Our real estate team represents clients in wind energy project development, siting, permitting and tax incentive structuring, offshore wind project site leasing, regulatory planning and offshore development contracting, as well as all real estate, entitlements, land use and environmental compliance. Our work on behalf of solar energy clients covers every aspect of solar project development and operations, both in the U.S. and internationally. This includes general transactional work, project finance, U.S. government financing and procurement, domestic and international tax advice and structuring, joint ventures, acquisitions and due diligence. Holland & Knight has extensive experience advising landlords and tenants with respect to leasing, construction and acquisition matters related to battery storage facilities and manufacturing. Our team, based on our decades of experience in advising energy companies, guides power generators, distributors and users of stored energy through a host of legal, financial, power purchase agreements and regulatory challenges. Represented an American energy storage company in connection with one of the largest redevelopment projects in West Virginia that included a $290 million financial package from the state; the project is located within a former steel mill complex, and Holland & Knight was able to have the state take ownership of the site in order to avoid any environmental liability; the state will convey the property back to the client for $1 after certain thresholds are met Represented a client in connection with the redevelopment of a site in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to provide services for a terminal and logistics base for offshore wind construction

Represented a client in connection with the redevelopment of a site in Salem, Massachusetts, to be used as a marshaling area for an offshore wind project

Represented a client, as landlord, in negotiating several battery storage leasing agreements

Represented a large utility and solar developer in permitting issues for acquisition of a solar project in Northern California

Represented a large project developer in a joint venture with one of the largest infrastructure banks in the world to jointly develop and sell a large portfolio of solar energy projects around the U.S.

Advised a New England-based entity in the acquisition, development, operation and financing of projects totaling more than 200 megawatts (MW) in the eastern U.S. and Texas

Advised a residential real estate developer in Washington, D.C., on several rooftop solar project transactions

Represented a developer in multiple tax credit syndication funds, including a fund contain 20 solar photovoltaic (PV) projects of various sizes located throughout the U.S.

Represented the largest developer of offshore wind projects in the world on regulatory, permitting and commercial contracting issues related to the proposed development of numerous commercial-scale offshore wind generation projects in the U.S.

Represented a private equity group in the proposed acquisition of renewable energy asset portfolios, with projects located in California and the Southwest

Represented an independent U.S. power producer in its acquisition of the Lake Benton wind project, a 106.5 MW facility in Minnesota and the 79.5 MW Storm Lake II wind project facility in Iowa, along with a tax-based equity investment
