Miriam Soler Ramos is a seasoned real estate attorney who leads the firm's Florida State and Local Government Ethics Team, drawing on more than 20 years of experience practicing in government to counsel developers, property owners, corporations, businesses, and elected and appointed officials. Ms. Ramos' previous experience includes serving as attorney for the city of Coral Gables, Florida. She also served as deputy general counsel and deputy advocate for the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust and began her career as a state prosecutor. Ms. Ramos also served two terms on the Florida Bar Professional Ethics Committee and currently serves on the Florida Bar's Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee.
Karen D. Walker is a partner in Holland & Knight's Tallahassee and Washington, D.C., offices, where she leads the firm's Government Section and oversees the provision of government affairs and regulatory services to firm clients. Ms. Walker represents clients in all aspects of state and local government procurement, including analyzing potential contracting opportunities and assisting clients in responding to competitive solicitations, contract negotiations, bid protests, contract implementation and performance issues, contract disputes and compliance matters. In representing clients who contract with state and local governmental entities, Ms. Walker regularly provides advice and counsel on ethics and compliance issues and has represented clients before the Florida Ethics Commission.
