Living Rooms: artistic flair

LIVING ROOMS TO RELAX IN

When styling your living room, the size and shape of the space has to be carefully considered. Large furniture items and accessories can easily take over the room, making it feel cluttered and claustrophobic, if the space available hasn’t been well thought-out in terms of layout and design. The room should be easy to walk around, with good storage solutions and sufficient tabletop space for placing drinks, books, devices and the like as conveniently as possible. A statement furniture piece or accessory is an attractive way to bring focus and show some artistic flair, such as a striking armchair, rug or pouf. Modular sofas are useful if you entertain guests, as the seating can be moved around to suit the moment. Many contemporary brands have brought out low-sitting block-like sofas and armchairs which have soft edges that invite you to relax – offering more casual lounging. This area of your home should reflect your personality, so individual touches such as a beloved piece of artwork on the wall or a small collection of your favourite books on the coffee table are just some of the easy ways to bring character into the room. Plants and/or freshly-cut flowers immediately make the space feel homely, and inject a natural accent and calming feel when you enter the space.
