Letter from the President May 14, 2005
Dear Graduates, Anatole France, French novelist and critic wrote:
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe." As Holy Family University completes its fifty-firstyear, we continue to not only plan, but also believe in our future as a twenty-first century institution. In 1956-1957, during the university's third year of existence, St. Joseph's Hall welcomed resident students for the first time and it willdo so once again next fall some 49 years Eater. We willalso be unveiling in September 2005 the new home for the School of Education to be known as the Education and Technology Center on the Northeast corner of Grant and Frankford Avenues. This willbe the first new buiMing on the Northeast Philadelphia Campus since 1988. have witnessed firs-hand the pattern of growth that Holy Family University has experienced throughout the years with the construction or acquisition of each structure. I become increasingly aware of the fact that all of these complexes bear witness to the presence of God's Kingdom on earth through the work of Holy Family University. Construction and improvement of buildings is a sign of belief in the future. It is this belief in the future of our institution by the Holy Family community and especially, you the class of 2005, that enables all of us to move in the right direction.
I
The knowledge and skills you have acquired during your years of study at Holy Family University willserve you well in the years ahead. You have pursued your studies in a caring atmosphere that recognizes and assumes the responsibility to affirm the dignity of the human person, the oneness of the huinan family, and the values of the Judeo-Christian tradition. This atmosphere, this caring concern for the individual as a precious member of the university community, has nurtured you both intellectually and spiritually, and willenable you to rise above the crowd in years to come.
In addition to the knowledge you have obtained, the service your have been encouraged to give, the leadership you have been asked to demonstrate, and the care you have been motivated to show for others willhelp you to create a morejust society and a better world. Let the dream of the founding faculty and administration, encouraged by the vision of Blessed Frances Siedliska, foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth inspire you as you move in new directions to pursue further study or seek employment. Weinvite you to take the core of the university's mission-a mission that affirms the dign+ of all persons and the oneness of the human family, and behold the central truth of this mission in your daily lives. We challenge you now to assume responsibility for your own betterment as individuals, as members of the family of over 10,000 Holy Family alumni. By assuming this responsibility you willbe living out the university's motto "Teneor Votis" ("Iam bound by my responsibilities" ). This will enable you to become the competent professionals and responsible citizens you have set out to be during your time at Holy Family. We must be responsible to ourselves, to others, to our country, and to our God. By living out the university's mission and motto each day you willcreate a lasting impression on all whom you come in contact with. We hope Holy Family University has made a lasting impression on each one ofyou. We trust that the memories of the years spent here willremain with you always and offer you a sense of warmth, love, and belonging. You now stand ready to witness significant self fulfillment and are equipped with new visions ofyet greater things to accomplish. ask you to remember in order "to accomplish these great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe"in the new directions you are moving in.
I
With best wishes and prayers,
I remain

Holy Family University offered undergraduate students the opportunity to study in Rome for the fall semester. The Study Abroad Program is coordinated by Dr. Moya Kaporch, Vice President for Planning and Special Projects, and includes a four-day-a-week class schedule. The students live and attend classes at the site of the Generalate of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Courses are taught mainly by Rome-based faculty, however, there are visiting professors on occasion. The students studying in Rome during the Fall 2004 semester are Brianna Duffy (Religious Studies), Erin Farrell (Communications), Amanda LaRose (History), and Joseph Myhasuk(Computer Management Information Systems).

Erin Farrell is especially grateful for the opportunity to study in Rome. She received the Papal Blessing and is delighted to be living with the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. She says, "These ladies are truly special and have really gone out of their way to create a warm and safe environment for all of us to live in. They have really made our campus a home away from home." Erin's opportunity to make new &iends, both Italian and American, contribute to her personal growth and she looks forward to sharing her experiences with the Holy Family community.

First-Year Ex erience Building Community Through Mentorship
Faculty, staff and students work together to greet First-Year students and ease their transition into the Holy Family community. This year the team event was the "INCREDIBLE RACE." The orientation groups completed five timed events using a specific number of members from the class. The events ranged from rolling a bed using PVC pipes to finding a clue in shaving cream. The Owenators reigned supreme and won in 12 minutes and 27 seconds.

Senior's message... Looking through the 2005 Familogue has led you to the very last page. I hope that you have enjoyed this first colored edition of the yearbook. The highlights and memories captured in the pictures reflect the time spent at Holy Family during the 2004-2005 academic year. I would like to express my gratitude to Mike McNulty-Bobholz for moderating Familogue. To the Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors: Congratulations on completing another year at Holy Family University. Embrace and celebrate your time here by learning, growing and sharing the best years of your
life —. as college is meant to be. To the Seniors: Our journey through Holy Family has come to an end. However, graduation should often be viewed as the beginning of the "real world" journey. So let's go forth with enthusiasm, optimism; and may our ambitions, talents, and dreams lead us in new directions! Best
of luck Class of 2005!
Ania Pawliszewska'05 Editor
May the good Lord be with you Down every road you roam And may sunshine and happi ness Surround you when you 're far from home And may you grow to be proud Dignified and true And do unto others As you 'd have done to you Be courageous and be brave And in my heart you 'll always stay Forever young, forever young - Rod Stewart, "Forever Young"
