The Netherlands has a Christian background, and therefore celebrates many Christian holidays. On those days, companies and schools are closed.

● King’s Day (Koningsdag): 27 April
● National Remembrance Day/ Dodenherdenking: 4 May (not an official holiday)
● Liberation Day (Bevrijdingsdag) 5 May (holiday every 5 years, next in 2025)
● Ascension (Hemelvaartsdag): 18 May
● Whitsun and Second Day of Whitsun (Pinksteren en Tweede Pinksterdag)
28-29 May
● Sinterklaas 5 December (not an official holiday)
