Holland & Knight Grows Southern California Finance Practice with Addition of 3 Partners

Finance attorneys Paul Severin, Kristin Bacchus and Patricia Whitten have joined Holland & Knight's nationally recognized Financial Services Team in Los Angeles as partners. They were previously partners with Loeb & Loeb, where Mr. Severin recently served as vice chair of the firm.

"Paul's, Kristin's and Tricia's experience in representing major banks and other lenders provides us with a distinct opportunity to grow our lender-side capabilities nationally and on the West Coast. Also joining the firm as part of the new group are Associates Ava Amini in Los Angeles, Michael Byrnes in Houston and Chris McAlister in Dallas.

About Our New Financial Services Partners

Paul Severin focuses his practice on representing financial institutions in secured and unsecured lending and finance transactions, including securities-based lending, asset-based lending, derivatives, private equity and hedge fund transactions. He also has extensive experience handling mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private placements, venture capital transactions, joint ventures and general corporate representation of clients in a variety of day-to-day matters. Mr. Severin's clients range from established and major multinational financial institutions and public companies to startup companies and individuals. He earned an LL.B. degree from the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Law and a B.A. degree from the University of Toronto.

Kristin Bacchus focuses her practice on complex domestic and crossborder finance transactions. She has extensive experience representing financial institutions in connection with loans to private equity sponsors and principals, corporate entities, investment vehicles and high-networth individuals. Ms. Bacchus also advises on secured and unsecured financings, partner loan and co-investment programs, hedge fund and securities-based lending, art lending, leveraged buyouts, bridge financing and subscription facilities. She earned her J.D. and LL.M. degrees from Duke University School of Law and a B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Tricia Whitten counsels financial institutions in structured finance and debt financing transactions for privately held and publicly owned corporate borrowers and companies She focuses on a wide range of commercial lending and banking transactions, including senior secured and unsecured lending, art financing transactions, securities-based lending and hedge fund transactions. Ms. Whitten also advises clients in private equity transactions, bridge financings and subscription facilities. She earned her J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law and a B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University.
