GRACEFULLY distinguished

A HOME SPEAKS TO THE HEART OF OLD NAPLES HOME & DESIGN 2017 V2

On a mahogany-lined street in one of Naples’ most significant neighborhoods lives a home fashioned with attention to exceptional style and an exuberant, yet sophisticated personality. Such a home found its niche on a premium lot in the heart of Old Naples, just six houses from the beach and a pleasant stroll to the amenities of 5th Avenue South. This classic Floridian-style home with five-bedrooms plus study, encompasses 6,213 square feet of impeccably designed, and artfully appointed space, with plenty of outdoor living areas. This home’s genesis began with VIV Homes, a boutique residential property development company committed to truly bespoke creations. Members of the VIV team nurture every detail, hand-selecting each finish, and creating one-of-a-kind homes. “The home maintains the graciousness of the street,” says architect Jorge Hernandez. “It invokes a sense of architecture which is relaxed and elegant. In my work, I usually fuse a sense of time and knowledge of history with the requirements of contemporary life and materials.” “When you walk in the house, you can feel that it’s different from other houses,” says Paul Stanton, VIV Homes exclusive builder, commenting on the construction quality. “It feels strong and solid. It’s quiet.” Every room in this home is generous in size and scale, and each detail accentuates the architecture by creating light and space. In appointing the interior, VIV Homes designer Melissa Raucci captures the home’s essence with a framework of inorganic symmetry in metals, glass, and light, all dressed in nature’s softer dynamic. “I like things which are one with nature and make a soft impression for a subtle moment,” explains Raucci.

Right: As one enters the home through the mahogany door, a pierced-resin Luna Bowl Chandelier from Oly Studios sets an elegant tone. Legno Bastone Wide Plank Flooring in European white oak in a Giuseppina finish, along with a blank canvas of neutrals, allows blue accents to complement the room’s silver, brass, and champagne metallic finishes. An oversized tufted ottoman, inset with custom glass, draws guests into the comfortable living room. Two sofas are flanked by whitewashed Beachwood side tables with mother-ofpearl hardware. Chairs echoing the kitchen caging and cabinetry create a seamless transition of space. Burlap stools accented with natural rope provide additional seating.

Above: Ethereal light from the tapered chandelier sparkles against the flat, earthy finish of a customcut jute rug in honey tones and the Legno Bastone Wide Plank Flooring from Naples Flooring. Custom slipper chairs with white chambray denim and burlap covers surround the table. A large gilded mirror over a buffet with brass underpinnings creates a window in the space. Warm gold tones of Phillip Jeffries grass cloth accent the dining room and the inset wall which houses a double Sub-Zero wine cooler. “It’s reminiscent of dining al fresco when you open up all the sliders and bring in the outdoors,” says Raucci.

Left: The kitchen maintains a rich environment designed to stand the test of time. Substantial Hudson Valley Wellington fixtures provide functional task lighting over the island. Creamy-suede backless stools with polished nickel caging nestle beneath the marble waterfall island in Mystery White from Rain Forest Marble. Gray tones of quartz top the perimeter-area counters, finished with a variegated marble herringbone pattern in the backsplash. Bold, polished nickel hardware accents the bespoke cabinetry and pairs with the Sub-Zero fridge and freezer, Wolf 48-inch gas range and wall oven, and a pair of Bosch dishwashers from Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. A separate walk-in pantry with a Miele coffee station and partner desk complement the gourmet kitchen.

Above: Carrera marble in a weave pattern from Rain Forest Marble accents the master bath wall, adding a dimensionality that continues into the shower and water closet. A full run of beveled mirror opens the room and reflects light in this sun-washed space. A freestanding Kohler bathtub invites a luxurious experience.

Opposite: “With its own volumetric silhouette, the master bedroom very much feels like you’re sleeping in a garden pavilion,” says Hernandez. Located on the first floor, the room features French doors that open southward, blurring the lines between interior living space and an exterior garden. The Diva Opal White chandelier from Regina Andrew Design casts a glow over the chrome canopy bed. Mirrored bedside chests and a white Mongolian fur bench with acrylic Lucite legs accentuate the weightlessness in the room. “The space captures a warm, timeless moment. I wanted everything to feel like it was floating,” explains Raucci.

Above: The second-floor en suite bedrooms all grant access to a terrace that spans the home’s width, capturing the spirit of a boutique hotel. In this room, fuchsia Moroccan poufs provide a splash of color. Linen and leather appoints the shelter bed. A pair of framed gilded botanicals flank either side of the headboard, repeating the juxtaposition of organic curves and metallic finishes throughout the home.

Opposite: The study offers a positive vibe with crisp, feminine edges. Shadows from the abstract 20thcentury gold-pipe chandelier create an air of intrigue. The attention to dramatic lighting throughout the home illuminates a vignette in each space. To Raucci, lighting conveys energy and creates a dynamic flow and aesthetic.

Above: A stunning outdoor living space completes the property with flawless transition from inside to out. “When the doors open, the house becomes the garden,” says Hernandez. Automated screens and shutters protect the large covered lanai which includes a full outdoor kitchen with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. Frette and Pratesi linens dress the cerused oak table with encased scallop shells and stainless steel legs. A cypress, tongue-and-groove ceiling provides warmth overhead.

Opposite: The home’s design and configuration on a generous lot takes into account a healthy amount of greenspace. Whether lounging on the pool’s Baja shelf, or enjoying family and friends around the fire pit, the home is designed to take full advantage of the outdoors. “It all feels warm and inviting,” says Raucci of the final creation. “We drill down until we create an absolutely perfect, harmonious environment. It’s resort-style living.”
