The secret is in dyeing and blending the individual strands of yarn. This interplay of slightly varying tones creates a captivating visual experience.
Heritage Craftsmanship
The Holland & Sherry mill in Tome, Chile is the core symbol of our devotion to fully vertical textile production.
From dyeing the wool fiber and spinning yarn to weaving and finishing, all facets of the manufacturing process are fulfilled within these walls, expertly combining both state-of-the-art machinery and artisan techniques.
This gives us in-house quality control as well as unparalleled flexibility in design.

ALABASTER
Innovative Wool Design
Both the Andes and Patagonia collections are available in five different qualities: plain cut, loop pile, J weave, tip shear, and sweater weave. No matter which qualities you choose, you’ll fall in love with the soft touch, durability, and beautiful craftsmanship.

HERITAGE KNIT
PLAIN CUT: An artisan pushes yarn through a backing, using a tufting gun. After the loops are tufted through the backing, the pile is cut to a uniform height using specialized shears or clippers. This step ensures a smooth, level pile surface and refines the plush texture of the rug. Cut pile rugs can feature different pile heights within the design. This technique is achieved by trimming certain areas of the pile to varying heights during the finishing process.
LOOP PILE: An artisan pushes yarn through a backing, using a tufting gun, creating loops of yarn that remain uncut. The visible loops form the surface pile, creating a distinct texture, with a durable finish. Loop pile rugs are more resistant to crushing and matting, making them suitable for high traffic areas.
J WEAVE: Our J-Weave construction is achieved by using a technique where the yarns are tufted at varying heights to create a textured, dimensional surface. The yarn is looped through the backing material in a J shape, with taller and shorter yarn ends forming an irregular surface texture and pile height. The pile texture finished with an imperfect linear effect, thus offering a great substitute to a hand knotted rug.
TIP SHEAR: Tip-shear pile in hand-tufted rugs is achieved by selectively shearing or trimming only the tips of specific loops in a loop-pile rug, leaving other loops uncut. This creates a textured effect where the sheared areas have a velvety, softer look, while the uncut loops maintain a firmer texture. This technique allows for subtle patterns, tone variations, and added depth in the rug’s design.
HERITAGE KNIT: Inspired by a cable knit sweater, this braided texture creates a soft, plush surface for your home. Made from our fine merino wool and long yarn floats, this texture requires careful maintenance. The hand-knit, thick pilw is best for low-traffic areas. Heritage Knit rugs come in rectangular or circular shapes, each finished with a durable backing to maintain its shape.
FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE DESIGNS
