Sports news Well done to Cara Terry who was selected to run for Berkshire U15 girls team at the UK inter-county cross country.
U12A and U13A netball teams both beat LVS at home this week with 2 very good performances. Well Done Girls!
Straight back to Hockey for both the U15’s and U14’s this week, lots more to look forward to this term! Year 9 Boarders’ Bronze DofE Baking Skills club The 12-week baking program is drawing to a close. Our students have learnt to bake 12 delicious tea-time treats. This week they made chocolate-chip oaty ‘Hobnobs’, which they delivered around the school for staff and students to taste. I am really proud of how well this group have developed their baking skills, and the generous spirit they have fostered along the way. Mrs Belbin

The Art department would be very grateful to receive donations of the following objects for students to draw: Old cassettes Any 'Retro Objects' Lego men Toy cars Interesting Boxes, (wooden or thick card present boxes) (for creating paintings/ displays inside). Anything bird related Small toys or models of buildings (Similar to the ceramic Tetley Tea ones) Shiny Tea pots/ metal objects with reflections. Battery operated candles Rubix cubes If you can help please ask get your son/daughter to drop them to the Art Rooms or label them in a bag for art and leave in Reception. Visiting speaker programme Next week’s speaker is an entrepreneur working in the beverage industry entitled “Breaking into the big supermarkets. How does a South African come to sell Cider in the UK?”. His cider was awarded Supreme Champion International Cider Challenge, as well as gold for Design and Packaging and bronze for Flavour. He makes a unique, all natural product using 100% fresh-pressed juice, no added sugar or concentrates, using only apples such as Granny Smith and Pink Ladies.

Wednesday January 30th: Julia Pearce. Life in Investment Banking and the City of London. What’s a career in finance like? What are the particular challenges facing women?
Wednesday February 6th: Jane Lunnon. Girls Day School Trust. Is there a future for single-sex education in the UK? + Feminism in an age of #MeToo. Wednesday February 13th: Jamie Cameron. Research Assistant, Oxford Internet Institute. What challenges and opportunities are thrown up by the internet? We’ll be discussing social media, online dating, artificial intelligence and more... Wednesday February 27th: Dave Leal, Brasenose College, Oxford. A hands-on session to make your brain explode from a top Oxford philosopher! Wednesday 6th March: Wayne Dixon, Christian Connections in Schools. Faith in an Age of Reason. What does it mean to be a Christian in the 21st century? Wednesday 13th March: Manvir Singh, Sikh Chaplaincy. Faith in an Age of Reason continued! What does it mean to be a Sikh in the 21st century? Thursday 21st March: Adam Afriyie, MP for Windsor. 8 days and counting before Brexit! Who knows where we’ll be!

Introducing ... Mr Frank Hardee Frank Hardee has joined the Holyport staff from the start of this term as the school’s University Guidance Counsellor and our first ever Eton Relationship Manager. He will also be taking over the Politics teaching and supporting Mrs Cornell in the Economics department too. Mr Hardee studied PPE at Oxford University and has taught at a number of high profile schools including Cranleigh in Surrey. He is no stranger to new start-up schools having worked at NLCS Jeju (South Korea) from its inception and was Marlborough College Malaysia’s first ever Head of University Guidance. He comes to Holyport with bags of enthusiasm and is excited to be coming on board to support the Sixth Form Leadership team. Outside of the school matters, Mr Hardee is a keen traveller, having been to over 75 countries worldwide, and he worked on the 2008 Obama Election campaign. We very much look forward to having Frank as part of the team.

Important Concerned members of the community have noted that students walking to or cycling to the College in the dark are not very visible. If your son or daughter walks or cycles please will you ensure that they are wearing high vis clothing or a chest strap which are readily available from sports or cycle shops.
