GiNNA ARNOLD-LAZAR:

Bringing Honorable Expertise to Transformative Times

ighly regarded among the Silicon Valley real estate community, Pacific Union Broker, Ginna Arnold-Lazar is far more than a top producer, she is an honorable woman with over 20 years of exceptional experience. “I have a reputation for doing the right thing and telling the truth. I’m very direct and I think people appreciate that,” says Ginna. With family sewn in law and real estate the native Californian grew up with a natural love for the industry and an intuitive liking for the contractual side of the business. After earning her degree in marketing and advertising, Ginna started her career, immediately finding her niche as a Realtor. Having lived in the Bay Area for the past 30 years, Ginna not only comes with in-depth knowledge of the entire Silicon Valley, but has also seen the region transition through multiple markets. “Having had first hand knowledge of our varying historical markets, I’ve learned all the tricks of the trade and nuances of our contracts,” she says. “As well as the different ‘area specific’ disclosures that need to go with a transaction packet…It’s an experiential knowledge base. It’s the superior game tactics that you can bring to the party.” Renowned for extending velvet glove service to each and every client, Ginna’s standard of care is paralleled by very few. Whether it’s calling attention to fine print in a property inspection, or upholding confidentiality, Ginna knows how to seamlessly protect her buyers and sellers. It’s this caliber of work that has led to her largely referralbased business. “I become so heavily invested in my clients and

their lives that I look at my work not as a simple transaction, but as a lifelong project to manage. It’s not just about getting them in or out of a house and walking away. It’s lifetime thing,” she says. Well respected in the Silicon Valley, Ginna’s relationships with Brokers and agents go a long way, especially because majority of her work consists of off-market listings. Ginna merges her relationship-based business with cutting edge technologies to give sellers the appropriate amount of exposure that leads to impressive sale prices without going public on the MLS. “Having positive relationships with people in the real estate community as well as the community at large is very important for off-market listings,” she says. “The thing is there is so much word of mouth that goes on in the off-listing world that it really it depends how long you’ve been in the industry and your relationship with other brokers.” Seasoned in her craft, Ginna prides herself on never-ending growth. She believes challenging herself on a regular basis keeps both her life and business moving in new directions, which consequently benefits her clientele. “In my life I try to do what’s right, be forward thinking, and confront situations that would normally scare other people away,” says Ginna. “I love to think, learn and get my head around new ideas and just devour life.” Comparatively passionate for Palo Alto and the surrounding Silicon Valley, Ginna finds it easy to thrive in a community that circulates such an endless flow of inventive thought and creative energy.

“The electricity you feel in the air is just unbelievable in [Palo Alto], and truly that’s the way it is in all areas of Silicon Valley,” she says. “Its a very transformative time. I like that. I always need to be at the top of my game.” When she’s not adding a new skill to her dance card, Ginna enjoys hiking, working out, showing her three horses, and supporting various community organizations, such as: One Million Lights, NCEFT, Menlo Charity Horse Show, Morrissey Compton Educational Center, Charles Armstrong School, and the Children’s Health Council. A proud mother of three, Ginna also enjoys spending time with her children. Her eldest, Claire, 25, has been in the family business for nearly five years, and will be getting her Realtor’s license in August. Ginna also has two 21 year-old twins, Will and Jane who attend college in Chicago and Southern California. Inspired by her local community, Ginna enjoys learning from those around her both in and outside of work. “This is an amazing area and place to be. I love intelligent people who are always thinking, growing and stretching; that’s what I try to do in real estate,” she says. “I learn every day I’m in Palo Alto. It’s wonderful.” By Kimberly Gomes, HomeFolio Media Writer

2014 Menlo Charity Horse Show

W

ith over 10,000 attendees, the annual Menlo Charity Horse Show not only garners the community, but also facilitates a meaningful way to give back to a worthy cause. This 6-day, award-winning show offers everything from graceful riding performances to an evening gala at the locally renowned Menlo Circus Club. Nearly all of the event’s proceeds support Vista Center, a Palo Alto-based rehabilitation service for the blind and visually impaired. “Last year’s show raised $400,000 for Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and over the last 27 years we’ve been able to give them close to 6 million dollars,” says Betsy Glikbarg, Chairman and co-founder of the Menlo Charity Horse Show. Founded in 1936, the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired offers vision evaluations, counseling, mobility training, and access to medical research for children, teens, and adults with low to no vision. The Menlo Charity Horse Show provides a sizeable chunk of the organization’s yearly budget, improving the lives of its 2,500 annual clients who strive for greater independence. “For someone being fully independent might mean taking BART to Oakland for concerts, and for someone else it might mean walking from their room to where meals are served in a nursing home,” says Pam Brandin, executive director of Vista Center. Entering its 44th year, the local horse show began with a simple mission to raise money to replace a leaky roof for the Menlo Circus Club barn. After doing so, Glikbarg and her determined cohort expanded their one-day show to two-days, bringing in 360 stalls for 70 horses. As the years passed, Betsy and her team garnered more funds, stretching the event to the exciting 6-day show it is today. “We are honored to be the recipient of numerous awards, one of which is the United

