n this issue, we feature Nate “Impact” Jolley, super producer and businessman who embodies the makings of a lasting Hollywood Success Story –while keeping abreast of the trends and maintaining a low profile. Hollywood Weekly sat down with Nate at his Los Angeles recording studio to discuss his accomplishments, the launch of in house power team Lion Pack Music Group (LPMG) and future endeavors. The #Impact … “Nate has an energy and a light that has always shined. The creative juices are in his soul. He has always been determined and had his goals.” said Denise Jolley, Nate’s mother. As always, mother knows best. Born and raised in Washington D.C., Nate is a child prodigy percussionist, multiinstrumentalist, and composer, all attributes that lend to his phenomenal ability to create innovative, meaningful, and impactful music with worldwide popularity. “I got my name from doing what I do best!” said The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University trained musician. Working with Kenny Lattimore and being nominated at the 33rd Annual Stellar Awards for Special Al bum of the Year… “It was incredible. I feel like people know me for what I do with their vocals; so, anytime I get to produce an icon, we’re reaching for greatness. We are both from Washington D.C. so there was a natural synergy already there.” Jolley said. “Af ter we recorded the first single “Real Love This Christmas” Kenny ended up doing a deal with Motown Gospel. This Christ-
mas album was pretty much a break through. The Album charted number four on the Billboard Gospel charts and we were blessed to be nominated for this year’s Stellar Awards.” What was it like working with Hero, another super producer, to create Austin Mahone’s “Perfect Beauty” which led to its commercial placement? “Hero and I met through one of the foremost engineers in the business, Dave Pensado (Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Beyoncé & more). This was Hero’s and my firsttime collaborating with another artist together.” Jolley said. “We did the song for a commercial, Perfect Beauty Shampoo, a company based out of Japan! Austin was already attached to the commercial as an artist and the collaboration made sense with Hero, who has more than 45 number one records in Japan. “Perfect Beauty” was an International Release and Top 10 record on Billboard charts in Japan. “Why Did You Decide to Launch Lion Pack Music Group (LPMG)? What Inspired Its Creation, And How Do You Envision Lion Pack’s Impact? “Comes from the fact that I have a twin brother (award winning pianist) Noble Jolley. We are both Leos which is the sign of a Lion. Lions are powerful because, unlike most animals, they are better in packs than they are by themselves. I am the same way. That’s what it takes to build a great team and everyone that is on the team makes me better. I’m better having them around than I would be alone. “Jolley said. “There are different ways to get your music heard. Obviously, Lion Pack has a home in the music world on the Billboard charts; likewise, in the online space with platforms like Spotify, YouTube & many others. I am always surprised and shocked when I have clients that do a song in the studio and a week later, it has a million views of people enjoying what we did. It’s awesome because you have to the opportunity to go directly to the consumer. I love working with social media influencers who have major followings without a major label behind them. It falls in line with our business model. It’s why we are looked at as Leaders of the New School. We have our hand on the pulse of what’s happening right now. What is so shocking to me, is the amount of talent that comes to Los Angeles and are gone within six months to one year HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY • 7

because they don’t have the right resources. You take an Austin Mahone; he has more than 10 million Instagram followers, & four million YouTube subscribers, without a major label.” What is the first step for an artist who would like to be considered to work with the LPMG team? “We have been blessed to work with many talented artists who were able to measurably advance their careers under the direction of the Lion Pack team. We like to do an initial consultation to get a feel for where the artist is, where they want to go, and where they want to be; we pretty much help facilitate that!” Nate is particularly excited about 13 year old Shahadi Wright Joseph (Hairspray; Lion King). “She’s got it.” Nate exclaimed to Hollywood Weekly. “She’s going places.” Shahadi’s mother, Dina Wright Joseph, also chatted with Hollywood Weekly about how Nate guided and mentored Shahadi. “Our initial consult with Nate was as perfect as anyone would want their introduction to the music business to be.” Wright Joseph said. “His process was simple. He spoke directly to Shahadi and asked about her musical pref10 • HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY

