Wealth is surging in today’s global economy. From the United States and the U.K. to India and China, the world’s affluence grew by 8.3% from 2013 to 2014, bringing global wealth to $263 trillion, according to the Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report. Mid-peninsula residents have witnessed this wealth first hand with record-high home prices spanning from Lamorinda to Silicon Valley. While cash buyers from China have become significant players in the midpeninsula real estate market, local wealth is also a heavy contender. Silicon Valley harbors 56 billionaires, and San Francisco houses 20 on its own. Not to mention the hundreds of millionaires between and beyond the two regions. In the Bay Area’s hub of technological innovation, many stock options have matured, enabling local residents to make cash offers on homes, as well. Realtors throughout Walnut Creek and Lamorinda have extended conciergelike service to high-end buyers seeking property in the Bay Area. Over the past two years the region has seen a large increase in non-US Buyers often coming in with all cash offers. “Believe it or not, the top four countries interested in San Francisco Bay Area real estate are: Canada, China, United Kingdom, and France.
