ALL TIME LOW MANCHESTER ARENA On Friday night beloved Baltimore natives All Time Low paid a visit to Manchester Arena, part way through their ‘Last Young Renegades’ tour to treat the audience of adoring fans to a night of dancing, singalongs and a unique two part show. By the time support band Creeper had taken to the stage, Manchester arena was buzzing with energy and excitement for when All Time Low were about to take the crowd of old and new fans by storm. All Time Low started the night by playing 10 year old album So Wrong It’s Right in it’s entirety. It is clear to see that the songs are still held close in people’s memories and hearts as fans of all ages belt the lyrics back to the band. Tracks such as ‘The Beach’ and ‘Vegas’ are filled with nostalgia and happy go lucky expression, which is welcomed by the thousands of people in the crowd, as they catch on to the band’s infectious energy and really start to lose themselves in the music. After a 30 minute interval, the 21,000 capacity arena is yet again filled with excitement and a new found energy for when the band take to the stage for a second time to play some more recent tracks from their latest seventh studio album ‘Last Young Renegade’.

’Manchester, it’s so great to see you again!’’ beams singer Alex Gaskarth as he walks onto the stage, guitar in hand ready to kick off the night yet again with ‘Last Young Renegade’ which is greeted with the audience screaming the lyrics back, just as loud as the band on stage. Fan made signs started to appear into the second song of the set, fans at the front of the stage holding up pieces of cardboard that read ‘Can I play guitar with you?’’ One thing you’re promised at an All Time Low show is the effortless banter between guitarist Jack Barakat and singer Alex Gaskarth, throughout the night making endless jokes about how it had been ten years since the release of So Wrong It’s Right, and how the first time they heard an All Time Low song in a club was in Manchester’s own Satan’s Hollow. Overall, All Time Low played a superb and polished set to Manchester Arena. It is clear to see that after a decade of playing together, the band have got their live shows down to a fine art.

Having only released their second album ‘I Don’t Run’ this month, Hinds set out on a UK tour and graced Manchester’s Gorilla for their second show on the tour. Shortly after the quartet bounded onto the stage with cans of beer in hand, singer Carlotta Cosials announced that they would be playing a mixture of old and new songs - ‘the classics’ she called them as they now have two albums. Once the band had been greeted by a sea of cheers and arms in the air, they wasted no time in getting straight into playing the infectious indie pop melodies of ‘The Club’ which was received well by the audience as they began to dance and loosen up for what was to be a night of none stop sing a longs, and jumping up and down. It was then that singer Ana Perotte thanked the crowd for selling the show out - as it was the first gig of the tour to sell out. The smiles on their faces which never faded all night long proved how grateful they were for the audience to be jumping up and down constantly and screaming their lyrics back to them. Songs such as ‘Easy’ provided the crowd with a brief moment of calm before the chorus and guitars kicked back in, and the whole room was jumping up and down together once again. Even though their album had only been released a matter of weeks ago, fans in the audience seemed to know every word to new songs like ‘Echoing My Name’ and ‘Soberland’ which seemed to surprise Ana and Carlotta, ‘You guys know the words already, good job!’’ beamed Carlotta before the band took the night’s proceedings down a notch when they began to play a more mellow and less energetic song ‘Linda’, which was still welcomed by the crowd as they swayed from side to side and stood transfixed on the band on stage. Shortly after the band would leave the stage, the encore arrived and the band jumped straight into fan favorite ‘San Diego’ which had the audience jumping around together for one last time. The energy of every member of Hinds is infectious and you can’t help but have a smile on your face too.

live ANTEROS JIMMY’S

tell me over breakfast Last week, dream pop band Anteros brought their em-

powering lyrics and infectious beats to a sold out show at Jimmy’s in Manchester. Midway through creating their debut album, Anteros, fronted by lead vocalist and ‘girl party’ enthusiast Laura Hayden, treated their fans to an intimate performance of their existing hits, as well as some new tracks.

The tempo was sped up once again with fan favourites ‘The Beat’ and ‘Ring Ring’, and the chemistry between the band members was evident as they effortlessly gelled together to perform every track.

The whole audience piped up to sing ‘I’m so drunk and in love with you’ during the Spanish infused ‘Drunk’ and next came one of the rare ‘consented’ stage invasions in the form of girl power hit ‘Bonnie’. The girls of the audience were invited to dance Anteros began with the uber-boppy ‘Cherry Drop’ and sing on stage, in a prevailing which automatically got the audience on their feet, moment in which Laura named a followed by a new track ‘Fool Moon’, fitting with the bands consistent space theme. Manchester’s own Gathering of Strangers hyped the crowd before their headliner, and songs such as ‘Something in the Water’ with its strong bassline kicked off the dancing in the crowd.

We can’t recommend Anteros enough for an empowering, inclusive and dance filled gig, where they never fail to make an intimate setting feel so, so much bigger.
