Moorhead’s Career Academy Is In Your Hands
On election day Nov. 5, there will be a Moorhead Public Schools’ bond referendum that, if approved, will not only improve the current high school but also allow renovation of the former Sam’s Club building to function as a Career Academy. Visit this site to learn more: www.moorheadschools.org/2019Bond/ This academy is a step in the right direction to provide opportunities for students to learn about and receive credits for technical and health careers. It’s one more way to help parents and students understand that there are many lucrative, fulfilling careers that do not require a four-year degree.
Local Multiple Listings Service Adds ‘Green’ Fields
Soon, the Fargo-Moorhead homebuilding and home-selling industries will be able to more effectively build, market and profit from performance-built homes constructed to national standards such as Energy Star, LEED and Indoor Air Plus. Currently, the local Multiple Listings Service lacks “green” fields to share information with buyers about energy-saving equipment, energy ratings or Energy Star certifications which can affect the value of a home. Larry Mayer, Solution Design, Inc., hopes these fields will become live in the system by Jan. 1 in our market. Everyone involved in the homebuilding and selling process will benefit from learning about the definitions to profit from these in-demand homes and communicate their features through the MLS. Involving the home buyer, builder, Realtor, lender and appraiser, the process is like a relay race. The size and feature requirements of the new home are: First entered into a pre-green addendum and final green addendum that Secondly, are used in the pre-appraisal and pre-loan underwriting reports that go into the loan file and, Finally, populate the MLS green fields for future comparables when property is sold. Join the HBA of F-M in learning about building high-performance homes and the entire process of utilizing the MLS green fields Jan. 28 during continuing education classes for building contractors. Visit www.hbafm.com. Click “Events,” and then “Calendar.” This MLS change was achieved through an effort of Solution Design Inc., HBA of F-M, Fargo-Moorhead Area Association of Realtors and the North Dakota Appraisal Association. Mayer is an energy engineer and has worked the past four years to bring awareness to the building and real estate community. He has secured financial support for educational classes from Cass County Electric Cooperative, Minnkota Power Cooperative, North Dakota Department of Commerce and Xcel Energy. He has also worked with the HBA of F-M and FMAAR to share information with their members.