erences, her favorite vocalists and singing genres. After that, he listened to her sing. By the following day we received our first sample of “Love For The Holidays”.” Nate’s work ethic, perfectionism, charisma and indefatigability thoroughly impressed Shahadi’s parents. What are some of the projects you’ve recently worked on? “The last 12 months have been great. As I’ve mentioned, I love great voices. I was able to work on Grammy Award winning icon Chante Moore’s the Rise of The Phoenix album. My brother and I produced a track called “We Up” that debuted Top 10 iTunes. I love working with seasoned artist as well as up & coming artists. Having my degree in jazz allows me to work with an artist to keep musical integrity while infusing the new sound of today. People want real music, people want to feel again, and live instrumentation is a huge part of that wave. That leads me to Elijah Blake’s Album. One thing you will see is that none of these artists have major label deals. Elijah wrote “Climax” for Usher and as a vocalist he is one of the best, his solo project reached iTunes’ Top 10 position. I was

blessed to work with Lola Monroe, a talented rapper from my hometown D.C. as well, & arguably one of the Top five MCs in the industry King Los. The record we did was called “Deserve,” which aired on two episodes of season one E! TV’s The Platinum Life.” The Top Ten Billboard charting producer received a nomination for the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for Best Song – Documentary award with Dalal Bruchmann (composer & social media influencer), producing the record “Superman”. I have to shout out my Leo family, Rayven Justice. He’s an independent artist making a lot of noise! I produced a record for Rayven featuring Too Short called “#IDFWU”. It’s been doing well online and is getting a lot of great feedback. There are some new companies you are excited about? Tell us why. There are two companies that I feel are on the forefront with ground breaking software for the new Music Industry. For Elijah Blake’s album we used Session Wire which connects people on different platforms and that gives you a live experience. For instance, one of the bass play-
ers on Lion Pack and I were in different cities and were able to record the session together in real time. A call came in from the music supervisor for E! TV. She needed the song in its final form within a day. I mixed the song and had to get it mastered. I used LANDR, an online company that masters your song within minutes of uploading it. I submitted that version to the show and it was accepted immediately. So, I am just excited to be working with different music, getting into the film space, and focusing on taking this whole thing to the next level. People can definitely look forward to new film projects that we already have in the works. Nate’s Musical Magic and Creative Synergy Began Nate’s dazzling career honors the historic musical legacy of his father, the late Noble Jolley Sr. (a highly respected jazz musician, entrepreneur & evangelist), while simultaneously embracing and defining progression. Indeed, redefining how music is created and shared worldwide. Nate’s efforts cater to artists of all ages and genres around the globe. Nate performed in public at a very HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY • 11
young age. Very often and very well. “By the time I was 16, Noble and I had composed 200 to 300 songs.” Nate told Hollywood Weekly. “Although we had performed live often before, the first live performance that I remember distinctly was when I was about 13 years old. “What makes Nate great is that he’s a visionary.” He’s always succeeds in whatever he puts his mind to,” Noble said. How Nate Creates, Amazes and Impacts . . . And Who Helped Him Get There It’s one thing to be good at composing, performing various instruments and producing. It’s another thing to be phenomenal and cutting edge – to be a leader and innovator at all those endeavors. “I thought he was going to be a preacher.” His maternal grandmother Mary Bossard told Hollywood Weekly as his grandfather Nathan Bossard giggled in agreement. “He always expressed himself so well and he is so articulate and talented.” Nate’s effervescent personality is probably one of his greatest traits. He genuinely loves people and people are drawn to him because of it. He will always keep you laughing! His father also taught him how to be a man, how to love humanity, and how to always be the best. What makes Nate great is that he’s a visionary. “He always succeeds in whatever he puts his mind to,” Noble said. Hollywood Weekly agrees. The sky is the limit regarding Nate’s gifts, especially when it comes to his range of genres and his impact on the musical world and society in general. Nate learned to intellectualize, as well as to be emotive, when songwriting, composing, collaborating and producing from Noble Sr. along with Professor Nasar Abadey, who teaches percussion and jazz at the Peabody Conservatory. “At Peabody, students must learn to write music, orchestrate it, and to transcribe it as well.” Professor Abadey said. “Nate has all those talents and he is a sharp music business man as well.” “Before you create a piece, how do you prepare yourself and get in the groove?” Hollywood Weekly asked Nathan. “I pray that God will bless me and that I can bless others through the music.” Nate simply responded. “It all starts with God.” Nate was also taught by iconic father figure mentor Benjamin Wright. Wright is a veteran force in the music industry (music arranger & composer). He has 12 • HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY
collaborated with notable artists, including Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Ty Dolla, Earth, Wind & Fire, and more. Wright knows a thing or two about the music industry, from composing, writing to producing music. Most of all, about keeping centered and focused when engaging in all musical endeavors. “I’ve talked to Nate a lot about having a spiritual connection when engaging in musical creativity.” Wright told Hollywood Weekly. “I have observed him as he engages his faith, I’ve seen him grow in his Godly work, advised him to always recognize the spiritual connotations of his God given talents, and I’ve watched him grow and prosper.” And, with Godspeed, Nate “Impact” Jolley’s beat goes on. Devious Maids Roselyn Sanchez on her role in the tense new thriller “Traffik” by Alex A. Kecskes

B
o rn in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Roselyn Sanchez was Miss Puerto Rico Petite 1993 and 1994 and won the international title of Miss America Petite. She is widely known for her roles in “Act of Valor,” “Rush Hour 2” and “Death of a Vegas Showgirl.” Fans of the TV series “Devious Maids” know her best as Carmen Luna, a maid aspiring to be a singer. And fans of “Without a Trace” remember her as Special Agent Elena Delgado. In the human trafficking thriller “Traffik,” Sanchez is Malia, who struggles with trust issues before realizing she must do everything she can to save herself and her best friend Brea (Paula Patton). In our interview, Sanchez reveals her passion for acting, the growing opportunities for Latinas in film, and what she drew from to bring her character to life. Hollywood Weekly: What attracted you to this action-packed thriller? Roselyn Sanchez: I got the early draft of the script and I was told that director Deon (Taylor) wanted to meet me. He’s known for his comedies. But he explained his reason for writing this thriller, which
is based on a true story he experienced with a girl he knew. She had disappeared for years and when he saw her again in Los Angeles, she explained that she was taken to a different country and trafficked for years. She was able to get out and she’s fine now after many years of therapy. Deon couldn’t stop thinking about it, so he started to write this story about human trafficking. It’s basically a home invasion movie, which leads you into this crazy world. It’s sad to say, but it’s an entertaining edgeof-your-seat thriller. And you leave the theater realizing that this is very common. HW: Did you audition for the role? If so what was that like? RS: No. I was very lucky that Deon wanted me to be part of the film. When I met him, the role of Malia wasn’t that developed. He eventually gave her more substance and more of an arc. HW: What did you draw from to play Malia, a woman who is brutally victimized by human trafficking? RS: I had read about the subject matter and used a lot of imagination. Human trafficking is such a foreign concept to a normal person. You know that it exists and that some people talk about it. But you never think in a million years that something like that could happen to you. All the actors read about it and realized that it’s very common. We wanted to understand that universe, which is so horrific. I’ve been through a home invasion. I
was almost sixteen years old in Puerto Rico and I was by myself with my mom. I have three brothers and a dad. It would’ve ended differently if they were there, but it was three men and it was horrific. So that part, I knew very well. But when it comes to human trafficking, I had no idea, so you have to use your imagination. And draw on ‘what if, what if, what if.’ You have to put yourself in that place. HW: How are you like your character Malia and how are you different? RS: I don’t think we’re alike at all. Malia is with someone she loves. But I think she’s there because she’s comfortable. Darren (Laz Alonso) does very well financially. And even though she’s clear about the fact that he doesn’t really respect her or loves her the way she loves him, she’s comfortable and she likes the lifestyle. She’ll stay until she can’t stay anymore. And that’s what happens. She gets to a point in her life where she faces the reality that she’s not happy and she decides just to leave him. I’ve never depended on anyone. I don’t understand that mentality, which is very common with women. They just settle because they’re comfortable. My favorite scene for me was when Malia walked out on him because it takes a lot of courage to do that for a girl that’s comfortable. She decides she just has to grow up. HW: “Traffik” has plenty of action and conflict. What challenges did you face during filming? HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY • 15

"Be 100 percent sure that acting is what you want to do. This business is not easy." HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY • 17
RS: I’m severely claustrophobic and that last scene inside the cave was actually a mine. It was like 3 a.m. in the morning, freezing, and with the special effects makeup, it was very uncomfortable for me. So it was challenging because I didn’t want to get a panic attack, which I get very easily. So they had to work with me to convince me that Roselyn Sanchez, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso and Omar Epps photo by Scott Everett courtesy of White/Codeblack Films

I really wasn’t trapped there. Getting myself to where I felt I’d been raped, abused, and that my life was potentially over was really hard. But I loved doing it as an actress because it’s a role that let me play so far against type. It’s a blessing and I loved every second of it.