States Equestrian Federation Heritage Competition designation, which is quite an honor because, only 20 shows in the entire country have received it. The local event showcases many of the country’s top hunters and jumpers with classes running simultaneously in three separate rings each featuring a different discipline. Guests will enjoy watching over 400 horses and both professional and amateur riders compete for well a range of awards, while being judged on riding style, power, or speed depending on the discipline. Located at the Menlo Circus Club, one of the Bay Area’s most impressive riding facilities, visitors will enjoy a series of events in a stunning environment. Sponsors also have access to the Mountain Home Farm VIP tent filled with 98 contributors, ranging from fashion designers, Wealth Management, Retailers and local farms to name a few from this extensive and impressive roster. “Truly a local gem, the event also remains one of the few horse shows that returns such a high percentage of gross receipts to the charity, because it’s nearly 100% volunteer-driven,” notes Brandin. Widely popular among the mid-Peninsula’s equestrian community, the Menlo Charity Horse Show offers the perfect place to unwind and socialize amidst several days of summer sunshine. “Everything having to do with this horse show is special. I really love the fact that one of the top horse shows in the nation is right here in our neighborhood,” says Ginna Lazaar, Palo Alto Pacific Union Realtor and annual sponsor. “My daughters have shown there, and my kids grew up with those vendors. They say it takes a village to raise a child, well for us it took a series of horse shows.” While the event doesn’t kick off until the beginning of August, community members can support the cause by participating in the

upcoming pre-events. Stop by Ralph Lauren at the Stanford Shopping Center from Aug. 4-10 for exclusive access to antique jewelry from the designer’s Vintage Collection. Ralph Lauren will donate 15% of all sales to the Menlo Charity Horse Show. “The reason our show is so popular is certainly because it is a charity and it is run by volunteers. The Menlo Circus Club is only open to the public during this event. So, it’s a great time to enjoy this beautiful space and its new barn while supporting a wonderful charity. It’s a very special time,” says Glikbarg. By Kimberly Gomes, HomeFolio Media Writer

Where are House Prices Going! The West San Francisco Bay Area (West Bay) includes many communities with the most sought after and expensive housing in the Bay Area, if not the US. In Palo Alto, one of the more popular of these communities, the price of the average home in 1968 was 55% greater than the average price of a California home. By 2013 the difference had grown to over 400%! This suggests at least three questions: 1. Why is the West Bay out of sync with California and most of the US? 2. Why is West Bay housing so expensive? 3. Will the trend continue?

These and other important questions are considered in depth in “West Bay Home Prices: Shock & Awe. To request a copy of this commentary, contact Steve Pierce at spierce@zanemacgregor.com

RESULTS

HomeFolio is a marketing service developed to help local real estate professionals enhance how they communicate with their community, and generate superior results for their clients. We are a small, boutique marketing firm that works with a limited number of members in each market we serve. While we’re new to the Peninsula, we’ve been serving some of the Bay Area’s finest luxury communities since 2008. We count some of the bay’s most productive, and legendary Realtors as our clients, and the professionals you see in this premiere Peninsula issue are local top producers, and leaders in the industry.

Our clients expect results, and we deliver. HomeFolio uses proven online, and direct mail strategies similar to those employed by Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Victoria’s Secret, and Frontgate. Our readership is not left to chance. Every single one of our 46,000+ Peninsula recipients are on our list for a reason. Bay Area wide, our

targeted distribution reaches over 120,000 of the bay’s most affluent households. We have a “SMART” mailing list... We research, identify, and mail directly to qualified prospects... people who have demonstrated an interest in Peninsula real estate, including people who will be buying and/or selling locally, in the near future. In fact, we can reach nearly 100% of the people who will sell their home in the next few months, and over 50% of likely buyers for our markets. The ultimate result of our unique strategy is, we place our clients in front of more genuine, local real estate prospects than anyone else, thus dramatically increasing the results they enjoy.
