DRINK RUM WITH EXPATS THEATRE / UK
“Magnificent Fringe legends” (TimeOut London) Sh!t Theatre make their Adelaide debut with their multi-award-winning bold, political, and funny show, Drink Rum with Expats. Celebrating their final year as Europeans, island monkeys Becca Biscuit and Louise Mothersole are invited to the European Capital of Culture in Malta. They head to the island paradise in the hopes of drinking rum with Brits abroad, but found a lot more than they expected. Travelling from one small island in the sea to another, Sh!t Theatre found murder, mystery, and corruption among the glistening sea and balmy nights out with their countrymen. A critically acclaimed rollicking and riotous exploration of immigration and home.

Acclaimed writer and poet Liz Lochhead’s un-PC, rude, rhyming, and hilarious cut of Moliere’s classic tale has been relocated to a Scottish living room in the 1940s, with an extra dash of Scotch language for good measure! Sex: men and women use it against each other. Con man Tartuffe, with his perfect mark in the form of a gullible suburban paterfamilias, is about to meet his match when a trophy wife and the family’s sassy maid team up to take him down. They’re smart. They’re successful. They’re women. Julie Bishop and Julia Gillard rose to the top of #auspol until it all came crashing down. They may have left politics, but that doesn’t mean they’re over it. This drag revenge fantasy tears through the halls of Parliament and the last decade of Australian politics, taking a sledgehammer, an axe and a vial of poison to the Patriarchy and its army of red and blue ties. United by rage. Spurred on by revenge. Men ruined their dreams, now they will kill everyone. NUMINOUS ASYLUM THEATRE / SA
Describing an experience that makes you fearful, yet fascinated, awed yet attracted — the powerful, personal experience of being overwhelmed and inspired. This beautiful distraction is a culminating theatre, dance performance intertwined with film, sound and spoken word to create exactly what its name portrays. Focusing on the estranged relationship between the medical system and mental health, this multimedia experience will create a hauntingly beautiful imprint, that will aim at changing community perception, by providing an insight into the irony surrounding common beliefs and shining a light on how we, as human beings, can united, achieve greater healing and understanding of the roots from which we all grow.

POST- MORTEM
Remember teenage love? Obsessive and knotted together. Nancy and Alex met in biology class dissecting a pig heart. They believed their love was eternal. Until they broke it. Reunited ten years later at their best friends’ wedding, another dissection begins.
THEATRE / UK
Post-Mortem is an unflinching, complex, and comedic look at the giddy joy of young love, the trauma which outlives it, and the lies we tell ourselves when love dies. Award-winning playwright Iskandar R. Sharazuddin turns the typical two-hander on its head with an intimate fusion of physical theatre, and gripping new writing.

TABLE FOR TWO?
THEATRE / NSW
As a dysfunctional restaurant prepares for its grand re-opening, the staff soon realise they might be in for a long night... Returning from an award-winning 2019 Adelaide Fringe season, HST favourite Will Tredinnick is back! A physical comedy, ‘Table for Two?’ is a 50 minute egg-and-spoon sprint through the underbrush. The stakes are high, the food is tinned and at the end of it, there might be dessert. A unique theatre experience full of good laughs, terrible table service and more audience participation than you bargained for. Table for Two? takes your order and then forgets it, asks for it again and then loses the docket. From Blumenthalian gastronomic experiments to mixological mishaps, prepare to be whisked off your feet and sieved into a melting pot of characters, calamity and caviar*. *all caviar served will be tinned

BEN VOLCHOK PRESENTS

THE FINAL HOURS HOUR THEATRE / VIC
What is the point of art in a dying world? What makes life worth living? Can a human being subsist on nothing but onions? Find out in The Final Hours Hour, a comedy play by Ben Volchok about loneliness, apocalypse and the things we do to counteract them both. Also: onions. The Final Hours Hour is set after the end of the world, where one lone soul in a bunker broadcasts a radio show to anyone who might be listening across the very dead air. The show toes the line between comedy and theatre, between expectations and reality. There’s jokes, drama, onions, multiple tape recorders, and...have I mentioned onions? Let’s face it: the world is slowly disintegrating before our eyes. We’re all (well, I am anyway) terrified, but hopeful. This show channels that fear into a dark, silly piece of theatre that is both a cry for help and a declaration of acceptance.

Roger’s life is turned into a tumultuous grab for the remains of his charred manhood and burnt marriage. This 90-minute experience will introduce you to the system that saved his life, continues to save his sanity and will work for anyone who is willing to commit to it.
Simon & Garfunkel: Through the Years is the most authentic sounding tribute concert to the unforgettable music of Simon & Garfunkel. Made up of Dan Haynes & Pete Richards, Bookends have toured the globe extensively with their concerts being described as ‘simply breath-taking’.
This is a program for living for those aspiring to be saints who have lived too long among demons. This is an alternative vision for life at a time devoid of real values and connection. This could be the thing you have been looking for and it’s weird that this is the way you’re going to find it.
Performing the songs in a truly captivating way, against a backdrop of iconic imagery, their delicate recreation of the unmistakable sound of the American folk-rock duo is something of a masterpiece. Bookends have been performing their unique, world-class concert to audiences in some of the finest theatres and concert halls across the UK, Europe and the United States. This is without doubt the closest thing to Simon & Garfunkel touring the world today.

ABOUT HST & OUR AWARDS
Holden Street Theatres is the ‘Home of Theatre’ in Adelaide and is one of the city’s most loved boutique venues. We strive to support South Australia’s arts industry, and offer performances and venue hire services all year round. HST strive for cultural and artistic significance on a local, national, and international scale, but above all we’re passionate about theatre.
ABOUT HST
We are globally recognised for our high calibre program during the Adelaide Fringe due to the success of The Holden Street Theatres’ Edinburgh Fringe Award. The award is acknowledged as one of the most prestigious on the Edinburgh Fringe circuit, and is the only award of its kind in the world to offer a tour to the Adelaide Fringe. Through this pathway, we introduce new work and world theatre trends to our own industry and audiences, and motivate local artists to create and present theatre in Edinburgh. Our thanks go to our Scottish friends and colleagues: the staff at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, The Scotsman Newspaper for allowing us to be a part of their award ceremony every year, the venues throughout Edinburgh that allow us to search for the next amazing show, and to the range of international producers and arts practitioners who made up the judging panel in 2019. Some stand-outs from our program over the past eleven years include Build A Rocket, Flesh & Bone, A Gambler’s Guide to Dying, Bitch Boxer by Charlotte Josephine, Bound by Jesse Britton, Glory Dazed by Cat Jones, Heroine for Breakfast by Philip Stokes, and The Tailor of Inverness – Krawiec z Inverness by Matthew Zajak. The Holden Street Theatres’ Adelaide Fringe Award is given in association with the Adelaide Critics Circle to a local company or artist to support them in the development of their next work, or for performance throughout the year or during the following Fringe. This is the only award of its kind in the Adelaide Fringe that gives back to our own industry in this way. Past winners of this award include CCtheatreCo, Joanne Hartstone, and Josh Belperio. We humbly embrace our ‘Home of Theatre’ title and we adore and cherish our dedicated audience. Thank you for choosing to see one of our shows, and we look forward to seeing you around Holden Street again this year.