HW: You said once, you’d love to do a musical. Can you go into why? RS: I grew up in Puerto Rico as an actor and singer. I wanted to do musical theater in New York. I moved to the states when I was almost 22. My dream was to do Broadway. It’s funny but I’ve done everything but that, which is the reason I came to the
states. I don’t know if it’s written in my cards that it will ever happen for me. The reason I moved to L.A. from New York was to do “Fame LA,” which was a remake of the original “Fame.” I was able to sing and dance and act. To this day, it was my favorite job because I did everything I love. I was so excited when I heard that Steven
Spielberg is doing “West Side Story.” I thought, oh my God, that would be great. But they wanted actors who are 16 to 18, so that’s a problem (laughs). HW: You also said you love acting and when a month passes and you’re not working, you’re miserable. How do you deal with those gaps? RS: I try not to have gaps. The only time I had gaps was when I was pregnant. I’m always working and traveling. I left for maternity when I was 30 and it wasn’t easy. I had to slow down to be a mom. Both times, I had to take time off and thank God it happened. But the pregnancy was almost 10 months and then three months after that. I’m not going to lie, it’s hard because I’m happy when I’m working. My husband knows that and we’re always having conversations about me staying home and I say, no I can’t. HW: How do you think roles for Latina actors have improved over the years? RS: They have improved. Even though I accept the reality that Latinas are severely underrepresented, my experience in this business is that I’ve played everything— teacher, lawyer, doctor, FBI agent. My roles have always been strong, highly educated Latinas. So I can’t complain. I did do “Devious Maids” for four years but I didn’t have a problem playing a maid because I didn’t think it was a stereotype. It was these four fierce Latinas who all
had incredible stories. They worked hard and they all had the American dream. As long as the role gives you the opportunity to shine, I won’t judge a role. If I think it’s a great role that gives me a good arc, I don’t care what I’m playing. But I do feel for the number of Latinas in this country, we have proven that we do go to the movies and that we move the economy. So it doesn’t matter what kind of role, there just needs to be more. HW: What advice would you give young actors eager to enter the profession? RS: Be 100 percent sure that acting is what you want to do. This business is not easy because it’s based on rejection. You’re going to hear 100 no’s before you hear one yes. Auditioning is brutal. You’re basically exposing yourself for five minutes to convince someone who has never acted that you can do a role. It’s aggravating and with all the effort you put into it, they give you a few minutes and they dismiss you because they didn’t like your hair color. You have to know for sure that your skin is thick enough to take it. This is not a game. It’s a profession like any other. You have to have some respect for education to be able to do it. But it’s a wonderful life when you make it. You get to be creative and it’s beautiful. But out of 10, one gets lucky.

onight, a glamourous New York crowd gathered at The Carlyle hotel to celebrate the premiere of Matthew Miele’s documentary film ‘Always at The Carlyle’ presented by Moët & Chandon (official trailer). The celebration kicked off with an exclusive screening of the film at the Paris Theater followed by a private afterparty at the iconic Carlyle hotel. The premiere debuted on the heels of Monday’s Met Gala – to which The Carlyle famously hosts Hollywood and the fashion industry’s A-list to dress year after year for New York’s most elite gathering. While the Rosewood Hotel has housed some of the world’s most famous clientele throughout its 87 years, the stories within the walls of The Carlyle rarely leave the premise, until now. Miele’s ‘Always at the Carlyle’ offers a provocative peek into the pop culture history, all from the mouths of The Carlyle’s own guests and employees (more details below).

