RUGS AS ART Monochromatic tones of gray accented by subtle pops of blue lend this amazing rug a timeless elegance. Hand-knotted in India with hand-carded and handspun wool, the functional design features an intricate all-over pattern with weathered effects to lend a new spin to traditional motifs. Certainly a conversation starter, this beautiful masterpiece will create a setting of sophistication in any room. Courtesy of Rugs As Art | rugsasart.com

BEGINNING TO END INTERIORS & BLINDS Interior designers Alan and Stan of Beginning To End Interiors & Blinds chose a contemporary look for their personal kitchen remodel. The modern design has a minimalistic palette with clean lines and neutral tones, with the exception of the large kitchen island’s fabulous blue finish. A medium-scale geometric tile backsplash and the high-gloss finish on the upper cabinets create dimension in this smaller, yet spacious-feeling kitchen. TRINITY CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN Trinity Construction & Design Owner Michael Cocozza’s favorite aspect of this recent remodel is definitely its staircase. The unique and eye-catching design was finalized after drawing several mock-ups and construction methods played an integral role in the final design. “It was a part of the project that allowed me to get my hands dirty, and I really enjoyed collaborating with the entire team to make it come to life,” says Cocozza. His other favorite aspect was the guest suite’s bathroom, which has floor-toceiling tile in a concrete-like finish. A walnut vanity, similar to the walnut used on the stairs and the kitchen island, ties this space in with the rest of the home. “Walnut is, hands down, one of my favorite species of wood,” Cocozza continues, “It has so many beautiful characteristics to it.” Focusing on quality, relationships, communication, and transparency, the team at Trinity Construction & Design believes the home building and renovation process should be an enjoyable experience. CHIC ON THE CHEAP The kitchen in this waterfront home on Siesta Key was dated and closed off from the main living area prior to the remodel. Elegant rift-cut oak cabinets were installed with a graphic-patterned cement tile backsplash in a soft-blue hue, reminiscent of the ocean. Modern pendant lights from Light Up Your Life elevate the updated style, and the charming dining area, complete with a tulip-style table, has a builtin bench to maximize seating space. DISTINCTIVE INTERIORS Located in Lakewood Ranch, the Monterey Model is one of Distinctive Interiors’ latest designs. The style inspiration is modern, casual, and coastal. Natural elements such as Capiz shell and driftwood are utilized in the lighting and furnishings to reinforce the organic, coastal aesthetic. Soft neutrals are accentuated with pops of green and blue, inspired by pieces of sea glass you could find on the beach. The living room is anchored by a driftwood coffee table. Soft aqua and blue hues make up the accent pillows and area rug. An inviting oversized sectional surrounds the living space and maximizes seating. “We decided to utilize a soft neutral palette and provide color throughout the home in our selections of accessories, artwork, and fabrics,” says Stephanie Nolan, owner of Distinctive Interiors. A natural Capiz shell chandelier is the focal point of the dining room. Upholstered dining chairs, in a neutral fabric, provide seating around a natural wood-and-chrome dining table. An aqua rug coordinates with colored sea glass place settings. A gleaming white kitchen, with oversized subway tile and quartz countertops, has touches of polished nickel and stainless steel. The oversized window’s aqua and gray geometric Roman shades provide plenty of daylight for the cheerful space. NWC CONSTRUCTION Situated on the corner of a waterfront street in the coveted neighborhood of Sarasota’s Bird Key, the original home had strong bones and great sight lines. The owner sought to reimagine the interiors in a more contemporary style, complimenting the owner’s eclectic art collection. The spaces are opened inward toward each other, and outwards towards the dramatic views. Large format, concrete-look porcelain tiles blend them together. A tall walnut-stained front door welcomes guests into the living room, which has a broad custom concrete fireplace surround with tapering edges. A soaring walnut paneled over-mantle complements the ceiling detail. A broad threshold overlooks the dining area, with the family room just beyond. A large, open kitchen takes center stage, with dramatic walnut and lacquer finishes. An elegant stairway, with a center stringer and wood block treads, leads to the upstairs guest suites. Beside the family room, a custom concrete bar top, with waterfall and tapering details, provides ample space for relaxation and play. TALON HOME BUILDERS There are a lot of moving parts to remediating a property after water damage occurs. The logistics are very different from new construction and having the right team of professionals is key to a positive experience. In addition to being a Certified General Contractor and Roofing Contractor, Talon Home Builders is also licensed in mold remediation and certified in water and fire damage. Following water damage to the master suite, we began this renovation by very carefully removing all the interior contents of the home to be safely stored during the construction phase. Once the space was cleared of furnishings, all of the damaged materials–baseboards, wood floors, drywall, cabinets, closet systems, countertops, and plumbing fixtures–were stripped away. The wood flooring and sub-floor were replaced, as was the drywall and custom baseboards. Once the repairs were complete, fresh paint was applied to both the walls and ceiling. The silver lining to this terrible situation was the home’s resultant updated foyer and staircase. An intricate, custom basketweave wood design and tile inlay creates a lattice-like pattern on the floor in this stunning foyer. The staircase’s original railing was removed so that the treads could be refinished to match the new wood flooring, and the existing tile risers were replaced with an updated subway-style glass tile design to match the updated fireplace. Talon Home Builders values building strong relationships with our customers. We love our industry and we feel honored to be providing our services to the Sarasota community. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your project with you, regardless of its size, complexity, or location.
