“London to me is the most interesting city imaginable. It has so much of the history of the world.” “I used to hire a guide who worked for the house of commons to visit the most interesting exhibits.”
In the coming months, he believes there will be an uptick in nursing home lawsuits.
“We certainly know that nursing homes have very frail people in them and whether there was sufficient testing and safety measures necessary to protect those people will be a real question. Those cases haven’t really started yet, but I think you are going to see them soon.”

Our legal expert, Attorney P. J. Mitchell of Mitchell and West LLC discusses the Presumptive President-elect Priorities for the New Administration 2021
P.J. Mitchell
The constitutional underpinning of the United States Constitution harkens from the influence of the European enlightenment thinkers, John Locke and Thomas Hobbes. These underpinnings are premised on the “state of nature” wherein all people are naturally free and equal and have “natural rights” which include the right to “life, liberty, and property.” The social contract of the Enlightenment Period argued that people form governments to protect their natural rights, thereby giving up some freedoms to govern themselves through a social contract between the government and the people. However, Thomas Hobbes and Thomas Jefferson argued that there were limits to government power and also argued that the people had a right to break this contract if the government deprived the people of these rights.
In the modern era, the Presumptive Presidentelect, Joe Biden has stated he will be “the most progressive President in history.” In support of his proclamation, he has highlighted in recent days his priorities for his new administration which would include, among other things, cancelling student loan debt up to ten thousand dollars, student loan forgiveness for people making less than one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars, “free” college and money for bankrupt states.
At the time of the founding of the United States of America, democracy placed power in the people. As it is in modern times, in the late 1700’s, people fled other political systems that were authoritarian in nature. For example, the European model in England is what our forefathers and countrymen fled in the pursuit of freedom. These authoritarian and dictatorial governments held economic and governmental power over their people. Today, the concern for many Americans is the belief that we are seeing for the first time in this country’s history that America is going to take a gigantic step toward implementing a form of a European model.
Several scandinavian countries have implemented free tuition at public universities and free healthcare. With Biden’s stated proposals, the American pragmatists can’t help but wonder who’s going to pay for all of this? With the taxing authorities of the federal, state and local governments, the average working American pays more than fifty cents per dollar earned.

For a historical perspective, in 1913, the government’s right to impose an income tax was first enacted through the ratification of the Sixteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. This set the stage for the implementing a federal tax on all earned income. Since the implementation of the Sixteenth Amendment, governmental entities have implemented tax and spend policies at all government levels to finance desired social programs. In turn, the Sixteenth Amendment formed the foundation for the imposition of a powerful and robust federal government.
What is the cost benefit analysis of Biden’s new policy proposals? Will he keep his promise that there will be no new taxes on people making four hundred thousand dollars or less? A promise that looks to be shallow, especially with his latest proposal to tax all gun owners.
Presumptive President-elect Joe Biden has on several occasions referenced a “dark winter” ahead. In the event these policies are implemented; it may be a dark four years ahead.
