letter of agreement dear mr. and mrs. jones, it was a pleasure meeting with you to discuss the design of your international vacation home in bergen, norway. this letter of agreement will outline the services, fees, and other responsibilities of this firm. to our understanding, your entire 3 bedroom home will be included in this project. your home will feature local design and architecture as well as all materials, finishes, and furniture. we understand you enjoy the very modern and unique danish and tree style homes and want to source products from around bergen. the approach to this project will be the following:

Develop an accurate floor plan Prepare preliminary drawings and specifications Provide elevations of built in cabinetry Finalize all construction documents and drawings Provide ffe selections consult with architects, contractors, and other advisors needed for the project Review all drawings and documents to be approved

Compensation / payment the client agrees to pay an hourly fee of $30.00 for all services described above. Additional expenses include travel time and other expenses may be necessary and will be discussed with you before they are incurred by the designer. a retainer fee of $1,000 will be required upon signing this agreement. An invoice will be sent after preliminary plans are reviewed with the client and after approval of finalized drawings and documents. an invoice will also be sent at the completion of the project. all payments are due within 10 days of receiving the invoice. we are excited to work with you and help design your dream vacation home. thank you, client signatures holly mueller

THe clients for this project want a 2-3 bedroom summer home located in bergen, norway. along with featuring local design and architecture, they would like to source as many materials and furniture from that region as possible. they have very minimal design aesthetic and aren’t set on a specific design style. Their end goal is to use this home as an airbnb when they are not staying there.

bergen, norway is a city on the west coast of norway. known as the second largest city in norway, bergen has a population of about 284,000 people. the city is surrounded by mountains and is known as the “city of seven mountains”. Bergen has a mild winter climate and the mountains protect the city from cold winds.


design research

scandinavian design is the most popular design style used in norwegian homes. this simplistic, minimal, and functional design style originated in the nordic countries and has become hugely influential around the world. DESIGN CHARACTERISTICS: -

black and white are the most commonly used colors in scandinavian design interiors are light, bright and airy with neutral shades carpets are rarely seen the most common material used is wood from floor to ceiling, which makes a room seem open, airy, and clean - large floor-to-ceiling windows are common to let light in
