You may have noticed symbols trailing behind company names in this event guide. They represent a professional designation from the National Association of Home Builders. They say a lot about a builder, remodeler or building industry associate. Professional designations offer opportunities for Home Builders Association of F-M members to improve skills, advance their careers and be recognized for commitment to professional growth. What do they mean?

Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist ......................................................... CAPS Teaches the technical, business management and customer service skills essential to competing in the aging-in-place market.

Certified Graduate Builder CGB Emphasizes business and project management skills critical to a successful homebuilding operation.

Certified Green Professional ........................................................................... CGP

Teaches builders, remodelers and other industry professionals techniques for incorporating green building principles into homes — without driving up construction cost.

Certified Graduate Remodeler CGR Emphasizes business management skills as related to a remodeling operation.

Certified Graduate Master Remodeler GMR

Held by a select group of building industry professionals: applicants must have at least 15 years of remodeling experience before they are even eligible to be considered for the designation.

Certified Graduate Master Builder GMB

For experienced veterans only: before beginning the GMB designation process, applicants must have the CGB designation or the CGR designation with five years of building experience, or 10 years of building experience and successful completion of three CGB/CGR courses.
