ITINERARY

FRIDAY

Departing late Friday Afternoon, we travel to the Doubletree Hotel near Wiltshire’s largest and most important town – Swindon. Time to settle in, relax and enjoy an included late Dinner.

SATURDAY

A Full English Cooked Breakfast starts our day before our fascinating day exploring Wiltshire. Firstly a one hour visit to the rural village of Lacock.

Here in its ancient narrow streets, you can see the setting for many Film and TV productions and view the Historic Abbey.

We then continue to another ancient destination with a famous Cathedral – Salisbury. Salisbury has many attractions, High Street Shops, Museums and a regular Saturday Market. There is an excellent choice of Restaurants for a tasty Lunch.

Our tour of Wiltshire Wonders continues when we drive through Devizes. Founded in Norman times, this Historic Market Town has over 500 Listed Buildings.

It is the home of Titanic Auction House and we will take in the view of the Famous Caen Hill Flight of 29 Canal Locks!

We then make our final stop at the World Heritage Site of Avebury.

It is known throughout the World for its Stone Circles – The Largest in Europe, so it is both a tourist attraction and an important religious site. Here we also find Avebury Manor in this charming Wiltshire Village.

SUNDAY

Sunday Breakfast before we depart to the pretty Market Town of Marlborough.

The High Street is one of the widest in the UK with 2 Churches, Boutiques and Tea Shops.

On the way we pass Marlborough College – The World Famous Boarding School with many well-known former pupils including The Duchess of Cambridge.

We then travel to our final Wiltshire destination – The Museum of the Great Western Railway – ‘Steam’ – Housed in the beautifully restored former Railway Works. Here you will see how thousands of ordinary Men and Women worked in the magic time of Steam Railways.

Next door is the Swindon Designer outlet with lots of Shops and places to eat.

We return to the Midlands in the Afternoon.
