Ray and Norma Carter started making Ray’s Traditional Home Made Plum Puddings in 1950, to sell at their delicatessen, in Camberwell, using an old family recipe, handed down from Norma’s parents. The puddings proved to be so popular, that by 1960, they had sold the Delicatessen and concentrated solely, on manufacturing this wonderful product, from a purpose built factory, in their back yard, in Moonee Ponds. By 1970, they were forced to build a larger, commercial factory, at 270. Today, Ray’s son, Ross, daughter-in-law Marina and grandchildren, Duncan & Jessica are responsible for continuing the tradition of this great local, four generation, family company.
