ANNUAL REPORT

Welcome

to the 2006-07 Hofstra Athletics annual report, The People of the Pride. The report highlights the many accomplishments of this past academic year. The people that make up the Pride have contributed so much to our athletics program. They include student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, Pride Club members, corporate partners, and friends. We are extremely grateful for their support, enthusiasm, and generosity. The collective effort of these groups during this past year has led to the extraordinary accomplishments of our athletics program – five Colonial Athletic Association championships, seven teams in postseason play (NCAA, NIT, WNIT), All-American honors, national coaching awards, the opportunity to host NCAA championship contests and the completion of capital projects. In addition to achievements in athletic competition, we are devoted to the educational well-being of our studentathletes and are proud of their Jack Hayes speaks at the Director of Athletics Jack Hayes and Hofstra accomplishments. Nearly 270 dedication of the Frank President Stuart Rabinowitz with inductee Fran student-athletes earned a 3.0 Gorman Memorial Gateway at Kalafer at the 2007 Hofstra Athletics Hall of or better grade point average the Hofstra Soccer Stadium Fame Dinner in 2006, while 12 achieved a perfect 4.0. This past year was extremely successful and we remain committed to building the Hofstra Athletics program. We will continue to search for innovative ways to provide our student-athletes with an outstanding academic and athletic experience and we will represent Hofstra on the fields of play with a spirit and a sense of responsibility that makes everyone proud. As you read through this report, I hope you enjoy seeing the connection between the achievements of Hofstra Athletics and the many outstanding people that comprise our athletics program. This next year will be filled with many challenges and opportunities for the Hofstra Pride. We look forward to having you join us as we embark on another exciting journey. Sincerely,

VOLLEYBALL Elizabeth Curley ’07 Volleyball Centerville, MA

Elizabeth was a four-year starter on the volleyball team, and in 2006 became Hofstra’s first All-American in the sport. The 2006 CAA Player of the Year, Elizabeth finished her career ranked in the top 10 in three statistical categories. During her four-year career, the Pride was 75-42.

“Academically, Hofstra was perfect for me because I discovered what I wanted to do in the future. I was an exercise specialist major and will pursue a career in physical therapy. When I look back on my career at Hofstra, I have great memories. Winning the CAA championship in 2006 was a very exciting time and the NCAA Tournament was like nothing I had ever experienced.”Hofstra Athletics - (516) 463-6750 Athletic Development - (516) 463-5281 Ticket Office - (516) HOF-tixx www.hofstra.edu/athletics 32
