Keeping Calm with the Cox Family Team
It all started in 1985 when Pat Cox transformed from patient Kindergarten-1st grade teacher to a driven, local Realtor. By 1992 she was named #1 in her office, and placed in the top 1% nationwide- a height she’s stayed at ever since. Since 1999, the Cox Family team has grown in all the right ways. Her son, Kevin, joined over 10 years ago, bringing his corporate business background and psychology schooling to the often-emotional industry. Her son-in-law, Shiloh, joined a few years later after working for Apple, bringing an economics and technology expertise to the prosperous team. Pat’s daughter, Wendy, keeps the marketing efforts flowing, while her son, Cameron, adds a creative angle with his photography. “We all have our own sphere of business, but Pat had so much of her own that she was able to share it. And that’s still the case. She’s been thriving in this business since the early 80s,” says her team-member and son-in-law, Shiloh Hagen. It goes without saying the team harbors an impressive array of talent. So, they prioritize keeping the positivity and laughter flowing. “We try to make it fun and keep people laughing,” says Pat. “I’ve learned you always have to have a sense of humor, or else things can get stressful.” Known as ‘the calm-keeper,’ Pat has a knack for minimizing stress, making the selling process an enjoyable, smooth experience for all parties involved. “I used to be a Kindergarten teacher. That’s where I get my patience from,” she jokes. “I know how to calm people down and not take things personally, so each transaction ends up

Nearly 90% of the team’s business derives from repeat and referral clientele, illustrating the successful bonds they’ve built from the start. When it comes to new clientele, Pat lets things happen naturally, aligning people with Kevin, Shiloh or herself based on their needs and connection. With nearly 30 years of local real estate experience, Pat has also done her fair share of groundbreaking. After attending a staging seminar in 1986, she became one of the first local, Realtors to counsel clients on carpeting, painting, and landscaping updates before the staging process was normalized. Between Pat’s lengthy experience and her photographic memory for floor plans, the team harnesses a deep understanding of which updates offer the best return on investment. “When it comes to sellers I always say, ‘I’d rather hurt your feelings than your pocketbook,’” says Pat. With this in mind, the team knows what it takes to properly prepare a listing. Whether it’s one week, or 7 months, Pat, Kevin and Shiloh handle all the necessary changes, ensuring a property shines and aligns with buyers’ desires before a sign hits the lawn. This honest, consultative approach surfaces throughout their operation, paving the way for natural, long-term relationships. “I think we lose out on listings at times, because we are so honest and we don’t blow smoke. We give a honest opinion and an accurate range every time,” says Kevin. Taking care of everything from condos to castles, the Cox team brings their expertise to the entire San Ramon corridor, covering Walnut Creek to Pleasanton, Concord and Lafayette. When they’re not working, the team enjoys spending time with their families. Kevin has 2 children; Shiloh and Wendy have 3 kids who spend their free time outdoors, running on the Iron Horse Trail and riding bikes, scooters and skateboards. Pat, mother of 3, enjoys the close proximity to her 5 grandkids. When she’s not with the Cox clan you can find her unwinding on a yearly cruise vacation, relaxing with her husband of over 40 years.
