Familogue 1989, Building on Strong Foundations, is affectionately dedicated to Dr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Lombardi. Their dedication and have served as an inspiration to everyone who has

perseverance

encountered them. Without their support, neither Familogue nor Folio would have been possible. We thank them for their instruction, their patience, and their unfaltering confidence in our ability to succeed.

The Familogue Staff and Moderator wish to express their undying gratitude to the following people: Sister Patrice for her support and incentive, Phil Klein for his input and patience, Michael Durinzi for his time and impeccable directions, Dr. Thomas F. Lombardi for lending the staff his wife, his photos and his half of the office, Dr. Linda Morante for being a good neighbor, Terri Christofaro for aiding us in our never-ending search for information, Brian McLaughlin for his artwork and hugs, Our families and friends for putting up with us, And last, but far from least, Thank You, God, for Your support.

Sister Francesca, President Dear Students,

group. This year's Student Government, with Michelle Lind as President, has served the students of Holy Family well. Compassion seems to be the hallmark of the Association. As a junior, Michelle organized "Buddy Day" to host special education students. Not only was the activity repeated this year by the Student Government Association, but a dance marathon to finance a dream for a terminally ill child was successfully completed. Traditional College activities continue to be planned and executed. The Battle-of-theClasses, Christmas Rose, and the various dances have been scheduled to provide a social setting for students to becoine better acquainted with each other. In addition, representatives of Student Government serve on the Student Affairs Committee and the Communications Committee which provide forums for student exchange with other segments of the campus community. I have been pleased to serve as moderator.

FRES8NSN EMSS BFFIEERS

To the Class of 1992: The college years are precious and full of promise — some people have even said that these are the best years of your lives. Nothing seems impossible or improbable to freshmen — enormous enthusiasm and boundless energy seemingly surpass all odds.

My message is twofold: Enjoy these. years to their utmost and remember that life is fragile. While you are letting go and having fun, protect and preserve your lives and the lives of those around you.

Sister M. Marcella, CSFN Sophomore Class Moderator

Dear Students of the Sophomore Class, Each of you strives daily to focus on future goals. Despite the turmoil and anxiety that sometimes clouds your ordinary lives, I hope that each of you will maintain a powerful sense of peace. I am hopeful that you'l direct your lives toward the guiding forces of concern for humanity and reconciliation with one another. It has been a great pleasure working with you this past year. Your enthusiasm and good will initiallywelcomed me, and your infectious spirit continues to make our association a joy. I offer my best wishes to the Class of 1991.

Dr. Lawrence Riley Junior Class Moderator

Daniel Organ, Treasurer; Joanne Schauffele, Vice President; Patrick Yurko, President.

Junior year is a special time in college. Juniors can go far beyond the anxieties of the typical freshman and the sophomoric pseudosophistication. Juniors have not yet shouldered the heavier responsibilities of the Seniors. Juniors, therefore, are a happy blend of the carefree and the serious, of the playful and the responsible. This year's Junior Class was notable for its Halloween and St. Patrick's Day Dances. It has participated in Buddy Day, the Thanksgiving Collection, and is planning a major charity event. Having won the "Battle of the Classes," the Junior Class feels it has amply demonstrated

its overall superiority. Still, it looks forward to the day when, as the Senior Class, it takes its place in the forefront of college life.

Dear Seniors: This September brought mixed feelings of excitement and a sense of sadness as this Class of 1989 entered their last year at H.F.C. I have watched this class mature and have been impressed by their loyalty and hard work, both for the College and their own endeavors. Most of all, I have appreciated their kindness, as they have extended themselves to one another and to the community. Indeed, they are true "buddies"! Joan Joyce Senior Class Moderator

SPEEI8h EVENTS The spring and fall semesters were full of activities of all sorts. There was the writing contest which brought out the literary impulses in HFC's students. Although only a limited number of students could be awarded prizes, both entrants and judges benefited from this

sharing of talent. Spring is election time at HFC with the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat being realities for the candidates. The campaigns provide an opportunity for teamwork and friendly competition for the candidates and their election committees. The Red Cross holds bloodmobile s at HFC at selected times throughout the year. Thanks to the selflessness of Holy Family people, the bloodmobiles are always successful. The sweet sounds of WTLN were silenced in the spring of 1988 by unsolvable wiring problems. Our radio station still lies dormant, patiently waiting for rebirth in the College Center.

The elected officers of the Student Government Association of Holy Family College for the 1988-1989 year are (from right) Michelle Lind, President; Joy Santomo, Vice President; Joseph Salvatore, Chairman; Ann Marie (Nancee) Gannon, Secretary, and Geralynn Quinn, Treasurer.

The Bloodmobile came to Holy Family College last spring. 70

Father Smith delivers his sermon.

We began our year with traditional Mass of the Holy Spirit on September 13, 1988. The theme of this year's Mass was, "Where is our newness? Is it here, among all of us? We should respond to life with creativity." In past years, this event was held on the College's lawn, but in order to illustrate this year's theme, Mass was held in the lobby of the College Center under Sr. Martina's Mosaic. 76

Our motto, Teneor Votis, "I am bound by, I am bound to, my responsibilities" was exemplified by Buddy Day. On September 27th, sixty-seven children, ranging in age from seven to fourteen, from Our Lady of Confidence School in North Philadelphia, spent a fun-filled afternoon on our campus. On Buddy Day, college students paired off with a "Buddy" and was

his or her special

friend for the entire afternoon. It was obvious that the collegians had as much fun as their guests. The afternoon's activities included lunch, games, prizes, group dancing, and many hugs. The success of this event was clearly expressed by elevenyear-old "Buddy," Colleen Brady, "I liked everything best. I'm coming back next year." Buddy Day was sponsored by S.G.A. and will, hopefully, become a more firmly established tradition as time passes.

Playing for hugs are Michelle Lind and her buddy.

Having a catch in the sun are John Tobin and his new special friend.
