By Kimberly Gomes
Greg Celotti has spent the last 12 years building a notable reputation for his honest advice and breadth of transactional expertise. Ranked in the top 2% of realtors nationwide, he comes with a track record buyers and sellers can count on. Born and raised on the peninsula, Greg carries detailed market knowledge from Burlingame to Mountain View. This in depth knowledge, along with his 27 years of sales experience has enabled him to set neighborhood records with just about every listing he’s sold over the past two years. “We’re in a strong market, but you still have to do the right things to ensure you get the most for your home. I provide a comprehensive approach in preparing a home to make sure it shows at its best in a timely and cost effective manner,” says Greg. “I also use my negotiation skills and marketing expertise to put sellers in a position where they get more than they even dreamed of.” Prior to his real estate career, Greg spent 15 years in high tech and healthcare sales, which has proven especially effective when it comes to working with clients in this area and negotiating on their behalf. “The benefit of having sales experience in a corporate environment is you learn the essentials of working with people and having a plan of action to achieve their goals. I was also in sales management, so I have a good perspective from a team approach as well.” Greg’s business primarily derives from referrals, which hints at how often his steadfast preparation and attention to detail benefit his clientele. Known for providing thorough feedback, Greg helps his clients think ahead to ensure the move is a good long-term fit. “I always look out for my client’s best interest, so however long it takes or whatever the process is, they know they’ll get honest advice and from there they can make a decision that works best for them.” When it comes to preparing his listings, Greg has a knack for presenting exceptional properties that maximize the sale price. “I recently sold a home for a client who hadn’t done anything to the property in over 30 years. I put together a plan for a cosmetic
upgrade. In the end, we received 14 offers and the home sold for almost I always look out for my “client’s best interest, so $400,000 over asking! My clients however long it takes or were not only amazed at how the whatever the process is, home looked, but the price they they know they’ll get honest received.” advice and from there they Passionate about contributing to can make a decision that his community, Greg values helping works best for them. ” families attain a better quality of life in a region he’s confident they’ll enjoy. “I love this area. Having grown up here, I think it has so much to offer. I not only love the diversity of the people and opportunities, but also the access to the ocean, lakes, mountains, San Francisco and the Napa Valley,” says Greg. “I always feel good about finding a home for someone here, because I know they’re going to love it too.” Originally from San Mateo, Greg has raised his family in San Carlos. He is the proud father of two children, Katherine and Grant, both of whom attend St. Francis High School and has been married to his wife Julie for 20 years. Greg and his family are also regular volunteers and supporters of St. Charles School and Church, InnVision Shelter Network, and Menlo Park’s There With Care, an organization that provides fundamental assistance to families with children facing critical illnesses. When he’s not aiding clientele or his local community, Greg spends his free time waterskiing, snow skiing, hiking and cheering on the Giants at AT&T Park. InnVision Shelter Network is dedicated to helping homeless families and individuals return to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. www.ivsn.org
InnVision Shelter Network: Giving a Hand Up to the Homeless Community By Kimberly Gomes
In today’s economy, both the Peninsula and Silicon Valley are often thought of as hubs of opportunity. Yet, amidst that prosperity remains 26,000 homeless individuals, including families, and Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who struggle to keep up with the Bay Area’s living costs after falling on hard times. Fortunately, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are fortunate enough to have InnVision Shelter Network, a local nonprofit with 18 sites from Daly City to South San Jose that offer a hand up, instead up of a hand out. “It’s more than just a bed, a meal, and clean clothes. That would just treat the symptoms of becoming homeless. What we do is work with families and individuals to understand the root cause of their homelessness and focus on the areas where they need to fill in the gaps,” says Amy Wright, Vice President of Development for InnVision Shelter Network. Founded in 1973, the organization
18
helps homeless people regain permanent housing and selfsufficiency through life skills programs and community connections. Their therapeutic model known as “Beyond the Bed” is a combination of housing and supportive services. This large scope includes case management, education, health and wellness, financial literacy, resume building, and parenting workshops, along with job and housing search assistance. With wait lists up to 40 families and 70 individuals per night, InnVision Shelter Network has a committed group of clients who must participate in nightly classes, curfew, and alcohol and drug intolerance while living in the organization’s facilities. “It’s a dignified and respectful environment. We don’t pity or look down on our clients,” says Wright. “These are a small, micro communities working hard to return to selfsufficiency. They’re very focused, because they’re on their way back up and this is a critical step in that process.” As a result the average length of stay is only 150 days in comparison to the national average of 250. More importantly, the results last. In 2013, 90% of families who graduated from the transitional housing program returned to permanent housing, as well as 65% of individuals. “It’s a pretty rigorous program. We insist that our clients learn, participate, and take responsibility for their own progress,” says Wright. “We’re not religious. We’re not political. None of that matters here. We’re just people helping people.” InnVision Shelter Network’s on-site shelters always function at full capacity, housing 1,000 people each night. Despite their large demand, the nonprofit strives for effective, short-term stays rather than expanding their program to new cities. “Our focus is on maintaining a high rate of
success for the people that we are able to help and making the length of stay as short as possible without losing effectiveness.” That success partly derives from their heavy focus on education. While they offer children’s tutoring and adult life skill classes, InnVision Shelter Network also encourages clients to go back to school to qualify for higher income, removing them from the cycle of poverty. Yet, none of this would be possible without the region’s compassionate community. Grateful to its generous, steadfast contributors, InnVision Shelter Network counts on local residents for financial contributions, volunteering, and miscellaneous donations such as, clothing, cars, and computers. Positively received since its founding, local real estate companies like Alain Pinel Realtors have created special programs that systematically give a percentage of each transaction to the organization. “We all live here, and none of us want to see families and individuals homeless with nowhere to turn for help,” says Wright. “It’s about creating a quality community.” To donate or learn more about InnVision Shelter Network’s programs and volunteer opportunities, visit www.ivsn.org or contact Amy Wright at awright@ivsn.com 650.685.5880 ext. 132.
