Caleb S. Cage was appointed as Chief of the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Advisor on July 6, 2015. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point, where, upon graduation in 2002, he was commissioned as a Field Artillery officer and was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division in Bamberg, Germany. During this period, he served as a company executive officer and later as a motorized rifle platoon leader in the city of Baqubah, Iraq. Caleb’s military career spanned five years and various positions, including Fire Direction Officer, Executive Officer, and Battery Commander. He also served a second yearlong tour in Iraq in 2006 as a Corps Information Operations battle captain in the Corps Joint Operations Center in Baghdad. Upon separating from the Army, Cage began his civilian career as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, where he developed and managed several successful outreach initiatives aimed at serving Nevada’s veterans. In 2010, he was appointed to serve as Executive Director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services (NOVS), a cabinet-level agency responsible for serving veterans through two state veteran cemeteries, a comprehensive veterans service officer program, and 180-bed long term care skilled nursing facility. In addition to these efforts, Cage also established Nevada’s Green Zone Initiative, an effort to improve outcomes for veterans through policy development, service provider coordination, and outreach. Prior to joining DEM, Cage served as the Director of Military and Veterans Policy in the Office of Governor Brian Sandoval.

RYLA is Accepting Applications The RYLA committee is currently accepting applications for participants to the Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly (RYLA) to be held this summer in Grizzly Ranch by Portola. It is a weeklong camp in which campers will learn skills including leadership, teamwork, communication and self-awareness. Participants must currently be a junior in high school.

In addition to Reno High School, other high schools will be considered. We encourage students who are related to our club members to apply. Please contact Tom Taelour for more information 7714008 or ttaelour@charter.net. Applications will be accepted until February 25.

Kirk Bailey Kirk Bailey grew up in Walnut Creek, and attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA, where he majored in Communication, with an emphasis on Public Relations, and business marketing. After college, he lived in Santa Cruz & Capitola for a while before relocating to Northern Nevada where he has deep family roots.

Kirk joined our club in 2001, sponsored by Skip Hansen, and Harvey Fennell. He comes from a long line of Rotarians…his father was an active Rotarian, and his great-grandfather was President of the Rotary Club of Reno in 1932.

He is currently the owner of Impress Publishing, and HomeFolio Media, both marketing companies in the bay area that provide direct-mail marketing, blogging services, digital marketing and social media strategies for clients in an effort to provide maximum exposure across a variety of media platforms.

He currently published 5 real estate magazines in some of the most affluent housing markets in the bay area, three of them in the Silicon Valley.

Since 2001, Kirk has always been active in Rotary. While living in the bay area, he belonged to the Rotary Club of Danville, and the Danville/Sycamore Rotary Club. He has served this club in a variety of ways. He chaired the silent auction for Mardi Gras one year, was Program Chair in 2010-11, and in 2006, traveled to Ghana, Africa for Polio Plus to inoculate children for Polio, and measles.

Kirk enjoys parenting his two teenage kids full-time, traveling, Bikram Yoga, skiing, and spending as much time as possible boating on Tahoe in the summer.

Tina Doherty Tina Doherty was born in Tucson, AZ. Growing up in a military family, she lived in many states throughout the western U.S., eventually settling in Sparks after graduating from the University of Nevada with a degree in education. She taught 4th grade for two years before a career shift into the hotel industry. Twenty years and several positions later, she still loves the excitement and unpredictable nature of hotel sales!

Tina and her husband, Will, have two children and the family enjoys many outdoor activities in all seasons. When they aren’t in the great outdoors, her family joins her in many volunteer opportunities from community clean-up days to serving meals to the hungry and homeless. She has been a mentor to a high school student, guiding her on a path to graduation and college acceptance.

A Rotarian since January 2012, Tina has served as the Holiday Party Committee Chair, currently is a member of the Most Improved Student Event committee, and participates in as many Rotary activities as time permits. Additionally, she is a member of the Advisory Board for Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, sitting on the Advancement Committee for the last two years.

Community outreach and involvement is important and integral in both her professional and personal life. She is passionate and proud to be a contributing member of the rich pageant of life we enjoy in the Reno/Sparks area.

Perry Faigin “Rotary has provided me an avenue to show my family the meaning of volunteerism and community service. It is my hope to contribute to the future of Reno Rotary, continue to develop and build on the leadership skills I have by being a part of the board.”

Perry moved to the Reno/Sparks area in 1971, graduated Reed High School in 1979. In 1993 Perry decided to join the military on a whim, and served for 8 years in the Naval Reserves as a Supply Storekeeper with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 18 out of Fort Lewis, WA. As part of NMCB 18 this offered him the opportunity to travel the world and serve his country. During this time Perry received two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as two letters of Commendation and the coveted Battle “E” award for unit preparedness. Perry has a heart for helping Veteran’s and is the current Vice-President of the Veteran’s Association of Real Estate Professionals, VAREP. This non-profit helps local vets to learn about Homeownership, Financial Education and VA Benefits.