s a member of the media, as a writer, a person with a Graphic Design degree who has been told our responsibility comes from being historians & recording moments in time, I find myself excited to be living in the same time as Kanye West. Here is someone who is obviously going to go down in history, who’s faith is yet to be determined as to how his legend will be told. Theres also a story to be told about my admiration for Mr. West, a moment in design school tells it best. In constructing a layout spread for Kanye West as a class project, my professor expressed his dislike for the man & asked me what my obsession was. Finding myself constantly sticking up for this “Mr. West guy’s” genius in, orchestrating his own recording production, instrumentation, writing & vocals I simply say “Not many in his industry have done what he’s done”, (that industry being the field of rap & hip-hop). Fast forward from my time in college to present day May 2018, me as many others are still defending this man because he speaks for a lot of people even when he comes off “wrong”. “When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years That sounds like a choice!”-Kanye West Theres alot of controversy surrounding the comments of Mr. West when he took to TMZ during the beginning of May, In case you shy away from the world of entertainment, Mr.West took to the media outlet to share his thoughts on Slavery, Free Thought, Donald Trump, The Media & his Opiod Addiction. Keep in mind, this article isn’t meant to be aimed at what was said, but rather the symbolism behind someone with as much stature as Kanye West means to show up to a Post-Modern day Media-Outlet & express himself in a office setting for millions of people to react across the world. (It just takes one Youtube search to see where this article is going (search: Kanye West’s Rant In TMZ Office the Extended Cut) “You had me scared of myself, of my vision so I took some pills so I wouldn’t go to the hospital & prove everyone right”… A strong silence hits the media room before Kanye West continues to talk as a whole office watches him speak. I sit in awe, thumb finger on my chin, when I watch this video. These are words coming from a intelligent man, & they have a meaning bigger than it-self, perhaps these are statements that can’t be understood in the present moment altogether because they cause people to automatically react without understanding or listening… but seeing as this is the only entertainment news worthy of discussion which may in fact may go down in history as one of the greatest “speeches” aimed at the media, I 38 • HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY
figure why not try to understand. First of all we have to know what Kanye West means to people like me so lets take it there to shed some light from a inner city kid’s perspective. Growing up was rough, I grew up in the cold New York City streets, music was our only way to get us through rough times & cold winters. Can you recall a moment in your adolescence when you were listening to a song & kind of freaked out because you thought “is this person reading my mind because their saying everything I’ve been trying to express to people for years” well for album after album that’s what Kanye West was to a lot of people like me. Creator of classic LP’s such as “College Dropout”, “Graduation” which includes songs that somewhat focused on past historical events & figures. For instance in the song “Crack Music” Mr. West express’s his emotions on older generation musician “Gil Scot Heron” who succumbed to the “curse” of being labeled a junkie for his reputation of using heroin. Gil Scot Heron, is still admired by the hip-hop & jazz communities his voice was sampled by “Drake” in the hit-song “Take Care” ft Rihanna, he was also sampled by Rap-Artist “Nas” in “New York Is Killing Me”. However It seems as though the perspective has switched from Kanye West expressing his thoughts on people of the world, to expressing himself as a person living in today’s world. Where the conversation hasn’t switched much except now instead of speaking of others Mr. West speaks of himself, with deeper understanding of today’s industry & what it can do to a human being. Going as high up as he has in rankings in fashion & music your forced to pay attention. During the recent “TMZ visit” Mr. West says “I was drugged the F**k out bro I had plastic surgery because I was trying to look good for y’all,” he continued toTMZ. “I got liposuction because I didn’t want y’all to call me fat like y’all called Rob [Kardashian]” he says all this in defense of him shutting down his tour & his outlandish tweets which many news sources had a field day with labeling him “Crazy”.There is something more going on here, you can’t help but wonder for a second & maybe somewhere in there he might have a point on how controlling the media is. You put together his words on “slavery being a choice” & this statement, maybe this is Kanye trying to break out of the mold & not be controlled by the media, going straight to the source & telling it like it is. Does the industry work around a hidden system of enslavement? Alright so we know slavery wasn’t a choice from the enslaved perspective. Though maybe slavery was a choice from the perspective of those who were enslaving. But who’s to say much has changed? The media is an industry within itself,
& there are many working the media-field trying to paint their own image of the Earth. Look at the covers of the magazines you read, the free subscription ones that you don’t even ask for… they just show up, now picture the person who designed that cover of the magazine, those pages, who took the photo of that person, picture the office of that titled publication… what are they all working around better yet what are they all working towards. Most of them are working around people, with the goal of persuading or informing someone of some choice they should make, but that’s just stating the obvious. As a member of the media I feel as though we should take pre-cautions, & see how what we write & present to the world affects people. We shouldn’t dictate our lives based on the reporting of TMZ or any news source for that matter. People who’s opinion matter, get their news sources from “BBC” “CNN” & they still question half of the stuff reported on those legit networks. Can you remember anything that TMZ reported last year? Any noteworthy reporting is remembered for 6-7 days the most, after that it becomes what everyone calls “old news”. But we can’t pretend that even those who choose to think this way are ignoring what’s going on. What do you glaze at when you go food shopping at the supermarket on your way to check out? You can’t ignore the news as much as you’d like too. Which is what Donald Trump’s organization is truly based around… “The Media”. Which brings me to my final point. “Hip-hop loves Trump!”-Kanye West. Which is true take it from Raekwon, one of the originators from “the golden age” hip-hop era who said this on his infamous song “Incarcerated Scarfaces” “Raise a heavy generator But yo, guess who’s the black Trump?” there’s a whole list of people who were admiring Trump before the presidency that list including the likes of Tupac Shakur & many others. Not trying to take sides but simply state maybe we all put too much emphasis on what was said by who, never questioning the legitmacy of any source. We as a society need to take, everything that’s said with a grain of salt & never forget to save some salt for your news intake. The beauty of America is that were all entitled to our own opinions but when we let the media control our actions & get the best of us we are then enslaving our-selves.

