to connect sisters throughout all 115 collegiate chapters and 100 alumnae chapters and post our fondest memories of our individual and collective chapters. Our chapter actively engaged with the content as well as posted on our social media to commemorate that special day! The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which aims to raise money for college and school readiness, launched a campaign to engage sisters, alumni, and family to continue donating to our amazing philanthropy and the day brought enormous success for our philanthropic cause.
This year, from our Beta Nu class, Julia Christ and Alyssa Harper, were able to attend a Phi Sigma Sigma Nationals organized convention known as the Emerging Greek Program. The program was held at Rutgers University and connected new members of Phi Sigma Sigma chapters from all over the country. Sisters were able to learn about each other’s chapters, develop their leadership skills and create lifelong bonds with one another.
Alyssa Harper, our upcoming 2024-2025 Diversity and Equity chair described her time at Emerging Greek Leaders “once in a lifetime opportunity to meet other sorority sisters from the East to the West Coast” and “still talks to her roommate from the amazing experience”. Thus, another year to add to the wonderful history of Phi Sigma Sigma and to another year of worthwhile memories, new opportunities, philanthropy events and friendships.
ONCE, ALWAYS Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma
