Holland & Sherry is pleased to present a comprehensive new collection of luxurious denim fabrics. Popularised by Hollywood in the 1930’s, denim is as in-demand today as it was then, but has undergone a few makeovers along the way.

The collection encompasses three different qualities covering a variety of weights and a broad choice of both traditional, and contemporary colours.

History Taking its name from the French city where it was created and first produced, “sergé de Nîmes”, the traditional denim was specifically designed for the working man. With this in mind, denim had to be strong and durable, and with that came a considerable amount of discomfort that seemed to dissipate with age and wear.

The dye used was indigo, not for its aesthetic, fashionable appeal, but because it was cheap, readily available and concealed dirt. Indigo dye does not penetrate yarn or fabric, it merely sits on the surface producing a vivid and intense blue like no other. Inevitably over time, dye is lost and the vivid blue becomes faded. By this point the garment is comfortable, relaxed and worn looking; a look preferred by most, even to this day.

By contrast, Holland & Sherry offers three qualities of denim fabric with luxury appeal; all three are comfortable to wear and will retain their shape and beauty.

Denim garments were traditionally coloured indigo because the dye was cheap, readily available and concealed dirt.

Construction Constructed from a 3/1 twill whereby one white weft thread passes under three and over one indigo coloured warp threads, producing a steep contrasting twill line.

Today, these weaving principles remain the same, and it is this technique we have adopted to weave two of the qualities introduced in this collection.

Denim garments traditionally have an orange seam to match the copper rivets.

Included in the collection are: An all-wool; a wool and cotton; and a wool, cotton, Lycra® quality. The first two qualities are woven in the traditional way, with a contrasting warp and weft. The third quality is a piece dye quality that has the added benefit of Lycra.

Lycra provides any garment with extra comfort, makes it more durable and crease resistant, and allows it to keep its shape for longer. This collection hosts a whole range of colours, including traditional blues and contemporary greens, pinks and reds.

Holland & Sherry freut sich, eine umfassende neue Kollektion an luxuriösen Denim-Stoffen präsentieren zu können. Denim ist heute noch so gefragt wie damals, als der Stoff in den 1930er Jahren dank Hollywood bekannt wurde. Im Laufe der Jahre hat er sich jedoch einige Male neu erfunden.

La collection englobe trois qualités différentes qui incluent des épaisseurs variées et un large choix de couleurs, allant des couleurs traditionnelles à des couleurs contemporaines.

L’histoire du denim Le terme « denim » provient de la ville où ce tissu a été créé et produit pour la première fois, à savoir « sergé de Nîmes ». À l’origine, le denim était spécialement conçu pour les ouvriers, donc il devait être à la fois robuste et durable. Ces deux conditions engendraient un certain inconfort qui semblait toutefois se dissiper avec l’âge et l’usure du tissu.

Le tissu était teint en bleu indigo, non pas pour des raisons esthétiques ou de mode, mais parce que c’était une teinture peu onéreuse, qui cachait facilement la saleté et qui était également aisément disponible. L’indigo ne pénètre pas la trame ou le tissu. Il repose tout simplement sur la surface et produit un bleu vif et intense unique. La teinte se perd inévitablement au fil du temps, et ce bleu vif s’atténue et passe. C’est à partir de ce moment-là que le vêtement devient confortable, qu’il se détend et qu’il a l’aspect très porté.

En contraste à cela, Holland & Sherry offre trois qualités de denim à l’aspect luxueux. Les trois sont confortables et ils conservent leur aspect et leur forme.

Armure Le denim est tissé en 3/1. C’est-à-dire qu’un fil de trame blanc passe sous trois fils de chaîne indigo et par dessus un. Cela produit une oblique très contrastée.

Ces principes de tissage sont inchangés et c’est donc la technique que nous avons adoptée pour deux des qualités de tissus de cette collection.

La collection comprend : Tout-laine ; laine et coton ; et laine, coton, Lycra®. Les deux premières qualités sont tissées selon la manière traditionnelle avec un fil de trame et un fil de chaîne contrastés. La troisième qualité est teinte en pièce avec le bénéfice ajouté du Lycra. Grâce au Lycra, le tissu se froisse moins facilement et le vêtement est plus confortable, plus durable et peut garder sa forme plus longtemps.

Cette collection comprend un large éventail de couleurs, allant des bleus traditionnels, jusqu’à des verts, roses et rouges contemporains.

Geschichte Denim hat seinen Namen der französischen Stadt Serge de Nim zu verdanken, in der der Stoff zum ersten Mal hauptsächlich für Arbeiter hergestellt wurde. Um seinen Zweck zu erfüllen, musste der Stoff also vor allem besonders fest und strapazierfähig sein. Die neu angefertigten Kleidungsstücke waren daher zunächst unbequem, im Laufe der Zeit verbesserte sich der Komfort jedoch spürbar.

Als Farbe kam indigoblau zum Einsatz, da es vor allem billig, leicht verfügbar und schmutzabweisend war. Indigoblau dringt nicht in das Garn oder den Stoff ein, sondern bleibt an der Oberfläche und lässt ein unglaublich leuchtendes und intensives Blau entstehen. Mit der Zeit verliert der Stoff an Farbe und das Blau verblasst. Bis zu dem Zeitpunkt ist das Kleidungsstück bequem, leger und sieht getragen aus – ein Look, der bis heute im Trend ist.

Im Gegensatz dazu bietet Holland & Sherry drei Stoffqualitäten in edlem Denim-Design.

Alle drei haben einen hohen Tragekomfort und behalten ihre Form und ihr Erscheinungsbild bei.

Gewebekonstruktion Der Stoff ist aus einem 3/1 Twill gewebt, wobei ein weißer Schussfaden unter drei und über einen indigoblauen Kettfaden gezogen wird, sodass ein kontrastfarbener Köpergrat entsteht.

Diese Webart wird noch heute verwendet und wir haben die Technik für zwei der Qualitäten in dieser Kollektion übernommen.

Die Kollektion besteht aus: Einem Wollstoff, einem Wolle-BaumwolleGemisch und einem Gemisch aus Wolle Baumwolle und Lycra®. Die beiden ersten Qualitäten werden traditionell mit einem kontrastfarbenen Schuss- und Kettfaden hergestellt. Die dritte Qualität ist stückgefärbt und profitiert von den Vorteilen des LycraStoffes. Lycra verleiht jedem Kleidungsstück zusätzlichen Komfort, verbessert die Strapazierfähigkeit und Knitterfreiheit und sorgt dafür, dass das Kleidungsstück länger die Form hält. Die Kollektion bietet eine große Auswahl an Farben, darunter die traditionellen Blautöne, aber auch moderne Grün-, Pink- und Rottöne.

La collezione comprende tre diverse qualità in una varietà di grammature e offre una vasta scelta di colori sia tradizionali che contemporanei.

Storia Il “Serge de Nîmes”, il denim tradizionale, ha preso il nome dalla città francese dove nacque e venne prodotto per la prima volta, e dove è stato progettato specificatamente per i lavoratori manuali. La necessità di produrre un tessuto resistente e durevole ha portato alla creazione di un tessuto molto ruvido e scomodo che però si ammorbidiva con il passare del tempo e con l’uso.

Veniva tinto con l’indaco naturale, non per il suo aspetto estetico, ma perché costava poco, all’epoca si trovava facilmente e il colore scuro nascondeva lo sporco. L’indaco non penetra nel filato o nel tessuto ma rimane sulla superficie producendo il caratteristico colore blu intenso.

Inevitabilmente, nel tempo la tintura sbiadisce e l’intensità del blu diminuisce. Con l’uso il capo diventa più comodo da indossare e assume un aspetto più morbido e vissuto, un look molto ricercato e alla moda ancora oggi.

In netto contrasto con la storia del denim, Holland & Sherry offre tre qualità di tessuto denim eleganti; tutti e tre sono comodi da indossare e mantengono la forma e il loro look raffinato nel tempo.

Struttura I tessuti in denim sono costituiti da una saia 3/1 in cui un filo di trama bianco passa sotto tre fili di ordito di colore indaco e poi sopra un filo di ordito di colore indico, creando una trama diagonale accentuata a contrasto.

Questo metodo di tessitura rimane invariato ancora oggi ed è la stessa tecnica che abbiamo adottato per tessere due delle qualità create per questa collezione La collezione comprende: Una qualità di lana al 100%; una di lana misto a cotone e un misto lana, cotone e Lycra®.

Le prime due qualità sono intessute in modo tradizionale, con ordito e trama contrastanti.

La terza qualità è un tessuto misto colorato dopo la tessitura con gli ulteriori vantaggi offerti dalle proprietà della Lycra. La presenza della Lycra conferisce ulteriore morbidezza ai capi realizzati con questi tessuti, li rende più durevoli e resistenti alle pieghe e aiuta a mantenerne la forma più a lungo. La collezione Denim di Holland & Sherry offre una vasta gamma di colori a scelta, tra cui sfumature blu denim tradizionali e dei colori più contemporanei tra cui varie tonalità di verde, rosa e rosso.

Уникальная коллекция денима от Holland & Sherry предлагает три вида ткани, которые, в отличие от своих предшественников, выглядят роскошно, сохраняют свою форму и красоту, и при этом их чрезвычайно приятно носить. Ткани первых двух направлений сотканы традиционным способом из окрашенной основной и неокрашенной уточной нитей. В третьей части коллекции представлены полностью окрашенные ткани с добавлением лайкры. Благодаря лайкре одежда становится более удобной и прочной, не мнется, долго сохраняет форму. Расцветки денима не ограничиваются традиционными оттенками синего, в коллекции представлены и современные зеленые, розовые и красные цвета.