hroughout all times and different historical periods there always were women born to be visionaries. Women changed the World with their strength, passion, resistance, will and of course love, because they have their purpose - to tell their story, help other to be better and create brighter Tomorrow. That is why it so perfect to witness females who are passionate about empowering younger generations I’m sitting with Jenn Dawn on a luxurious rooftop of her apartment complex. It is a first warm and sunny day in LA, and we both are enjoying a warm afternoon breeze of almost cold air. She definitely was getting ready for our meeting. Next on table I see several different blingy jars of her own cosmetic line, the magazine cover with her signature on it and a bright smile from under her big and stylish sunglasses. I never met her before and to break the ice I started with few polite questions. Tatiana: Tell me, please, who is Jenn Dawn, and what we need to know about her? Jennifer: I’m the oldest of three girls, originally from Northern California, Sonoma County. I’ve started off as a makeup artist in San Francisco, working at Macy’s. I was working for Laura Mercier when she first launched her line. That’s where I just fell in love with Beauty and the Art of Cosmetics. I enjoy all those little steps I can do to make another woman feel beautiful and confident. Then I moved to a next step - freelancing independently, and again it always was about helping other women around me to discover their inner potential. Eventually I took an interest in acting. I moved to LA and started taking acting classes. Again, it was about discovering my potentials and helping others to see their inner beauty. Shortly after I was scouted by Gordon Rael from Playboy. I did some work with them with top photographers in LA. and then I took some break to concentrate more on cosmetics and beauty. T: Rumor has it, you started your own cosmetics line. How that happened? J: Well, actually that was my Grandmother. She was known to do a lot of beauty prod-
ucts herself from scratch, and of course all ingredients were organic. My Mom was also heavily into Beauty, and she made sure to instill in all of us the fundamental understanding of Beauty and taking care of ourselves, which was very important part along with her love in shaping us to a confident and self sufficient women. So I really can say that my passion for cosmetics comes down the line from my Grandmother and my Mother. Honestly, my passion for beautifying and empowering women just simply inspires me. T: What so special about your own cosmetic line? J: It’s’ called Ice Vida. I’ve created it about 4 years ago. I just had a vision and went along with it. “Ice” associated with Diamonds and bling, and “Vida” is Spanish for Life. I chose this words because my Dad was Spanish, and I wanted to incorporate this lineage of me into this project. So Ice Vida is almost like Bling Life, which is kinda current in Urban Communities now. I just took off with the idea, and there we are today. I ventured to different lines as well now. I’m pretty much a hands-on woman and always put my ideas to a good use. I’ve created my own logo, designed packaging. Everything I do eventually brings me back to cosmetics. T: There are so many other lines of cosmetics out there. Where do you see yourself going with this. How are you planning to distribute it and bit the competition? J: Firstly it’s my packaging what sets me apart from all others. I’m an Artist at heart and like to be very creative. Packaging is indeed very girly, blingy and different. I was choosing something that represents myself, and will look good not just to use but also to decorate the place where these products will be displayed. Not once I was complimented on my creativity and told that it’s different from what’s out there. I’m just choosing something

that represents myself. The colors and shapes I’ve chosen are very modern and related to the entertainment industry trends. I have bright metallic colors that pop. T: What you currently have in your collection? J: I have two lines that are coming out right now. Vixen Lips, it’s metallic infused with glitter, and also Boss Gloss, which is thicker gloss with glitter. Our products are 90% organic and contain some amazing ingredients. I’m also doing a skincare line which is Ice Vida Skin. What set me apart - I’d say my packaging and ingredients. Ice Vida Skin packaging is pretty similar to an ice cube and very futuristic and eye catching. Also, I have an Apple stem cell in my products, and it is infused with CBD which helps to fight cancer cells, it also has anti-aging properties in it. Apple Stem provides more dramatic results in decreasing lines, wrinkles, and environmental damage. This