Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

A Taste of Yorkshire Weekend Our Yorkshire tour takes in the Market Towns of Ilkley, Grassington and Skipton. We also visit the historic village of Haworth and conclude with a Steam Train journey.

After Breakfast, we make our way over the Moors to the world famous village of Haworth.

FRIDAY Late afternoon departure travelling to our Holiday Inn Hotel at Brighouse. Settle in and perhaps enjoy a drink or snack in the Lounge Bar.

SATURDAY A good old fashioned Yorkshire Cooked Breakfast. We then depart to the Yorkshire Dales. Skipton

We visit the famous Victorian Spa town of Ilkley, before continuing into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales to Grassington. Grassington is a popular village with stunning scenery, lovely stone buildings and welcoming Shops and Pubs. We then travel to Skipton. Here the town is known for its Castle, Church, Canals and regular markets.

Holiday Inn

Skipton has an award winning High Street, a Tourist Office, Boat Trips and a good choice of places for hearty food and drink.

We return to the Holiday Inn, where Dinner is included this evening.

This is the home of the Brontë family, whose novels included Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre. You can visit the Brontë Parsonage, or take an early Lunch at one of the Public Houses before we join the Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway for a journey to Keighley. This Railway was featured in the films ‘The Railway Children’, ‘Yanks’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and of course ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. From Keighley, our Coach returns to the West Midlands.

From here we make a Lunch stop at the Oxfordshire Village of Woodstock before continuing to the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon.

DAY 1 Morning departure for our scenic journey through the Cotswolds, making interesting stops at Bourton on the Water and historic Cirencester. We then travel to our Hilton Hotel. Settle in, relax and then take Dinner in the Restaurant.

Here in its ancient narrow streets, you can see the setting for many Film and TV productions, browse the unique little Shops or view the historic Abbey. We then continue to another historic place with a famous Cathedral – Salisbury. Salisbury is the only City in Wiltshire and has many attractions, High Street Shops, Museums and places for Lunch. Our tour of Wiltshire wonders continues when we call at Devizes. Founded in Norman times, this ancient market town has many surprises for its visitors with an attractive centre and many interesting secrets to be told. Our last call is at the World Heritage Site of Avebury.

A full and exciting day driving along the spectacular Antrim Coast. We visit the world famous Giants Causeway where we include admission to the Giants Causeway Visitor Centre. We return in time for Dinner.

THURSDAY

TUESDAY After a hearty Breakfast we are joined by a local Guide for a tour of Belfast. It is an international destination full of history and interest.

Irish Breakfast and then we depart across the border to Southern Ireland and the vibrant city of Dublin. Time to view the main sights before our transfer to the Stillorgan Park Hotel. Dinner is once again included.

Here in the famous shipyards of Harland and Wolff the ill-fated Titanic was built.

FRIDAY After an early Buffet Breakfast we travel to the Port for our 0820 crossing to Holyhead. We return through Wales and along the M6 back to the West Midlands, arriving late afternoon.
