HOME AGAIN

Originally a model, the interior design of this gorgeous home in Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club was well underway when it was snapped up faster than the paint could dry. Interior designers Caroline Ficquette and Raquel Bloam of Design West didn’t even break stride, but rather met with the new owners and created the ideal design scheme just for them. “The new owners were easy-going and relaxed and really didn’t want to change much,” says Ficquette. u

Chalkwhite cabinetry has brushed nickel pulls, and the stainless steel hood is a redux of the one they had in their previous home. Right: The fireplace wall was created from oversize porcelain slabs to achieve a back-to-back fluid pattern not corrupted by grout. This product was supplied by Modern Tile & Carpet and put together like an intricate jigsaw puzzle around a hearth.

The residential designer Greg Weber, and interior designers Caroline Ficquette and Raquel Bloam concentrated on updating lines, keeping the design clean, and using materials found in nature. Making a statement to highlight the architectural features of the home was important to the designers, but they wanted to evoke a feeling of warmth. White oak flooring from Modern Tile & Carpet and a wool-blend rug help achieve the desired effect in the great room. 184

Above: “The clients wanted to turn the study into an air conditioned wine room,” says Ficquette. “They are passionate about wine, and have an extensive collection.” For drama and interest, the Design West team created a beautiful feature wall in the back of the room to demand attention upon entry. To bring the vision to life, Design Studio by Raymond constructed cabinets with chevron-shaped shelving surrounded by vertical stacked marble from Modern Tile & Carpet.

“This home presented a beautiful canvas and had great bones,” says Ficquette. Bloam

to accommodate the owners’ beloved chihuahuas. “The owners were afraid they would make short work of some of our previous selections,” Ficquette laughingly recalls. The designers also made use of the lovely view over the community’s sparkling lake as a main component in their design, creating a linear vantage point in the great room, for example.

adds, “We also do lots of research when we design a home and try always to stay on the cutting-edge. We don’t want our clients’ home to look like anyone else’s.” Residential designer Greg Weber of South Florida Designs also enjoyed the project. This was largely due to the fact that, after working more than 20 years with the builder, everything ran as smooth as silk. u

Above: This powder bath proves that high impact doesn’t require bold color. The 2-by-6 Glazzio London Fog tiles from Modern Tile & Carpet provide a glamorous backdrop to a silver leaf driftwood mirror. Pendant sconces from Arteriors add a touch of industrial hardness and offset the soft gray patterned wallcovering from Fabricut. A white quartz countertop with a Kohler Camber vessel sink from Ferguson, Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery sits on a floating cabinet. Right: “As the couple travels frequently, we added some homey comforts, like a deep shag rug in their bedroom,” says Ficquette. Individual channel-tufted panels of ivory vegan leather on the master bedroom’s headboard wall bring a sophisticated feature to this room’s design. The custom Vanguard bed incorporates upholstered side rails made of the same vegan leather.

Though it looks as though its components are separate, it is actually one piece with white plaster legs supporting a cerused wood drawer with a hidden recess.

his hand-drawn conceptual floor plan. Once the floor plan was finalized, we provided the exterior elevation design, detailed working drawings for construction, and colored renderings for the marketing materials,” says

“This home was designed for someone who enjoys the resort-like lifestyle available at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club,” says Alan Foster of DIVCO Custom Homes. “Though the new owners already owned a home in the community, they wanted to step up, not just in square footage, but in how their new home was arranged.” u

“We then take the time during the process to work back and forth, fine-tuning all the details until we perfect the plan,” Weber continues. “We are very thorough and detail-oriented, and between us we have a clear understanding before starting any project of the needs and desires, any special features or characteristics, as well as the budget, in order to create a dream home.” In this instance, the four-bedroom plus bonus room, four full bath and two half-bath home with 5,384 square feet under air met the clients’ expectations perfectly. “Working closely with the homeowners, the builder, and the very helpful team at Modern Tile & Carpet, we were able to bring our education, experience, and talents to bear. We created the perfect home for our clients and had a great time doing so,” Ficquette concludes. n

The outdoor kitchen features a Wolf grill and appliance package from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. Right: To scale the vast space of the outdoor living area, the designers created “floating cloud” ceiling details. They framed and stuccoed the “clouds,” applied wood stain around the vertical edges, and added lighting, which illuminates the tray ceiling. A stacked stone fireplace and columns uses the same stone as at the home’s entrance. Ficquette and Bloam selected seating from Summer Classics to complete the chat area and outdoor living room.