product is really good and it works, and I can’t stop telling all women around me about benefits of this miracle product. I just want to preserve the youth of women, which is so important to all of us. Hollywood or night, but at the end of the day we all want to feel good about ourselves, right? It just makes me happy to make other women happy, to boost their self esteem and be a role model for young girls. T: Do you even know how amazing that is what you are doing? How do you yourself in the future? What makes you to get up in the morning and going about your day? J: Well, I have two boys, and whatever I do is always for them. I just don’t have a choice but to succeed! Not only that! My passion is Beauty, and to create things which matter… I have a vision of what I need to accomplish and a lot of times I’m told that I’m jumping ahead of my time. It took me years, and a lot of trials and errors, but I always knew that there is something bigger coming on my plate, and I do whatever it takes not to miss any good and positive opportunities. That’s how we learn, if we won’t fail than we won’t learn from those mistakes and won’t strive to be better, right? T: Jennifer, you just brought up such a valid and important point. There are indeed so 42 • HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY
many women and men who just give up when life gets tough, and than they complain why nothing is happening for them. I’m glad you are not one of them! J: Well, I come from a line of very strong women, and my mother used to tell us all the time that we should follow our hearts and do what we envision we should. That is very simple, but gave me lots of strength and will power. Whatever I do I always want to make my Mother and Grandmother proud. I am a spiritual person, and I can truthfully say that I’ve been through a lot of difficult situations and my Faith has always supported me. I know there is a higher purpose for me T: Rumor has it that you will be a beauty consultant for the Hollywood Weekly. What would you teach you readers J: I would love to have this opportunity. We are talking about it right now. I would share some secrets about Beauty products, makeup, some advices and hands on experience. T: You are a very busy business woman and a mother to two courageous boys, how do you manage it all, what is your support system? J: I love my boys and always enjoy their daily endeavors. As for support, that would be my Mother. She always believed in me and supported all sorts of ideas I ever had because she wanted me to be brave and learn and experience things. If I ever had any doubts she always had right words to say and encourage me and my sisters. She always new my potentials and was always patient when I was making mistakes, because she wanted me to find the right way and make it my own T: What do you like to do in the rare moments when you do have free time? Please share J: Well, when I sometimes do have free time than I love to write poetry and music. These are among a few of my cherished things I immensely enjoy doing from time to time. T: Well, once you are creative than it stays with you forever, right? Are you planning to release any of your song? J: Actually yes. It’s being discussed and I
can’t yet go into any details. I do like to share something else though. I’m working on it right now, and my heart goes to this venture too. I also am working on a book. It will be called “Trinkets of My Soul.” That book will be about my life story, and how and why I’ve chosen to do inspire women around me to find themselves, to find their inner strength so they can bring out the best in them out and have the better life. It should be very interesting journey to write this book. T: What you are saying here is just amazing. I meet lately a lot of people who overcame a lot of stressful or disastrous situations, and it is amazing to see how strong they have become through such ordeals, They got second chance in life and always willing to share their experience in hopes to ease a burden for someone else and I see the same pattern here. I am saying “Thank You” on behalf of those woman who will be reading your story and definitely they will be able to take away a lot from it. There are so many situations when women have no recourse to channel out their hurt or problems, and when they will be able to read your story and see how strong and beautiful you are from inside out, that definitely should give them hopes and willpower for the better Before we ended this interview I came up with one more sudden question T: Jennifer, if someone will give you an empty bottle and ask you to write a message to future generations and than though it to the ocean, what that message would be? “Believe in your dreams cause they are possible”
