If you really want to make a move, consider placing your home on the market subject to finding a suitable replacement home. Once you have a buyer in contract, make the offer on your new home contingent on the close of escrow of your current home. This is usually much less stressful than finding your dream home first and then trying to find a buyer. Another option is to ask your buyer to allow you to remain in your home up to 60 days after escrow closes while you continue your home search. Whatever path you choose, be sure to work with an experienced agent that knows how to negotiate this type of transaction. A customized approach unique to your needs will make your move a joyful and exciting experience.
