NEW MARBELLA DESIGN EXHIBITION

PLANNED FOR THIS AUTUMN

Mallorcan-born Carolina Abril has worked in the hospitality and tourism industry for many years, and has organised several major events in her career. Now, she is in the throes of preparing the first edition of Design Week Marbella, scheduled to be held from 27 September to 3 October this year. We met up with her to get the exhibition lowdown…

What made you decide to organise your first project in Marbella? After working for many years in the trade fair and congress sector, I was asked to help organise an interior design event, but there were some fundamental flaws with the logistics so I decided to organise my own event. My aim is to help put Marbella on the map as a meeting point for professionals and interior design lovers, and I have formed a fantastic team to help me achieve this.

What especially attracted you to Marbella? Marbella is not only a magical place that has always made me feel very welcome, but it is also bursting with creative professionals at the top of their game. With the support of Marbella City Council and other institutions, this has made me feel even more confident to carry the project through to fruition. How has the health crisis affected the events sector? Obviously, it has been very difficult but the interior design, architecture and construction market is strong and seems to have bounced back faster than other sectors, so we are looking forward to a successful week.

What distinguishes Design Week Marbella from other exhibitions that you have managed? Design Week Marbella wants to offer visitors the possibility of being able to build a house from scratch through a careful selection of developers, architects, interior designers and other professionals in the sector. We want our visitors to feel inspired by offering them exceptional experiences and ideas.
