The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia - by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. The California Southland Chapter provides free educational programs, support services and care consultations across the Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernadino, Kern, Tulare, Kings and Inyo counties while also supporting critical research towards a cure. The Corita Art Center, a project of the Immaculate Heart Community, preserves and promotes Corita Kent’s art, teaching, and passion for social justice. Today, the Corita Art Center supports exhibition loans and public programs, oversees image and merchandising rights, sells Corita’s original prints, and serves as a resource of information about her life and work. Corita Kent, also known as Sister Mary Corita, was an artist with an innovative approach to design and education. By the 1960s, her vibrant serigraphs were drawing international acclaim. Corita’s work reflected her concerns about poverty, racism, and war, and her messages of peace and social justice continue to resonate with audiences today.

Food on Foot

Food on Foot is a Hollywood based nonprofit that has been helping our homeless and low-income neighbors since 1996 with food, full-time jobs, permanent housing, and lifeskills education. We distribute meals to approximately 200 homeless and low-income people every Sunday. In addition to distributing food, we have a successful jobs & housing program for high-functioning (low acuity) homeless men and women. Each of our participants must perform a random act of kindness to enter the Work for Food program each week. This way, our clients learn that giving back is more powerful than receiving. Additionally, participants clean the streets of Hollywood, and before COVID-19, they were also cleaning the Hollywood Farmers' Market weekly. Several of the jobs we place our participants in are in the Hollywood area as well. Graduates from this program leave the streets with a full-time job, a fully furnished apartment, and a lifeskills education. Equally important, they leave with the confidence of knowing they CAN make it on their own. 85% of the people we find jobs for are still in those jobs one year later.

Valerie Jurado Botanical Design

Valerie Jurado Botanical Design is a design studio. Valerie is a self-taught floral designer, entrepenuer, feminist, traveler, mom, and workshop teacher. She established her business in Highland Park and now operates in the LA Arts District. Over the course of a few years, the company has grown to provide more than just florals. As the Creative Director, she has expanded her knowledge in Biophilia, leading her team in plant styling, plant installation, and maintenance services. Afterwards, she counseled and mentored inner city youth, and even organized healthcare workers' unions. Life just kept returning her to the floral field.
