If you read this month’s The Rotarian magazine, you probably noted the inspirational interviews with several Rotary Peace Fellows, including Summer Lewis, founder of True Roots Consulting, working with family garden projects in Mexico. “People sometimes ask me how one little project in one little community makes a difference,” Summer told author Steve Almond. “But you can’t think of it like that. You have to consider the thousands, if not millions, of projects all over the world. Then you have to consider all the Rotary Peace Fellows working on projects like this. Then think about all the Rotary clubs carrying out projects in communities. Now you’re talking about changing the world.”
Club Board Club Board Meeting – January 21, 4:30 pm, Sunshine Reporting Services, 151 Country Estates, Reno.
Reno
Not all of us can be hands-on involved in world-wide projects, but we can support the work done by Rotarians and alumni such as Summer and our own Peace Fellow Aimal, now studying in England. Joining the Paul Harris Society is one way to provide this support. A Paul Harris Society member pledges to donate $1000 to The Rotary Foundation during the Rotary year. The Rotary Club of Reno had 24 Paul Harris Society members last year, and we hope to do even better this year. If you’d like more information on the Paul Harris Society or are ready join this group of generous Rotarians, contact Paul Harris Society member Gary Bullis or club TRF chair Anne-Louise Bennett for a pledge form. We hope to meet our goal by the end of March in order to qualify for District club recognition.

Tina Doherty Tina Doherty was born in Tucson, AZ. Growing up in a military family, she lived in many states throughout the western U.S., eventually settling in Sparks after graduating from the University of Nevada with a degree in education. She taught 4th grade for two years before a career shift into the hotel industry. Twenty years and several positions later, she still loves the excitement and unpredictable nature of hotel sales! Tina and her husband, Will, have two children and the family enjoys many outdoor activities in all seasons. When they aren’t in the great outdoors, her family joins her in many volunteer opportunities from community clean-up days to serving meals to the hungry and homeless. She has been a mentor to a high school student, guiding her on a path to graduation and college acceptance.
A Rotarian since January 2012, Tina has served as the Holiday Party Committee Chair, currently is a member of the Most Improved Student Event committee, and participates in as many Rotary activities as time permits. Additionally, she is a member of the Advisory Board for Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, sitting on the Advancement Committee for the last two years.
