You have to take a step back and be that calm in the storm. You have to look out for what’s best for your client.” That sentiment isn’t just lip service. Lenzie has done everything from giving referrals to helping clients pack. She helps clients with the staging of their properties and getting everything just right from organization to adding in fresh scents. But her willingness to help clients extends far beyond the normal. “During the short sale crisis, a lot of my clients were at the end of their rope and asking what they should do financially in regards to their property,” Lenzie said. “Should they walk away? Should they short sale? I would try to counsel them so they could make an informed decision. In some cases, that meant I didn’t get paid. I walked people through a deed and lieu or foreclosure just so I knew they would be able to come out on the other end and get their lives back in order. That was important to me.” That kind of dedication and caring has allowed her to develop real relationships with her clients to the point where large amounts of her business comes from repeat customers and referrals. “When I was young, a lot of my clients were buying for the first time,” Lenzie said. “I work with people, not price or location. I grew with this city. I know all the areas.Twenty-nine years is a long time. I’ve had past client’s kids, and even their grandkids, come to me.” A big reason why is her desire to truly help her clients. But perhaps just as important is her history with Las Vegas and her knowledge that comes from nearly three decades of experience. “I think the experience of living through a market increase and a market decline has helped,” Lenzie said. “No market is ever going to stay stagnant. You have to be flexible and flow with the market changes.” Through the ups and downs of the Las Vegas market, Lenzie has remained a fixture in the real estate world, giving clients peace of mind that she isn’t going anywhere, even in the tough times. “I’ve had the same phone number for 28 years,” Lenzie said, “having consistency is key. This is a business, you have to run it like a business, be on top of everything and be organized. It makes a difference.” After 29 years in the real estate business, Lenzie isn’t going anywhere. In fact, the future may hold some exciting developments. “I have worked with a business partner for about the last 20 years,” Lenzie said. “We work really well together and we would love to build team of people who work like us and have the same work ethic.”
When Jody Lenzie, a real estate agent for RE/MAX Advantage, entered the real estate world, she was a young adult figuring out where she wanted to make her mark in the world. “I was young, I didn’t know what I wanted to do,” Lenzie said. “My mom was a realtor and she told me to go get my license.” That turned out to be a fortuitous decision and 29 years later, Lenzie has shown it’s not just her making her mark -- she’s helping to change people’s lives. “I just enjoy people,” Lenzie said. “I think that the most important thing for me is helping people. You can’t control what people think, but you have to understand how they think.
Lenzie has come a long way from those first days of getting her real estate license and working with her mom. But she’s grown into one of Las Vegas’ best real estate agents for nearly three decades -- one who is willing to go above and beyond to ensure her clients are OK, no matter what the financial cost to her.
