President's Message

Published quarterly by the

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce 6255 Sunset Blvd, Ste 150 Hollywood, CA 90028 323.469.8311 hollywoodchamber.net

A

new year means new opportunities in the Chamber world. As our staff prepares for the upcoming year of advocacy and events, I want to take special focus on another branch of the Chamber – the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee (PAC).

Much of what we do at the Chamber is to lift up the business community in Hollywood. The PAC, operating with a separate non-profit status, allows the business community to participate in the political process at a higher level by endorsing and making direct contributions to candidates who have Hollywood's best interests in mind. Highlighted in this issue is the Chamber PAC's endorsements for open seats in the California State Assembly, Los Angeles City Council, and L.A. County Board of Supervisors. As a Chamber member, I want you to know that we welcome your input and contribution to the PAC, so that together we can create a Hollywood experience that exceeds the dream. To enhance the Hollywood experience means holding on to the traditions that have made Hollywood great while welcoming new ideas, businesses, and industries to the table. At the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, we are always ready to welcome and support new businesses. Recently, we were proud to welcome Washington-based retailer of pop culture items, Funko to Hollywood! With a proven track record of success Funko created a buzz before it arrived. The Chamber is thrilled to support businesses moving to Hollywood and look forward to welcoming more to our community in the year to come. Warmest regards,

Rana Ghadban President & CEO Hollywood Chamber of Commerce

Why are you running for this position? I’m proud to say that since first being elected, I’ve been the principal author of legislation that has made our state more sustainable, protected our vulnerable populations, and brought new affordable housing to our communities. Our state is facing significant challenges, I believe I have a proven track-record, and am ready to continue putting forward solutions by serving another term in the State Assembly.

Why are you running for this position? Since elected, I have fought to get our fair share of tax dollars back into the San Fernando Valley... Our work is far from finished. We are fixing our highways, filling potholes, and funding solutions to our homelesness crisis.

Why are you running for this position? I'm excited for the chance to continue my work in a final term. The last ten years I was instrumental in saving the City from bankruptcy, launching the largest transportation infrastructure program in the nation, advocating for a clean energy portfolio, developing an effective job creation and economic development strategy, and crafting solutions to address the homelessness crisis. I am very proud to have earned the Chamber's support and endorsement and I look forward to continued collaboration in the term to come.

Why are you running for this position? Looking to my re-election, I am excited to continue this work, as well as to take meaningful action on the crisis of homelessness, fight for more affordable housing, and protect the incredible environment that makes Los Angeles the best city in the world. As we head toward election day on March 3rd, I am so happy to have the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce PAC by my side.

NURY MARTINEZ (CD-6)

MARQUEECE HARRIS-DAWSON (CD-8)

Why are you running for this position? I am running for re-election because I believe we’ve made a lot of progress building the kind of Los Angeles we all deserve, but we’ve only just begun to tackle the biggest issues facing our communities.
