May 11, 2002 Dear Graduates,
Falling on the eight-month anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11~ on the American people, your Commencement from Holy Family College is a fitting time to reflect on hope, to think about the lasting impression that you will leave upon our world.
"Hope," writes Czech Republic President Vaclav Havel in Disturbing the Peace "is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously headed for success, but, rather, an ability to work for something because it is good, not just because it stands a chance to succeed." Today, you enter a new world and a changed country that willforever bear the scars of an unthinkable attack. The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, the religious community that sponsors Holy Family College, is committed to creating communities of love and of hope, communities that incarnate the oneness of the human family. Out thoughts at this difficult time in our country's history are therefore focused naturally on the present and the future of the family —both our immediate families that have been the cornerstone and hallmark of American life since the dawn of our country, and our broader, yet nonetheless important world family that grows smaller and more connected every day.
.
Your commencement from Holy Family College is indeed a time for hope in your lives; it is a time for celebration, a time to reflect on the lasting impressions you have received and created throughout your years of study. But your commencement is also an invitation and a challenge. We invite you now to take the heart of the college mission —a mission that unequivocally affirms the dignity of all persons and the oneness of the human family, and give witness to the essential truth of this mission in your daily lives. We challenge you now to assume responsibility for your own betterment as individuals, as members of the family of over 8,400 HFC alumni, and as citizens of the world. We ask you to create a lasting impression, an impression of hope, of dignity, of courage on all whom you meet in your daily lives. As you enter a new time in your lives, I hope today that you do so with faith, with hope, and with a renewed optimism. You and the lifetime of good works ahead of you are Holy Family College's legacy to the world. You willbe our lasting impression. Go into your future with grace. Greet this new time in our history with courage. The blessings and support of the Holy Family College community are with you always. Sincerel
you

class
of 2005:
We have encountered many new obstacles this year, and we have enjoyed many new memories that will last a lifetime. As we move up through the class ranks, people will now look to us for help, instead of us asking people for help. We must enjoy these times because the next three years wiU fly by just as fast as this year has. May God grant us the wisdom and power to reach optimum success through the rest of our college careers, and may the Holy Spirit guide us through the good times and the bad. The officers of the class of 2005 would like to thank our fellow classmates for a great year, and we look forward to three more great years. Good luck and God Bless.

enior,Ct'tizen Dinner On October 21,2001 in the College Center everything was set to welcome the special guests of the Senior Citizen~ Dinner. Members of the Holy Family College Community mingled with the seniors and their families. There were old friends meeting again after a long time and new friendships blooming. The students helped to serve the delicious dinner to our guests. As the time passed by, the room filled with joyful sounds of music and conversation. Seeing smiles on seniors'aces and seeing that they were having a good time made everyone feel happy.
4%~ With exams around the corner and deadlines to meet, students need to take a break, kick back, and let their hair down. They need the opportunity to dress to impress and enjoy a night out to strengthen old friendships and build new ones. The annual Fall Ball, held on Friday, November 9 at the Cottage Green was just what was needed.

On December 8, 2001, the Holy Family community celebrated Christmas Rose. Students, faculty, and administration came together in the spirit of the holidays to honor the child whose tears formed a perfect rose to offer as a gift to the baby Jesus. The Student Government Association, along with many others, volunteered their time to help make this Christmas Rose special. Their dedication to Holy Family College community truly exemplifies the real meaning of Christmas.

From the editor:
This year has truly been
of lasting
impressions. With 9-11, all of us have learned how lucky we are to have each other and we learned to be strong and fight for what we stand for. Do not let your dreams be shattered. Reach for the sky; for there is no limit. You will shine no matter what you endeavor. a year
To the freshmen: You have gotten a taste of college through the completion of your first year. Stay focused and work hard; it will all be worth it in the end. These four years will go by quickly, so make the most of it and try to enjoy yourself. To the sophomores: As you are now halfway through your college career, you have set your goals for the future. Continue to work hard, and you will be able to surmount any obstacles that may arise. As you already know, time flies, so stay motivated; the real world is waiting for you. To the juniors: By now you have learned how to manage your time and work load; now it is time to breathe. You are just a year away from your dream becoming reality. Take each day as it comes because before you know it, you will be saying goodbye to your friends, professors and college life.
To Michael McNulty: I cannot express enough all the gratitude I have for everything you did for the yearbook and Holy Family College in general. You are one person that manages to single-handedly do the jobs of many. You are a model for all students. You know how to make deadlines without stress or worry. You always have a sunny disposition and would think nothing of dropping everything to help someone in need. miss seeing you wandering around on campus encouraging students to get involved and promoting events. Best wishes to you and your family for good fortune and years of lasting impressions.
I'l
To Phil Klein, HFC's Josten's representative: Thank you for your cooperation and good humor when we gave you a hard time, especially with the yearbook covers this year. Your guidance and suggestions have always been appreciated, and help make Familogue a document of memories for the students. To the Class of 2002: "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." As the Semisonic song suggests, we are not just closing a chapter in our lives by graduating, but more importantly starting a very new and exciting one. We have been given a gift-an education. What we learned these past four years is a lasting impression of knowledge, civility, and perseverance. All of our stress and anxiety, late night study sessions and last minute cramming for finals has paid off. WE DID IT! United we stand as the Class of 2002. I wish each of you the best of luck as you begin graduate school, careers and families. Good luck and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness!
Sincerely,
/eye&. Pt Editor
Unit d We, the members of the
We Stand Holy Family College community,
sincerely and respectfully dedicate the 2001-2002 Familogue to the victims, families and heroes of the September 11 tragedy. This event was meant to bring down America and its people. It was supposed to destroy our security and our faith. However, Americans showed the world that it brought them back even stronger to their faith and their family. The college motto, "I am bound by my responsibilities," shines in the wake of this tragedy. We are bound by our responsibilities not to lose faith in God and support all of those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Our nation has endured a great loss, but our strength and unity willprevail. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the men and women who gave their lives and those who continue to fight for the freedom and justice for which our nation stands. There is no sentiment that canfulfillthe magnitude of your heroic measures.
As we strive for a peaceful tomorrow, the efforts of our community will not be forgotten.
From the bottom of our hearts, we dedicate this 2001-2002 yearbook.
