AEFL February 2011 Certificate 1 Clinic
AEFL Pty Ltd is the new face of Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) in Australia! The company was formed in November 2010 to promote awareness of and participation in this therapeutic interaction between horses and people in a way that is positive, fulfilling and safe for all parties involved. What is EFL? For those new to the scene, EFL is a guided interaction between horses and people designed to promote experiential learning for all the participants. Sessions bring together horses and people in a safe, supervised environment designed to elicit positive and empowering interaction. The majority of sessions involve interacting with the horse from the ground and although riding is a possibility, most people will experience EFL and its many benefits in this way. Many children with some kind of learning disability (form Autism Spectrum disorders to Bullying victims) have responded well to EFL but in essence all individuals can benefit from EFL in some way.

therapies in Australia at present. AEFL Pty Ltd intends to provide some criteria and values that protect and enhance the EFL experience that will eventually become recognized as industry standards for the benefit of all operating under the AEFL banner. A recent 4 day clinic at Tooradin Estate in SE Victoria saw 8 new facilitators successfully completing the clinic and now hopefully promoting EFL in various parts of Victoria and New South Wales and able to provide a valuable and lifeenriching experience to their clients. Congratulations to all participants and we look forward to welcoming more facilitators in the near future!

Several organisations in the USA have pioneered various types of therapeutic interaction with horses including EFL for decades but there is very little regulation or standardization connected with horse