In 1998 Perry was offered the opportunity to join a financial services company to learn the Mortgage Lending business. Since then he has worked as a Loan Officer, Manager and Regional Manager for most of the major lenders in the industry, His current role is as a Mortgage Loan Officer with Umpqua Bank.

Perry joined the Club in April of 2012, and is currently serving as a reader for the Lemelson STEM Academy reading program.

Perry has also served on the Christmas Party Committee as well as volunteered with the Nevada Food Bank, Air Race Parking and the Corazon House building project in April of 2014, where both of his daughters helped as well. Perry’s daughter Sierra also was part of the RYLA program in her junior year, she has since continued volunteering occasionally and hopes to take part in RYLA as a camp counselor. Perry lives in Sparks NV with his Wife Ruth and three children Sierra, Hailey and Caleb.

Trudy is currently president of Sierra Field Services, Inc. and The Great Western Marketplace.

She has lived and been in business here in Reno for the past twenty-five years.

An active member of the Reno Rotary Club, Phillip M. Stone has served for the past several years on the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee as a liaison between the RYE Program and the Washoe County School District. He became involved in the RYE Program when his daughter Camille participated as an outbound youth exchange student. He also serves as the Committee’s Alternative Responsible Officer of the Exchange Visitor Information System with the United States Secretary of State in connection with obtaining VISAs for the exchange students.

Sierra Field Services Inc. is a mortgage servicing business that contracts with the servicing division of multiple banks and mortgage companies to inspect loan and mortgage assets and evaluates and provides condition reports for them in 12 states. In addition, she also owned and managed a Real Estate / Property Management brokerage in Central Florida that oversaw multiple shopping centers and office buildings. Her company also furnished corporate housing that she personally developed and marketed to both international and domestic investor clients. Trudy also was a Fannie Mae foreclosure broker where she managed, marketed and rehabbed hundreds of residential and commercial foreclosed properties.

Trudy is also the owner of The Great Western Marketplace which happens to be Northern Nevada’s newest business incubator. She purchased and rehabbed the former Kmart building in to a 167,000 sq. ft. space and repurposed to create a unique atmosphere for our newest small diversified / startup companies. The Marketplace has now been open for one year and with approximately 90 stores spaces leased to include a wine bar, several restaurants and multiple and diversified new businesses.

She has served on the Christmas party committee, Mardi Gras Silent Auction and Food Committee and the Weekly Club Meeting Assignments. She states that her experience with Rotary has been very fulfilling. Although the last two years have been extremely busy committing most of my time to her businesses. She is now at a point where she can return some of the energy to Rotary. There is much to do and she would like to make room for new members and ideas.

Phillip is an Air Force veteran who’s been in private practice as an attorney in the Reno/Tahoe area since 1984. His work focuses on civil litigation. He has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts, as well as at the appellate level.

He’s a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Washoe County Bar Association, and the Nevada Justice Association, where he is a past member of the Board of Governors. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Sierra Nevada Cable Access Television.

Phillip is married to Emily Stone, an account executive with KTVN. His son Jason is an Army combat veteran who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and was an Arabic language specialist for the 5th Special Forces Group. His daughter Laura, an award-winning makeup artist, owns and operates LA di DA Beauty in Reno. His daughter Camille is currently a junior at USC. His son Sam just finished traveling abroad for six months with his new bride, and they currently live in Brooklyn. Phillip obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of the Pacific and attended law school at the University of Puget Sound. He has lived in Reno since 1984.

How To Introduce Your Guests And New Members At A Club Meeting

When introducing a guest or new members during a Club meeting, the correct way is to greet the Club President, fellow Rotarians and guests, introduce yourself and state your classification, and then introduce your guest, their title and business affiliation. Please do not introduce any guest as a prospective new member or that they are looking for a position or clients.

How to Pay your Rotary Invoice When paying your Rotary invoice, you have a couple of very easy options: 1. You can pay with a credit card through Clubrunner. Login to your Clubrunner account. From the Member Area, in the My Clubrunner list on the left select My Billing Account Balance. Your outstanding balance will not show because we don’t send the invoices directly from Clubrunner. But, don’t worry! Once you enter your credit card payment, it will send it to us and we apply it to your account. You can also see a list of payments you have made previously through Clubrunner.

2. You can mail a check made out to the Rotary Club of Reno. You can mail your check to Rotary Club of Reno, PO Box 1750, Reno, NV 89505.

Your attendance is important to both you as a member and to the Club in meeting attendance percentage requirements.

Please make sure you turn in make-ups to our Club Secretary at a club meeting or by email.

Don’t forget that you need to attend or make up at least 50% of club regular meetings in each half of the year (rolling six months) and attend at least 30% of this club’s meetings in each half of the year. Credit can be received for Rotary committee work and other official Rotary functions. You can also do make ups on-line.
