DO I OWN MY BUSINESS?

Yes! Franchises are individually owned and operated. Most business owners find it more expedient to use a proven operating system, doing business under a unified brand, and being part of a bigger whole. Owning and operating a franchise is being in business for yourself but not by yourself.

DOES A FRANCHISE ENSURE SUCCESS?

No. Like any business, success depends on hard work and a dedicated owner. Generally franchisees are more likely to be successful over independent business start-ups. It stands to reason that the chances of success are higher replicating a proven model with a established track record than starting from scratch with an unproven operational model.

Hours are basically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., five days a week. Of course there will be a lot of fun after-hour networking events you’ll want to participate in.

DO I HAVE TO BUY FROM YOU?

A substantial benefit of joining our system is the buying power we have as a group. Our vendors have proven their ability to deliver the quality we demand and provide us with volume pricing. We do not mark up printing so each franchisee enjoys the absolute best pricing.




DO I HAVE TO BE A GRAPHIC DESIGNER?

No. A working knowledge of graphic design is very helpful, but you will do no graphic design or physical production of Home & Design®. Ads are submitted camera ready either by an ad agency or a client’s graphic design professional. If one of your clients doesn’t have a designer, you will have one or two in your market you can recommend. The editorial pages and the entire magazine can be produced through our corporate production facility, further saving you time and money.

ISN’T EVERYONE FOCUSED ON THE INTERNET?

Everyone knows the internet is important. It’s a multi-channel world and the internet is obviously one of those channels. But in reality most companies don’t have the resources to compete against major players online – they don’t have content to attract followers; they don’t have the means to effectively market; and they just don’t understand the realities of SEO. Everything that is printed in Home & Design® is replicated multiple times on our website and in our social media. Beyond marketing and advanced optimization of our site, we have the unique advantage of our magazines to drive traffic. Advertisers get far more internet exposure by advertising with Home & Design® than they ever could on their own.

WHERE CAN I BUY A COPY?

Home & Design® is available on newsstands around the world. We are able to leverage this international exposure to reach more potential clients for your advertisers. Every newsstand copy promotes our individual editions, our website, and our social media.

WHAT IS NETWORK SYNERGY?

You will become part of a success-minded team of publishing professionals. There are multiple opportunities to glean ideas and best practices from corporate support and the group in general. From networking events and forums sponsored by the franchisor, you will develop personal relationships with others that have your same objective – building a successful Home & Design® business.

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DO I GET?

Initial training at our corporate headquarters covers all aspects of launching and running your own successful Home & Design® business. We also have field support that will come to your local market periodically. Since we prefer to work with successful advertising sales executives with proven track records, training and support is focused on marketing, growing your business, and system proficiency.

DO I GET ON-GOING SUPPORT?

You never have to go it alone. Corporate provides all the support necessary for you to successfully run your own business. Ongoing support includes training, business development, collateral materials, and best business practices.


HOW EXPENSIVE IS ALL THIS?

Unlike other businesses, Home & Design® doesn’t require an office, expensive equipment, extensive marketing, or a huge payroll to get started. Your initial franchise fee covers all the start-up materials you need to launch your first edition. The goal is to be profitable your first issue, but good business practices states you should have one year’s personal expenses available.

WHAT IS A ROYALTY?

When you purchase a franchise, the franchisor charges a fee or royalty for the continued use their name, proprietary systems, vendor network, training, support, etc. Royalties are ongoing and different from the initial franchise fee. Our royalty is 7.5% of advertising based on your market’s rates.

WHAT IS A REVERSE ROYALTY?

As the Home & Design® franchise network grows, national advertisers will want regional and national exposure. Every ad sold to national clients that appears in your magazine will earn you the same royalty you are paying for ads you sell.
