GENERAL INFORMATION DIRECTIONS: By Road: From Ml, exit Junction 9 (turn left if travelling northbound and right if southbound), follow signs towards Whipsnade and Dunstable (AS). You will pass a Little Chef on the right, followed by the Moat House Hotel. Ignore the signs directing you to tum left to Markyate and keep going on the AS. Turn right immediately after the concrete footbridge going across the road. This road is called Hicks Road and leads into Windmill Road. Conditions concerning Vendors 17
"The Auctioneers" means Holt & Company, Auctioneers of Modern and Antique Guns. " The Auctioneer" means the representative of Holt & Company, Auctioneers of Modern and Antique Guns conducting the sale;
18. All goods will be insured by the Auctioneers whilst in th ei r cust ody or in the premises unless written instructions to the contra ry are received. The va lue of the cover shall be the gross sel ling price of the goods or, in the case of unsold lots or lots withdrawn before sa le, the auction value as estimated by the Auctioneers. The premium for insurance cover shall be £1.00 (+VAT) per £ 100. The minimum charge will be £1.00 (+VAT) per lot.
"The hammer price" means the price at which any lot is knocked down to a buyer. " Deliberate forgery" means an im itation made with the intention to deceive as to authorship, origin, age o r source, which is not so described in the catalogue and which has a value materially less than if it had been in accordance with the description in the catalogue.

2. The highest bidder sha ll be the buyer. In the event of any dispute, the Auctioneer's decision shall be final.
22. The Auctioneers shall have the right to photograph and illustrate any lot consigned for sale and to use such photographs at their discretion. The vendor accepts without further consultati on that a charge of £75 (+VAT) per illustrated lot may be made towards the recovery of photographic expenses.
3. Th e Auction eer shall have absolute discretion to withdraw, alter or combine with any other lot all lots offered for sale. A ll lots are offered subject to any reserve prices imposed by the vendor.

Whilst every care is taken in the preparation of catalog ues, the Auctioneers accept no responsibi lity for any inaccuracies contained therein .

Goods delivered to the Auctioneers shall be deemed to be for sale by auction unless contrary instructions are given at the ti me or in advance.

All lots wil l be sold at the Auctioneer's discretion unless written instructions to the contrary are received. Any reserve fi gure placed upon a lot sha ll be confidential between th e vendor and the Auctioneers. In the event of a lot fai ling to reach its reserve, the Auctio neers shall be entitled to a comm ission of 5.9% (inclusive of VAT) of the reserve price, unless alternative charges have been previously agreed.

A withdrawal fee of 5.9% (inclusive of VAT) of the lower estimate (or reserve price, if there is one) shall be payable to th e Auctioneers for any lot withdrawn after it has been catalogued but before sale.
Conditions concerning Buyers 8.
A buyer's premium of 17.6% (inclusive of VAT) will be added to the hammer price of all lots sold.
24. The vendor indemnifies the Auctioneers against any claim relating to goods sold on his behalf.

Buyers will be required to supply to the Auctioneers their names and addresses and if required, a deposit imm ed iately after the fall of the hammer.

Should the purchaser fail to pay for and remove any lot within seven days fol lowing the sa le, the Auctioneers shal l have the right to re-se ll th e lot at auction or by private treaty without giving notice to the buyer. Any liability to the buyer sha ll be lim ited to the hammer price originally paid.

Should any lot provide to be a deliberate forgery, the Auctioneers, upon receipt of written notice of this fact within one year of th e sa le, shall rescind the sa le or repurchase the lot for an amount equa l to the hammer price plus premium (inc lu sive of VAT), provided that: (a) the lot is returned in the sa me cond ition as at the time of the sa le; (b) written proof of the forgery accompanies the lot and the buyer demonstrates to the reasonable satisfaction of the Auctioneers that in the light of the cata logue description the lot is a deliberate forgery;
Interest ca lculated at 2% above the Base rate prevailing at the National Westmin ster Bank Pie shall be payable as we ll as the purchase price on any accounts not settl ed within two working days fol lowing the sale.

A vendor who enters for a sa le goods which are assets of a VAT registered business must disclose this fact to the Auctioneers. He/she must also provide his/ her registered number and indicate whether or not he/she intends to operate the Special Scheme for Antiques and Works of Art.
(c) The general opinion of scholars and experts at the time of the sa le would have indicated th at the lot was a deliberate forgery: or, (d) sc ientific processes in ex istence at th e time of the sa le would be esta bli shed that the lot was a deliberate forgery. The benefit of this Condition is not assignable.
