Monday’s Program Cynthia Albright Urban Form: What Works in our Region
Ms. Albright is a certified land planner and certified geographic information systems professional with outstanding experience in the areas of community and regional planning, urban design, entitlements for land development activities. Cynthia received her master’s degree from UCLA, School of Architecture and Urban Planning. She manages large-scale multidisciplinary projects that incorporate her knowledge of the area’s environment, the political climate, and the community. She recently authored a bike share feasibility study for the Truckee Meadows, managed the site development and entitlements for a 50MW solar project, oversees Stantec’s various engineering services at the Apple Data Center Campus and is managing Stantec’s basin-wide Transit Master Plan for Lake Tahoe. The depth of her project experience is wide-reaching but she really enjoys specific projects that make a difference in a community. Cynthia serves on the City of Reno Charter Committee, Ward 2 Neighborhood Advisory Board, Urban Forestry Commission and has received awards from the Builders Association, the Nevada American Planning Association (APA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers for projects she has guided. Cynthia is also a member of the APA Urban Design and Historic Preservation Division, New Urbanism Division, Transportation Planning Division, National Recreation & Park Association and Rotary Club of Reno.

Club Board Club Board Meeting – June 21, 4:30 pm, Sunshine Reporting Services, 151 Country Estates, Reno. All members are welcome to attend.
Our club will once again be allowed the special privilege of visiting this amazing event on Saturday, September 3, with a group bus trip similar to the past six years. There is a difference this year, however, in that the Burning Man organization has requested our club become more involved with the event beyond just making a one day visit to Black Rock City. For this year’s adventure, any Rotarians (and their guests) who wish to make the trip in September are being asked to get involved in advance with some form of participation that contributes to the 2016 event. We will track everyone’s activities and when we are signing up for the club’s (almost certainly sold out) bus trip, priority will be given to those members and guests who have participated in advance. And thanks to club member Richard Schreinert, our first opportunity has arrived. Richard is coordinating an event where Rotarians can take part in creation of an art piece, entitled Burntanical Garden, that will be on the Playa this year. This Saturday (June 11) will be the first opportunity to get involved as work begins in creating components of the art piece at The Generator in Sparks. In addition to hands-on participation, the artist is also looking for design contribution that will be incorporated into the art piece. Please contact Richard for more details and to be part of this first “pre-Burn” opportunity. He can be reached at 775-846-0730 or Richard@ThinkCreateGrow.com. Thanks! President Curt
Foundation Trustees Foundation Trustees Meeting - Tuesday, June 28, 8:00 am, Rounds Bakery, 294 East Moana Lane #10, Reno. All members are welcome to attend.

Michael Chertier from the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice briefed the club on the status of school choice throughout the US and in Nevada which has turned into a battleground for the nation on this issue. He discussed the current spate of anti-school choice law suits and the possible impact on the quickly spreading school choice initiatives. Currently over half the States have some sort of school choice implemented.
How To Introduce Your Guests And New Members At A Club Meeting When introducing a guest or new members during a Club meeting, the correct way is to greet the Club President, fellow Rotarians and guests, introduce yourself and state your classification, and then introduce your guest, their title and business affiliation. Please do not introduce any guest as a prospective new member or that they are looking for a position or clients.
President Curt (left) and Lead Teacher Chair Jack Hoffman present the Annual Lead Teacher award to Calen Evans (center). Calen teaches at Lemelson Academy and his principal Joanna AuCoin joined him at the head table .

The Four-Way Test Of the things we think, say or do 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
